Seventy moons prior. The age of Silentclan.

Battle tore through the lands, the skies harsh grays and clouds deep blacks, violent torrents of rain pounding across the lands.

Adira, then Lightwhisper, stood atop a series of rocks, her brown eyes growing wary as she observed the chaos. Cats exhaled their last breaths before her, some drawing their paws out to ask for help.

She felt guilt tug at the chords of her heart. She had once been trusted by Amberstar to protect their clan, to give them advice. But the clan had failed her, and she had decided to retaliate alongside her niece, Thistledawn.

She heard pawsteps.

Thump.. Click.. Thump Click...

The rhythm of the clicks. Agitation howling through them. There was someone approaching from behind, and she was left unsure of who it was.

She turned her head, her eyes widening in horror. It was her young daughter, Agnimitra.

"Agni... What are you doing, darling?" She whispered.

"Mama.. You need to tell them it was you. Amberstar loved us." Her daughter whimpered, trembling with fear

"But you are aware that I will die, are you not?" Adira returned, her lips quivering.

"Yes. But isn't that what the stars.. What Shivana and Mrithun asked of you? You need to help the clan, but not in this life, they said." Agni said slowly, her ears pinning back. A beam of pride seemed to form in Adira's eyes.

"You have grown up so well so soon.. You will protect them, won't you?" She asked through shaky speech. "They", referred to the surviving clanmates, including Amberstar's kits.

"With my life, mother. Now go. I will carry on for us." Agni replied. The two shared a tear jerking embrace before Adira retreated into the battle field.

She has done it with a smile, one that I wish I could have been alive to see. But my death was necessary.

I am not strong. I am not brave. I am a coward.

But.. I am a coward who wishes to help.

Not all names are fitting. But in Pikapaw’s case, they’re kind of scarily accurate.

The pika, for which she’s named, is at first glance a cute and unimposing little creature. Pikapaw’s short stature, soft fur and empathetic manner give that impression at first too.

But the pika is also a loud creature. They have distinctive calls with which to declare their territory and make themselves heard.
Pikapaw may be a healer, but she is not a pushover. She’s sweet and empathetic, but will not tolerate any stupidity on the part of her Clanmates. Goodness knows these knuckleheads need some sense knocked into them sometimes. She has a strong will and a big heart for those around her.

Pikapaw's major flaw is stubbornness. Her determination can be a good thing, but sometimes it results in her becoming overly single-minded and unwilling to listen to those around her.

Lynxstar is quite fond of this spunky little she-cat. He was the one who initially brought her to the Clan, actually. don't tell anyone but he kind of views her like a surrogate daughter at points shh

Swanglow::
Swanglow thinks Pikapaw is... adorable. In a kick-butt, don't-mess-with-me, seriously-Wolfcall-I-mean-it-eat-your-herbs kind of way. Pikapaw reminds her a little of herself when she was younger, in some ways. Anyway. The fiery young she-cat is a fine addition to the Clan.

Cloudgaze adores his apprentice. She's a fiery little thing, but a fast learner with a true heart for the sick and injured. That temer could use a little cooling down, though.

Ptarmiganpaw::
Ptarmiganpaw thinks Pikapaw is awesome. A little boring, though, in that she never wants to join in on his shenanigans and will cuff him around the ears if he tries to rope her in. And then again when he inevitably gets busted for it.

Moosepaw::
Moosepaw.... is a little bit smitten with Pikapaw. She's so soft but also strong and smart and kind and ugh.

Wolfcall::
Wolfcall has been cowed into submission by this tiny she-cat on more than one occasion. He's kind of embarrassed by this fact but also kind of in awe of her.

Yewberry startled awake, skin crawling and heart racing as he took in his surroundings.

The tom sighed. He doubted he could ever sleep peacefully again.

No, not after what he'd done.

Yewberry shuddered, the warm air suddenly seeming very, very cold.
Or was it very, very hot?
He couldn't tell anymore, he wasn't really sure of anything.

The tom had lost all sense of directions and the hunger was getting to him.

He looked up at the harsh and unforgiving stars and shivered before disappearing into the forest, desperate to escape their accusing glares of treason.

"Stop it!" He cried out suddenly at the empty space around him. "It wasn't my fault!" The tom protested, trying to convince himself along with his demons.

No, it wasn't his fault!

But oh, it was.

Was it?

He shook his head, but couldn't shake the image from his mind.

His family, trapped.

The building was burning up and they were inside and he wasn't.

He didn't even try to help them.

Why?

At the time he was sure the fire would kill him and prayed to the spirits they could escape.

But of course, they didn't.

It was his fault they were dead. He didn't go into the building. He had feared death so much then, but now, he almost wanted it.

Almost.

