Prompt;;Be careful. Danger is near.Sorrelpaw stopped in her tracks, her eyes round as the moon itself.
The forest was somber-- a mysterious air, she thought, and a sense of adventure, ripe for the taking.
Yet she stopped in her tracks. "What is it, Moony?"
She never gave one thought to what kind of bird it was. Certainly on the smaller side-- ah, brown she'd say, but with an tinge of... blue. Was that too odd?
Well, she'd never know. Birds were food, not friends; except in this particular case. Would Moony consider her a friend?
Moony (dubbed so by the young Sorrelpaw; he only seemed to come out at night, and Moony was better than Starry. Starry was too childish, she decided, and wanted to give him a
proper name.) ruffled his feathers, simply issuing another warning.
Pay attention. What is it that you scent?"Oh-- I--" she stopped, scenting the air; her ears pricked, and hanged back-- "Fox--!"
And she dove into a bush; fear prickling in her pelt.
"And how did you know that?" she lay on the branch, tail lashing; her eyes brimmed with excitement and in awe; he truly seemed to be... magical. "You caught it before I did!"
In order to be a true tracker, one must be at the ready-- watchful, careful, taking in. Little tracker, you have much to learn.
And the days had passed; she considered herself quite good at her role, a true tracker; and when the day came-- oh, how exciting! Her true name, what she always wanted.. she felt whole, complete.
"Little bird, you never told me your name." her ear flicked, and she tilted her head.
Fantasma.His head bowed, dark eyes untelling;
Remember.Never a trace, never his song.
After those days-- he was simply
gone.
