pock!pock! pock! The branches below her splintered and began to drip. She had to move, otherwise she'd be hit. It was three on one, although she'd faced worse odds before. She jumped to the next tree, nearly slipping and falling 20 feet to the ground. It wouldn't kill her, but it'd hurt.
pock! pock pock!More splinters, closer this time. She couldn't stay in the trees, but getting down without being hit would be a challenge.
Peering through the tree branches she spotted one of them, took aim, and...
pock!Red began to drip down his arm, and she knew she'd hit him. One down, two to go. There wasn't enough cover to give the other two the slip, so she had to seek their moving forms between the trees. She'd never lost before, and she wasn't about to today.
There! She saw the second, his bright orange socks giving him away.
pock!Easy as cake. One more.
She'd been called a squirrel by her parents as a child. She'd never quite lost the part of her that took joy in flying through the trees. It took over now, and she was silent as she raced over branches searching for the last of the opposing team. She spotted him, and dropped from the tree,
pock!she landed at the same time as her shot. She had won yet another game. Dropping her guard, she made her way over to the opposing teammate.
pock!Something hit her in the back, knocking the wind out of her. Reaching behind her, her paw came back blue. She'd missed one. The opposing team had won.
