Duckkit is scared of something others may find silly or pathetic. It is his fear of public speaking. He doesn't want to be a clan's deputy or leader due to this fear, and he definitely doesn't want to be a respected and popular warrior who is given patrol leads all the time. He just doesn't want the responsibility of talking to others outside of times where it is absolutely needed, and he definitely doesn't want to be the cat in charge and giving orders.

This is caused by former experiences. Before his mother abandoned him, he had a sister named Twig. Twig ignored him whenever he talked and often called him stupid. She would insult his opinions and say he was being idiotic when he asked questions, so he just tuned himself out of social life altogether. Now, he avoids a lot of social confrontation, avoids discussing controversial topics with others, and definitely doesn't talk in front of large groups. He believes he isn't the right cat for these tasks, and as much as he wants to overcome these fears, he struggles due to Twig and her memory. He is now in a state where he feels as if his opinion and words are not worth listening to.

Prompt: Since the day she first saw them, Fawnpaw is deathly afraid of fish, which is positively silly to the rest of the clan considering the fact that they eat fish often. She finds them gross and when they move and wiggle she will jump all the time and even runs away from them.

"You're afraid?" Ravenmoon questioned gazing down at her young apprentice before snickering a bit, "Why? They are harmless and delicious." She said, Fawnpaw pinned her ears back tightly, "I-It's not funny! They a-are horrible, the way they jump and squirm... a-and... they smell awful!" She protested a little upset her mentor would laugh at her fear.

"It's irrational to fear fish, we are cats and warriors, we eat fish." She said, "I thought all life was precious to a medicine cat?" Fawnpaw countered, "Would you consider a fish precious?" Ravenmoon returned the counter with a grin watching as Fawnpaw's ears slicked back. "No..." She mumbled lightly and looked down. "Exactly... prey is to be respected I agree with you on that, which is why we only hunt what we need to feed the clan." She said.

"Though between you and me some could use without the extras." She smirked a bit, Fawnpaw giggled a bit softly before she sighed, "So... why do you really fear fish?" Ravenmoon asked, Fawnpaw pinned her ears back, "When I was little one landed on my head and scared me, it slapped me in the face with it's tail before it jumped into the river. The fish know how to fight back! It's scary!" Fawnpaw protested and Ravenmoon giggled a bit shaking her head and blinked as Smallkit and Wolfkit ran over happily to eat the freshly caught fish, "Ah ah you two are still drinking milk, no fish till you are older... there are small bones you could choke." She mumbled putting the fish away.

"Awh Mom!" Smallkit whined as he pawed towards it with a squeak. Wolfkit sighed and sat down, "Yes Mother..." He mumbled lightly. "Good riddance..." Fawnpaw shivered squeamish as she watched it go. Smallkit blinked, "Are you afraid?" He asked, "N-No!" Fawnpaw protested once again before she paled and shook her head as they laughed at her again, she pouted and turned away heading to her den. Why was it so funny to them?

There was nothing funny about fearing a creature with sharp pines and teeth sometimes, even the small ones were deadly for sure, how could they want to eat such horrible creatures? It didn't make sense to her but she wouldn't argue... they would never understand her.

Prompt:
For something so common, so accepted by the clan as a part of life to cause fear in the kit, it would sound silly to anyone but herself she was sure. There was a reason for her fear though, one she couldn’t get over or share with another for fear of them laughing at her and telling her she wasn’t good enough to be a warrior if she was afraid of such a thing.

Mice, with there beady little eyes and there sharp overhanging teeth, Marigoldkit finds herself frozen with fear when she sees one of the creatures.

A live one found itself terrified in the nursery when Marigoldkit was only two moons old, most likely an apprentice catch that didn’t end up as it should have. The thing was in fight mood though and the young kit didn’t stand a chance against it claws and teeth. She’d tried to kill it herself once she found it, but found herself instead outmatched by the creature almost her size. Her mother had taken it out instead, the she-kit shaking with fear at something she’d called prey before, something she now felt like.

