Euphorian Thoroughbred #E028

Postby gr3ystones » Fri Aug 30, 2019 10:04 am

Welcome to the Fallen Oaks Farm event!
It is here that an illegal Euphorian Thoroughbred breeding operation was shut down by local authorities. All of the mares, stallions, and of age foals are in need of homes. There will also be some mares that still have their foals that need to be taken care of. Euphorian lovers from all over have come together to get homes for all of the animals. They've brought giant trailers and are ready and waiting to bring home a bunch of new faces. But before adopting, they must visit the trailer parking site.

this stallion was laying in a stall, completely empty of any trace of food, bedding or water.
the inside of the stall was just about about shredded to bits with his attempts at escaping,
the walls had hoof marks indented in the splintered wood, a multitude of scrapes where on the metal frames and big chunks had been taken out of the door- presumably bitten off.
he had cuts all over him, his lack of fat making him look like a skeleton, and was barely able to stand up.

It had been a struggle just to get him to stand, the poor creature had been that weak. He had come willingly, step by agonising step into the light of day for the first time in who knows how long. His legs had given out and he'd collapsed onto the floor though his eyes were brighter as he took in the outside world. It seemed easier the second time, to get the stallion up and walking that is. Being outside seemed to give him some miraculous newfound strength or perhaps it was that he finally had hope

It was decided that his wounds were the most important issue. So armed with antiseptic and soft clean instruments had Isabella tending to each and every cut. The stallion stood surprisingly still, the only movements he made were the occasional weight shift and tiny flinch from the sting of the antiseptic every so often. After the cleaning process he was given a small hay net filled with lush alfalfa hay. It had been recommended for past rescue cases and she had checked carefully with the local vet to make sure it was suitable for the stallion. She'd decided to name him Diamond, as he'd be rough during the healing process but once he was recovered he'd be a stunning and beautiful gem.

While Diamond recovered he was let into the isolation field each day for a set amount of time that was gradually increased as weeks went by so he could eat the lush grass. Everyday he was allowed to be taken for small stroll's around the yard and upon being confirmed strong enough he was taken for longer walks through the fields. Taking him swimming had been recommended but he took one look at the pool and turned his nose up at it. There was no fear he was just being a diva about it, the same could not be said for when he encountered muddy puddles. Unfortunately for Isabela, who was the one having to clean him up afterwards and Diamond never made it easy for her. Often ending up with the dark haired woman almost as wet as he was what with the stallion "accidentally" standing on the hose every so often and moving right as she picked it up again, causing the hose to spray wildly.

Barn Name: Comet

Discipline: Halter
Halter: Garnet Red
Competition:
The first part of the battle was getting him to stand up and stay standing. Bits of food were hand fed to him. He had been starved for so long that there was a concern of shocking his system with large amounts of food. At first he had no interest in the food being offered, but he nibbled some. That nibbling turned into him looking around for more. At the instructions of the vet, a timer was set for feeding intervals. Getting him to be able to handle a full feeding would take awhile, so for now it would have to do.

The next step was getting him out of the stall and getting some light exercise. At first he could only make a few steps before he stopped. Eventually he could walk up and down the courtyard without needing a break. As his strength returned, so did his spirit. He had a mischievous streak. Everyone took to calling him Comet, because soon he went blazing by in a ball of energy. Along with his daily exercise regimen, he did all sorts of physical therapy.

The one he did best on, was water therapy. In the rehabilitation center there were tanks partially set into the floor, with walkways on either side going down. to monitor how he was doing. He was lead down the entrance ramp, and into the tank. The water was salty, and warm. The treadmill would start, and his legs pushed against the force of the water. The water provided both resistance to strengthen his legs, and support. When the therapy was done, he was lead out, hosed down with warm fresh water, and hand dried down to his hooves.

After months, he didn't need the water therapy anymore, or the severely reduced feedings. He could run when he wanted to, and didn't struggle to keep up when with the other horses. His personality really shines at this point, as he'd swipe people's hats and take off at giddy trot. It was hard for people to not stop and admire how he had filled out. Comet went from a terrified creature, barely able to stand, to a mischievous troublemaker able to dodge the hands of the person he stole from. He didn't flinch away when people went to pet him, anymore, either. Many at the center considered the biggest recovery of all.