The only thing that kept Yewberry going was the guilt. He couldn't ever meet with the spirits of his family after what he'd done.

He stumbled forwards on bloody paws.

He would survive.

No, he would fall and rot into the ground.

But he was already dead, right?

He’d died and been punished with eternal suffering at the paws of those he’d loved.

Surely that was the only answer.

Right?

He stared down at his paws. Were they his? Or is this somebody else's body he'd possessed to escape?

He'd better give it back, he thought miserably.

And with that troubling thought, Yewberry's paw slammed against a rock and he pitched forwards, stumbling over the cliff he'd been walking along.

Falling...

Falling....

Falling.....

Gone.

Yewberry awoke with a start and yelped at the sudden pain the hit him like a wall.

He snarled and thrashed, the surroundings unfamiliar and the air strange. Something was wrong, was he dead?!

Would that be a bad thing if he was?

He surged up and yowled, slashing and biting the air as he thrashed and turned.

Yewberry was being attacked from all sides, invisible demons biting and attacking, getting worse every time he moved.

If only he would lay still.

Maybe then he would realize it was simply his injuries and that there was no enemy here, only a very concerned and lost medicine cat watching him with wide eyes.

Yewberry screeched out furiously. The air here was wrong. The atmosphere was different and strange and wrong!

He shot up, knocking over herbs and bedding and scaring the medicine cat half to death as he shot out of the den like a bullet.

Cats. Cats everywhere. Spirits?

Yes! The spirits were here. He was dead and they would torment him forever.

He ran as far as possible into the mountains, body aching fiercely before collapsing in a clearing painfully.

It wasn't long before Owlsong caught up with him and nudged him nervously. "Hey... don't panic. You’re safe here.." she murmured tentatively.

He stiffened and looked up, afraid to see the stars.

That's when he realized there were no spirits here, the stars were even calming, no, these were different ancestors, his demons fought off at the border of this strange new land.

He was free.

"Hey..." Owlsong offered tentatively, "Lets stay out here and watch the stars for a while and get you calmed down... does that sound okay?”

And at that moment, as he stared at these foreign stars in wonder, feeling only curiosity and not a hint of malice, he decided that nothing could’ve possibly been better.

Weaselshade is kind-hearted and brave,
however, she’s quick witted and often
speaks without thinking about her words.
She doesn’t mean to be unkind, but the

She’s quick and agile, despite her larger
build and she can often be found up in
trees. Because of her past Weaselshade
can often be rather touchy on the subject

When Weaselshade was younger,
she fell in love with a young
tomcat. She thought he loved
her and they were so close
they were planning on having
kits, but one day the tom left
her for her sister, saying she
‘wasn’t good enough’. This

never been able to love someone
like that since. She wants to, of
course, but the scars run too deep.

It’s interesting, really, how we say ‘falling into love’ not ‘rising’. You’d think we would ‘rise’ into love, since rising suggests we’re increasing our relationship.
Then again, falling is without our control – so maybe it suggests that our head and our heart think differently.
But which should we trust?
My heart says to trust my head… but my head says to trust my heart. People say to trust your instincts, but how do you know which is which? Is it the thoughts in the back of your head that tell you something isn’t quite right, or the heart-dropping sensation that something’s about to go wrong?
But what about the feelings I can’t express? Or the thoughts I can’t put into words?
And if instinct is both, what if my instinct tells me to decide?
What if you loved someone so much that your heart ached with physical pain… but your head screamed at you that it was a bad idea?
What do you do then?

Amberflower is an incredibly trustworthy cat, easy to talk to about your problems and get good advice as well as a cat who will keep that secret for you. Even with her backstory of being betrayed many times over she constantly finds it to be a good habit to get in to. The more cats who trust you, the closer you will be to finding a good afterlife. That is something she wants more than anything, to find peace in her afterlife. It is probably because most of her family was dishonest cats, living lives of trickery and thievery. Amberflower didn't want to be her family, she didn't want to be a repeat of the same tragic story, so she changed her life. It was hard to get cats to gain her trust while she lived with her family so she moved, boarding a ship and going out to sea, arriving in TideClan's territory. She started a new life here, becoming Amberpaw and being raised in TideClan's ways, becoming the talented she-cat she is now. At first, cats were very suspicious of her, she was an outcast, but she changed their minds very fast. She became a friend to everyone, striking love and confidence in the hearts of even the meanest and scariest of cats.

Clouds clung to the sky, obscuring the sun and blocking the light from reaching the beach and jungle it bordered. Cats were out on patrols, checking and marking the borders or catching prey to supply for the large group of cats named TideClan, but a few others were settled in the camp, playing games or relaxing as they awaited their turns at patrolling. One of these cats was Amberflower.

