Bluecloud yawned.
"How much further?"
Him and Ash have been travelling for hours, patrolling the borders of their clan territory. Blue was tired and hungry, his soft paws starting to ache from the non-stop marching.
"It looks like everything is secure for now. No sight of other clans, no smells of predators. We can return to the cliff."
The white cat yawned again, but his step got a boost of new energy, knowing he'll be able to rest soon. Unlike him, Ravenash seemed to be in perfect condition. Head held high, eyes sharp, he kept glancing around to spot any sights of danger.
When they returned to the cliff, Blue simply popped down onto sand, nicely warmed by the summer sun.
"Welcome home"
Shiningheart was attempting to catch fish in the shallow water next to the sandy area by dipping his paw into the liquid and immediately taking it back out and shaking it off. Maybe he was just playing.
"I'm beat, but we're finally done"
Cloud rolled over to his side with a smile. Ash shook his head.
"We're not done. There's only three of us, we have to be careful, if we get ambushed, that will be the end of us. We have to stay on high alert at all times."
He looked at the tired cat and his sad, disappointed expression.
"You can rest for now. I'll keep lookout over the fields."
With those words, he left, climbing steep rocks. Blue, still on the ground, glanced at Shining.
"Would you like to help him?"
"Nope. It sounds like a one man job anyway"
"He needs help. He's overworked. He kept watch all night and we went patrolling first thing in the morning. I don't know how he's still standing. We need to support him."
Heart ceased his actions for a moment, sat down and looked at the white feline.
"I understand, but if I go help him now, he'll never let me slack off again. So, no."
With a moan, Bluecloud stood up, as Shiningheart returned to splashing. He climbed the rocks and followed a dirt path winding through the fields. He noticed Ash sitting on top of one of the oversized stones. He jumped on it and sat next to him. Ash's head was hanging low, his eyes closed.
"Ash?"
The cat swayed to one side and leaned on the white, fluffy fur. Slowly, his paws gave in and he laid down on the warm surface of the rocks, snoozing. Bluecloud smiled, nested next to him and fell asleep.
