Karma's parents weren't... the best parents, you could say. Not every parent would teach their kit how to throw a death blow at a young age. But his parents weren't like the other parents. They worked together on everything, yes. But..
They were assassins. The best, you could say. Cats say that his parents were learning how to be expert killers at one year.
Of course, those rumors aren't true. Karma asked them himself - they started learning at six moons.
So much for being wholesome kittens.
That was also the same age Karma was at when they started teaching him. His training didn't last very long, though. The night before he turned nine moons changed his training forever.
Karma already was an anxious kit, even before his parents started putting him in "lessons". He would never leave their nest - which neither of his parents liked - and always made up excuses.
"It's time you learned how to hunt."
"I have a stomach ache."
"Come on, dearie. You must come practice train with me outside."
"My head hurts. The sun will hurt it more."
Those were all the ways he got out of going outside. Until his parents dragged him out while he was asleep. Which was actually pretty smart of them, since he wouldn't have allowed them to drag him out while he was awake.
That was on the night before his kitting day.
"Listen here, son. We have to go do some business in the city, and-"
"I get to stay here??"
"That's not why we dragged you out here. You're coming with us to see how it's done."
"B-But... the city is so far away.."
"Suck it up. Come on!"
The story goes that his mother had to pick him up by his scruff and carried him the whole way.
"It was all going smoothly until we heard a cat yowl three times. My mother picked her head up, locked eyes with my father, nodded, and started running down the alleys.
"'Whats going on??'
"My parents didn't speak to me, and soon I was aware of the fact that there was at least a dozen cats chasing us. Mother seemed to notice too, since she sighed and skidded to a stop.
"The cats caught up with us. They took Mother and Father, and left me there.
"I'm still proud of the fact that I was able to cope and survive without Mother and Father. I haven't seen them since, but..
"I still hope."
