DAY THREE
Username: Alledowaya
Writing: He stood in his stall that morning, bored and munching on his morning grain. The day had just begun, a normal, typical day. Or at least he thought, nothing really ever happened to the stables that would be considered interesting, so it was assumed that it would be a normal day for the tolters. The herd gets their grain, they get put out to pasture, and they spend the rest of the day grazing and being mellow.
Artagon lifted his fancy head, the silver in his mane starting to shimmer in the sunrise. It was already warm outside, a solid 70°F if he was human. It was his turn to be let out, the small rider grabbed a halter and led him to the stallion pasture, away from all the mares. He stayed by himself in the pasture, away from the other males, they were always bragging and showing off, sometimes even having a spat here and there. He never participated in their shenanigans. Instead what caught his eye was a familiar face, the smoky cream mare he met almost 2 years ago had returned. She didn't have a name then, but he gave her one now.
"Mist, you came back!" He exclaimed, he had no thought that she would return to see him, her herd had moved on. Their time together had been brief, and they had become very close.
"Hello again Artagon. I'm sorry, but you have to follow me" the mare stated clearly, "I need your help." She fidgeted and looked almost like she was nervous. He took a hard look at her, they might be friends but he knew that wild horses lived a harder life than himself, and would do anything to survive.
"What exactly for? You have a herd to protect you in times of need, why me? I'm a owned horse." Artagon looked back at the pasture grass, the fences and the yard beyond. His stable block and the barn with the other horses and mares behind that in their own pasture. He didn't actually want to be here he realized, it's so... boring. He stamped his back hoof, looking back at Mist just as she finished her last sentence.
"-headed east. I could use some help finding him." Her cream tail swished a bit impatient, and he noticed that she really did need his help. Taking a sigh, he walked back a bit. The fence was no trouble for him, he sailed straight over it in silence, Mist watched in awe, she expected to have to open the gate, but Artagon flew like a champion jumper. Thankfully the other stallions did not notice the pair dissapear into the mountains.
Artagon followed mist through the woods and they passed many meadows. He still did not know what they searched for, as Mist would not tell him, instead they just followed the tracks made by her herd. East as expected. They had been following for a few days by then, but they finally came across the herd. Mist hung her head as they walked past the other horses, she acted ashamed. The lead stallion did not even challenge Artagon as he entered, he also hung his head and looked away from the pair. Artagon still followed the mare, and towards the back of the herd was the herds babysitter. Many foals romped around the sharp elderly mare, but as soon as Mist stepped forward one in particular bounded over. The foals mane was white as snow, and he was a creamy color, like the mare in front of him.
"Mist... Is this your foal? I never knew you had young." She looked back at him with her head a little low, "He is mine yes..." and she had a long pause before she could continue. Artagon became anxious, "but he is yours as well.. I had him last year, and I hope you don't mind but I would ask you to join our ranks. The lead mare has allowed it, and the head stallion says he won't challenge you for your new family." Artagon started, taken aback by the reality setting in. He had a foal, a mare, a family. And in an instant he knew he would never return, all he wanted, all he needed, was right here. It was the best day of his life.
"I accept."
It was probably the most cool thing he found in his entire life, a foal that belonged to him.Tolter: Artagon