She was a soft she-cat, long fur silky and soft and a personality to match, she was a good clan member. She offered her support to every cat who wanted it, and she kept all the clan's secrets.

She lifted her head, breathing in the salty sea breeze, whiskers moving with the breeze. It was a bit stressful being the clan's secret keeper but it felt nice to be so trusted after what she went through in the past. It felt nice to have friends who loved and trusted her.

She twisted her head, looking over her shoulder, seeing Wetberry approaching her, his long blue fur ruffled. He was followed by Algaetoe, a smaller blue she-cat who was his sister. Amberflower sat up quick, ears pricking in excitement at seeing her two friends approaching. "Hello!" She chirped.

The two cats sat beside her, and they told jokes and shared secrets, happiness and trust radiating from the small group.

“Ravenkit come play with us!” My ears had twitched when my sister and her friends had called out to me. Sunkit had always been the more wild between the two of us, whereas I was always more laid back, lazy even. But she had so wanted to play with me that day, and I could never refuse my cute sister anything. I should have known better though, Sunkit was reckless and wasn’t good at thinking things through, and rather than teaching her, our mother had encouraged it. Something she would come to regret later that day.

After the call, I’d gone off to play with Sunkit, her friends, and our other sibling Whitekit. Now our bother, he had always been shy, timid and not the sort of cat to do anything bold. But he adored Sunkit and always wanted to impress her, so he thought nothing of it when she challenged him to a race after our friends had returned to the nursery. But the sand was unusually wet that day and we, just being kits, hadn’t understood that this was very dangerous. Sunkit and Whitekit started their race and all went fine at first, until suddenly Whitekit was being pulled down, into the soft sand below him. Sunkit and myself had panicked and tried to pull him out, but we weren’t strong enough. Whitekit died that day. My sister was never quite the same after that, and neither was I. We had just watched our sweet, innocent brother die, that wasn’t something a cat forgot in a hurry,


When the day had come for my sister and I to be made warriors, it was with heavy hearts that we went to greet our mentors. Whitekit should have been with us. It wasn’t fair that out brother had died before he even got a chance to really begin his life. He’d wanted to be a medicine cat and take care of the clan, as had always been his way with kindness. And I’m convinced to this day that he would have been a great one. But alas, Whitekit was gone and my sister and I had to go on with our lives. We couldn’t live in the past forever.

Warrior training went well after that. My mentor Creekhollow was strong and experienced, a good teacher for a young apprentice. He taught me well and answered my incessant questions with ease. It helped that I was a fast learned and picked up new concepts quickly. After all, every cat longsfor a dedicated and driven apprentice. But one night, when I was coming back from a long day of training, something happened that would change everything. “Ravenpaw, we need to talk.” Sunpaw has said as she led me to a ledge at the edge of our camp. “Today.....today one of the elders, Hawkwhisker, came to me and she said.....she said....I’m to be the new Sol Priest.” I was shocked. Sunpaw....she’d always dreamed of being a warrior, but you couldn’t argue if you were chosen as a priest. It was the will of the gods.


The day of my warrior ceremony was one of the most memorable days of my life, my sister and her betrothed were at the front of the crowd as my name was announced and were the first to cheer for me. Sunsong had always been my biggest supporter and I was so grateful for her. I still sometimes thought if Whitekit and wished he could be with us, but I know he was there that day too, watching the ceremony from starclan. He’d be proud of me too. I know he would!

“Heartflower is dead!” The cry had echoed through the camp as the fire raged bright. It was only a few days after my warrior ceremony and a massive fire had started after a storm and steadily burnt its way to our camp. Many cats had died, and now it seemed out medicine cat apprentice was dead too. If we lost our medicine cat as well, the clan would be finished! Hazelrain was struggling, she had breathed in too much smoke and likely only had a matter of days left. We needed a new medicine cat and we needed them now! So I volunteered. Whitekit, he had taught me a few things and I sometimes had helped in the medicine den to feel close to him. I could do it. After all, I was Whitekit sister, I had his blood, it was only right I took the position. Destiny. “Whitekit, please guide me. Help me achieve your dream and protect our clan.” I had prayed that night, and he had answered.


I’d remained the clan’s medicine cat after the fire, even though they had told me it was fine to become a warrior again. But I couldn’t. We had nobody else and I had not yet taken an apprentice. My clan deserved that much at least. And besides, I loved being a medicine cat, even more than being a warrior. Helping the clan, bringing kits into the world, even easing the dying, it just brought me so much joy and fulfillment. I felt like Whitekit himself had guided my paws here and this was my true calling. Being a warrior was fine, and maybe I’d return to that someday, but my life was good for now. I was happy.

