What are Chetapal Destrals? | What is their World like?

Here is where you can find a variety of Destrals that are searching for a new herd, or are looking to make their own. Male or female, a strong Destral makes a strong herd. A male and a female generally share leadership, with the male taking on the role of protector and the female acting as a guide, leading the herd to food, water, and shelter.

What are Chetapal Destrals

Chetapal Destrals are wild horses with cloven hooves, fangs, and horns. They come in a variety of natural colors and markings including silvers, duns, pintos, and double dilutes. They are omnivores, eating almost anything they can find. Destrals are generally aggressive and territorial, with the herd stallion defending his band from intruders and predators.They run in herds, typically consisting of one stallion, one lead mare, and the other mares the stallion likely stole from other herds. These herds can be small or large, depending on the personalities of the lead Destrals.

Males of the species have large, ornate horns or antlers, while females' adornments are much smaller. They have no reproductive organs, as these are unnecessary. Rather than physical means, Destrals reproduce magically, which allows any two Destrals, no matter their gender, to produce offspring.

What is their World like?

Destrals live in and around the Chetapal badlands. The ground is dark and dry, scorching hot in the day and freezing cold at night. Most creatures take shelter during these times of extreme temperatures and only come out at dawn and dusk. A mountain range lies to the north, a narrow river rushes through the canyons to the west. Similar to that of an oasis, the main vegetation in Chetapal occurs along this river. However, being only 124 miles long, it breaks up at the end making a webbing of networks along the bottoms of the canyon. There are not many animals here, including cougars, sheep, antelope, jackrabbits, and tarantulas. Each creature is heavily equipped to survive this harsh land. Due to the land's restrictions,they have a high resistance.They can go days without food or water. Destrals who live here tend to be hard, determined, and aggressive.

The massive forest to the south is a direct contrast to this scene, allowing the Destrals who call it home to feast daily if they wish. Destrals who live here tend to be much more docile than their badlands counterparts, and much less territorial. There is much more food to go around, after all. Further south, beyond the forest, lies the salty shores of an ocean.
