Lightpaw hissed as the rabbit he was chasing got away from him, again. Well maybe not the same rabbit, but this was the second time that they had veered off course and he wasn’t able to keep up. His mentor had stopped chasing and turned back towards the panting tom. Her amber eyes focused and full of concern.

“Lightpaw, are you sure that you want to be a grand hunter?” Her voice was caring, he tail running down his back as he tried to gulp down large breaths to steady his breathing. He had already mad up his mind that he needed to train to chase rabbits before he moved onto other things. His decision coming after finding her enjoyed all types of hunting, he was just bad at rabbits with their unpredictability.

“Yes, Leafecho, I want this more than anything and I don’t care if this takes me four moons to master,” he spat, out of frustration and determination. He lifted his head, jaws parted as he tasted the air for another rabbit, determined to bring something back to the camp. A light purr came from behind him as his mentor admired his determination, but was no doubt about to stop him if he was to fail a third time.

To say that Oatkit's relationship with his mentor is rather interesting would be an understatement.
Of all cats, it had to be Crowsight; the one who had rumors against them, the tortoiseshell tomcat who either was not trusted or simply ignored. It wasn't as if Crowsight resented this reputation; but, well, Oatpaw had to match up with Mottlepaw and the other apprentices, and...
...having him as his mentor certainly didn't help.

Crowsight's behavior was truly quite something else.
"Oaaatpaw," he would chirp, drawing out his name on purpose. "Did you forget our training already? My, I can't believe you would fall for the same trick again!"
"It was just one mistake," the cream tabby initiate huffed, shaking off his pelt. "I won't make it again."
The tortoiseshell only laughed and struck him back down, taking advantage of Oatpaw's distracted nature.
"Distracted, distracted!" he cackled, lashing his fluffy tail in some sort of strange glee. "You can't afford to be this distracted on the battlefield!"
"Crowsight--"
"Try again!"


The cream tabby found himself, unfortunately for his own reputation, slightly warming up to the tom; pulling tricks only he could have taught, pranks he knew how to carry out almost expertly.
Such as the one time he drove off the cream lynx point bully Cloverpaw with a fake glance behind him; distracting the older initate - then proceeding to strike him while rushing off immediately afterward.

"Is someone warming up to little old me?" the tortoiseshell cat purred with a grin plastered on his face. "My, I'm flattered."
"...absolutely not," Oatpaw snapped; a thin veil of dislike covering his secret sort of admiration. "Totally not. Try again."
Crowsight snorted, still well aware of the cream tabby's true feelings and actions; but he always kept his signature grin.
"All right, then. Keep your secrets."

Roan, when choosing Milkpaw's mentor, didn't have many choices. Most of the warriors currently in the clan either already had apprentices or were queens caring for kits, so he, himself, had to become the mentor of Milkpaw. While it would usually be considered an honor to be trained by the leader of your clan, Milkpaw views it as a burden. Her denmates constantly pester her about training with the large, powerful brown tabby tom and she is always accused of special treatment from her brother, Butterpaw.
Milkpaw despises being Roan's apprentice and constantly begs him for a mentor change but she never has the heart to truly explain why instead of getting in trouble by Roan for putting herself down too much and claiming Roan is too good and honorable to be training an apprentice like Milkpaw.

Luna blinked as Scorch demonstrated the proper way to crouch. Slowly, painstakingly slowly, she would crouch and look up at him expectantly.

Scorch nearly wilted as Luna went down into her own crouch. What was she doing with her feet? Why were they so far apart? Why was her tail so high in the air? He tried not to ask these question aloud, biting them back, knowing that Luna would grow sensitive to any further criticism. She was too soft, too kind, and unable to take any corrections. It made being her mentor a nightmare, unable to teach the small cat, well, anything.

"Let me help you," Scorch offered softly, a tone that the tom was unused to. Scorch was usually sharp and commanding, but it was quickly realized that type of tone would never help the small cat. Carefully, Scorch pushed in Luna's paws, and batted at her tail to make her soften it. "There."

"Thanks!" Luna chirped, beaming at the large tom. Scorch offered a rare smile, joy and love spreading throughout his heart. It was strange, but he truly did care for the young cat, and he knew he would do anything he had to do to protect her. Their relationship was like that of a very large dog protecting a very small mouse, refusing to let any harm come to it and sheltering it between it's paws.

Seapaw's mentor probably wasn't the best choosing on Arcticstar's part. Seapaw tends to...take influence very easily from others. His mentor, Dualcricket, being the very tricky cat that they are, rubbed off on Seapaw very easily. Seapaw and Dualcricket are like the troublesome Team Rocket Duo from Pokemon, and that's the best way to describe them. They're always pulling tricks and pranks around the camp rather than getting actual training or work done, making most of the clan upset. The two often get scolded but do they care? no. Their relationship can be summed up in a basically big sibling little sibling relationship. They're very close with each other and aren't very formal about being apprentice and mentor like most of the others are.