Needless to say, the young kit now avoids the creatures like the plague, refusing to go anywhere near them and always having an excuse ready when someone offers her one.

“No, I’m sorry I’m not hungry,” even if her stomach had growled moments before. “You know I really don’t like mice, thank you though,” although she had loved the taste before. The mice now knew what she tasted like and in her mind, that was enough for her to fear them.

A fear she couldn’t share of course, although she suspected her mother knew there was something up after what had happened. She just hoped she wouldn’t let it slip, she couldn’t live with herself is Aspenpaw or Adderpaw found out, the pair of brothers would tease her forever about it. Doekit might not as much, but who wouldn’t tease a cat for being afraid of mice! They were supposed to eat them not run from them.

So Marigoldkit kept her fear to herself, for in her mind she was the prey now instead of the mice, but that didn’t mean anyone else needed to know that.

"C'mon, Lichenkit! Everyone is afraid of something," the pale kitten said to the classic tabby tom, her voice inviting him to answer. "What is it that you're afraid of?"

Lichenkit shook his head stubbornly and sighed, figuring she would find out about his odd fear sooner or later. "I guess you're going to find out sooner or later...." the kit said sadly, not looking at the newcomer. "Everyone else knows of it, and they all make fun of me for it."

The pale female kit tilted her head curiously before sitting down, readying herself for a story. "I promise not to laugh if you tell me what it is," she said with kind eyes.

"Don't make promises you can't keep," he said in a harsher tone than he meant to, but the pale kitten didn't react at all to his words, she just sat and waited for him to continue. Lichenkit took in a deep breath before continuing, "It's an extremely embarrassing fear, one that I don't truly understand why it scares me as much as it does. All of the other kits and even all of the apprentices that hear about it make fun of me for it because they think it's dumb for me to be afraid of it."

His voice trailed off and he paused, thinking of a way to say it without sounding dumber than he already thought he did.

"It'll be better to just go out and say it, Lichenkit," she said softly, looking up at him with a gentle gaze.

"Okay then.... I'm afraid of my own shadow."

Pine's heart raced as the other apprentices in the den brought up the topic of fears. Their eyes travelled from cat to cat as they each shared their fears.
"Stonewave! Have you seen her angry?"
Laughs erupted in the den, and once they'd quieted down with the shushing of an annoyed queen, their eyes were on her.
She shifted her gaze off of her white paws, "Umm, I don't think I'm scared of anything I can think of right now..."
"Don't lie Pine! Everyone has a fear! What is yours?"
"Well, I guess drowning. The river's currents can get so fast sometimes," The she-cat explained.
The other apprentices seemed satisfied, and looked over to the next cat.
It was a pretty dumb lie, but she couldn't share her secret! They'd laugh harder at her than at the jokes! She knew she couldn't tell anyone.
Having a fear of leaving the territory? That's crazy, what would happen of the clan disbanded, or they had to find a new camp due to two-legs? What would this cat do? Pine didn't know! How would she? Of course she's not afraid of such a thing.
Or at least that's what Pine would try to convince herself of, but whenever she stepped her paw on the border, the thought of going any farther terrified her. Holding her tail down low, she'd distance herself from it.
"I swear I smelt, like, a fox or badger over there," Pine defended herself.
Anything to get herself away from the dreadful, mysterious areas outside the territory lines.

They look like death. He can't really explain when or where the fear struck him- all he knows is that it struck him hard. The fresh kill is usually littered with fish here in BeachClan. Occasionally there is a mammal from the forest, caught by one of the land hunters that sits upon the pile. Sparrow is terrified of them and for what he believes to be good reason.


He really didn't remember much before joining the clan, the warm nests and salty waters were the earliest he'd think to recall. What did haunt his mind was one late afternoon as the sun began falling towards ocean, the blank stare that struck him was of a squirrel on the fresh kill pile. He couldn't really describe it but it was as if the beast was staring at him, blaming him for it demise. It was picked out of the pile by one of the wave runners but the whole time it was carried it stared, casting judgement upon him.
Ever since that uneventful day he can't stand any creature in the prey pile that isn't fish- especially squirrels. A few of the kits thought it would be funny to play a prank on him, capitalising on his fear by leaving squirrels around his nest. It's only made his fear worse, he can be nearly inconsolable to the point that the clan's leadership has decided to separate the land prey and ocean prey into different piles, one hidden away so that SparrowKit can have room to grow out of his fear on his own. The apprentices were sat together, chattering excitedly over the events that had come to pass.