When I got my first glimpse of the firey kit many moons later, my first thought was that he reminded me of a bird. The little guy was always puffed up and angry, snarking at everyone. But he was kind, oh so very kind. The little one tried to pretend that he wasn’t but I could tell by how he interacted with others. He clearly wanted to protect them, but didn’t know how. Maybe...maybe I could help. I’d talked to his parents later that day, ironically my sister and her mate, and asked about the little kit and if he’d given any thought to what he wished to do. His name, funnily enough, was Birdkit and he apparently didn’t have much ambition. Thats’s okay, I had thought at the time, he’s just a kit. He has several moons to decide.

The day I took Birdpaw as my apprentice was easily the happiest day of my life. He soaked up information like moss did water and was always asking questions. Sure his attitude wasn’t the best, but he cared and those who knew him could clearly see that. I knew the little guy would make an amazing medicine cat someday. He just had that something special. And the sign for starclan....well that helped too. After all, I doubt Whitekit was lying when he sent Birdpaw that vision of a flicker with orange feathers watching over the clan. Birdflicker, he would watch over the clan, just like that bird. He’d make sure the clan was taken care of, even when I no longer could.

The day came too quickly for my liking. Foamheart and her brother had decided to leave and form a clan in the hills, but they needed someone to train their medicine cat. That meant me. Oh how Birdflicker had cried. Our bond, it was special. He made me promise to come back safe and sound. To return to him after I had trained a medicine cat for Foamheart. “Of course.”I had promised. And I meant it. My beloved apprentice would wait for me, this I knew. And I owed it to him to return back. After all, he needed me still, even thought he was grown.

“Birdflicker....I”m sorry.” I was dying. The dog had come out of nowhere and I had only just managed to escape after it had finished mauling me. My body was a mess and I could hardly walk, but Birdflicker was waiting for me. I couldn’t let him down. I would return to my apprentice, no matter what. I promised! That thought gave me the strength to rise to my feet. I suddenly thought back on my life, all I’d been through. What was a small dog bite?! This small setback, it wouldn’t stop me! I would keep my promise to the cat I loved most in the world. No matter what. At that moment I head a voice on the wind. Whitekit. “Come on sis, you can do it.” And I knew then that I could. So I set my paws forward and begun to walk, after all, I had a long journey ahead of me. A journey home.

pea is a gentle, slow soul. she doesn't seem to make haste out of any situation, instead meandering about like she doesn't have a care in the world. while this causes her tasks to take a much longer time, she enjoys them nonetheless, even if it's something as trivial as removing old kills or passing on a message. some may interpret this for a lack of care, but her reasoning is quite the opposite. she's always happy in what she's doing, so she has no reason to rush through them. she is capable of doing things in a more urgent matter, if the situation calls for it, but she isn't quite as quick on her feet as the others. she's not the best hunter, and is certainly at the bottom of the skill barrel when it comes to fighting.

the she-cat once resided on a farm, where she was born to a barn cat and feral father, who she never had the opportunity to meet. her childhood was happy and easygoing. she grew up with her four siblings and learned to hunt unwanted rodents. the owners were minimally affectionate towards the five of them, but treated them well nonetheless. when the farm was sold, the new owners gave away her mother and siblings, at which she chose to fled.

falling in love with the cat everyone viewed as an enemy was a horrible idea. especially in this clan, where rumors spread faster than snow fell during a blizzard. but gods, she couldn't help it.

the way he looked. his shining coat that went fiery red in the light. he had the deepest blue eyes she'd ever seen. she couldn't help herself. he looked so sad at all times, like he was sympathetic over everything. she felt like she could help him. like she could make his eyes sparkle every day, like she could hear him purr, or see his lips twitch into a smile.

she wanted the clan to view him as a beacon of hope. with coldsplash being the deputy, once he became leader it was clear who would be his deputy. the clan would never accept it, but if she could just make them see how he was not like his parents, how good and pure he was, maybe he'd lighten up.

oh, but how wrong she was. she'd gotten so far deep in love with him, and him with her, that she didn't see how the clan started viewing her. how many friends she lost. how her status of the 'sweetest cat in snowclan' had been lost and replaced with 'traitor.'

he could see it. he warned her one night when she first started sleeping next to him that he was ruining her. but she wouldn't listen. she simply curled up tighter, pulling his tail over her body, and told him everything would be alright.

that was the first time she'd heard him purr. whether he believed her words or not, it didn't matter then, and it still doesn't matter. she's become almost a full outcast to the clan since they became mates, with very few cats trusting her enough to make any kind of conversation. they still watch from the distance, waiting for her mate to become the next adderfang and start another coup, getting half of the clan killed. after all, the apple does not fall far from the tree, does it not? and she would follow him to the ends of the earth, just as siltwing would with adderfang.

and through all of this trouble, brightflower still loves sorrelpath with all of her heart.