“Did you see Eagleclaw? She singlehandedly took down that rogue, not even waiting for the backup.”

“That rogue got what he deserved.”

“She’s so brave.”

The apprentices gushed over their deputy. “You must feel so lucky to have her as your mentor and mother, Doepaw,” one of the apprentices says.

Doepaw just looked down. “Not really?”

The apprentices whipped their heads round, staring at the she-cat with their mouths agape. “You’re joking, right? She’s the best, how could you not feel lucky?”

“She’s scary,” Doepaw whispers shamefully.

With that confession, the cats laughed, thinking she was joking. Then, when they realised that she was serious, they laughed harder.

The forest was silent as Doepaw stood in a defensive position, not expecting to find the rogue without her mentor. “What are you doing here?” She hissed, her hackles raised, and her claws were unsheathed.

“I’m just looking for my child,” the rogue says, lowering herself to the ground, revealing her stomach. “Please, I just want to find her then I’ll leave.”

Doepaw sheathed her claws, lowering her hackles. “Explain yourself,” she hissed, still trying to remain intimidating, but she then remembered the code and respecting non-violent loners. Since that is what is cat was, not a rogue, just a loner.

“My kit was taken by a clan-cat who claimed the kit as her own. I need to save her. I just want to take my kit and leave; no harm needs to be done.”

Before Doepaw could reply, a hiss was heard and Eagleclaw flew through the trees, launching herself at the rogue, claws released, ready to snare the neck of the unsuspecting cat. As Eagleclaw hit the loner, sending her tumbling to the ground, Doepaw let out a yell, “please don’t hurt her.”

“Explain yourself, Doepaw,” Eagleclaw snarled impatiently, digging her claws into the neck of the rogue, drawing blood.

“She’s just looking for her kit. Our duty as warriors of Thornclan is to help loners.”

Eagleclaw slashed her claws against the loner, leaving her bleeding. “No, Doepaw, our duty as warriors is to protect the clan from those who want to hurt it, like this rogue who wants to take one of our kits under the guise that its hers.”

As Doepaw stared at the loner, her body shaking with fear, Eagleclaw was already heading back towards camp.

When the apprentice made it back to camp, Eagleclaw was surrounded by cats as she explains the events. “Her plan was to come into our camp and steal our for her own sinister plan to create her own clan and use them to hurt our clan. I dealt with her and she won’t be a problem again.”

Doepaw thinks about the kit that Eagleclaw had mothered and things began to click within her head. “That was my mother,” Doepaw whispers in horror.

"Fear, fear- is what drives me. I am afraid, of being afraid"

Redpaw is not afraid of anything tangible, she's not afraid of the dangerous things, of fire or death, she's not afraid of her clanmates- or enemy clans, or even the nasty gators in the woods. Sure, she might get a good adrenaline rush and flee from them, but not unreasonably. Surely, the others wouldn't fail to understand or tease her for a reasonable fear.

What she is afraid of, is being too afraid. She's terrified of this vision she continues to have- call it a premonition from starclan, a warning, or call it a silly dream of a young cat. A vision of being frozen, like a cat stunned in the center of the great thunderpaths as the monster comes barreling towards them. The thought of letting down her clan and of letting down herself when the moment is most dire is one she cant escape.

Her every action is shaped, formed around this great fear, to the point of stark paranoia that makes her stand out among the apprentices, every small confrontation scares her away for her fear that it could be the great moment that she herself brings great disaster to her clans.

Her fear is a great one, and a heavy burden on such a tiny kit. She however, shapes and nurtures her own fear and makes it a thousand times worse than it already is.

And truly, it could have just been a bad dream after all.
