❄ Name: Mowgli
❄ Sex: Female
❄ Collar: Microchipped (Sweater)
❄ Prompt: She loves winter! It's the only time of the year that she sees the mysterious white stuff that she sees from her window! As much as she tries to squeeze outside for a better look, her owner always catches her! And don't even get her started on the cat (Vivian she's been told she's called) that gets to go outside! Honestly as if it wasn't unfair enough! But besides that, she loves how her owner gets all cheerful and smiles and it's nice. Especially to see some sparks happen between her and that lovely lady that's been coming around. Mowgli can't help wanting to play matchmaker.
❄ Personality: Mowgli is a deeply silly cat. Innocent and young, she tends to spend most of her time playfully trailing after anything that moves and likes to pretend she's a fierce giant cat despite the truth is far from that. After coming to her new home she's sought after the cat detective Vivian, curiously having never met a detective before. She's inquisitive and smart but rarely shows it when she's racing down the hall at top speed or trying to show off her 'moves'. As such she tends to be quite the pawful, but she's easy to befriend and warm up to once you get past all that energy she has.
The New Cat
In all her life of being a cat detective, she'd never once thought of the possibility of having a 'sibling'. Until recently anyhow. Now that she was back from her perilous journey into the unknowns of street cat life, Vivian was finding things to finally be settling down. Especially since she and Jenny had talked and things had finally relaxed a bit. While she wondered about her birth mother and siblings often, Vivian felt no need to be involved with their way of life, not after how well she'd been taken care of here. But imagine her surprise when after a long case that took almost three days she finds a new cat in her home.
And Bridget didn't seem to realize just how strange it was.
"She'll be staying with us for a little while," was all she'd said when Vivian tried to voice her complaints about this sudden arrangement. Not to say she had anything against the cat, but this was her home. And if Vivian was feeling a bit territorial over it well sue her! After all, it's not like she wanted another cat around. The strangest thing about the cat wasn't that she was hairless, although it added to the strangeness, with how energetic she was!
In the day alone she'd met her, she learned her name was Mowgli, she was only a year old, and she ran through the house like a rocket, skidding across the wooden floors in the kitchen, jumping onto tables and shelves alike and knocking things off like she owned them, playing roughly with Vivian's toys.
And Vivian had enough when she saw what she did to Detective Squeakers.
So why was she feeling so guilty now? Maybe she shouldn't have attacked the new cat so fiercely. She didn't have fur after all so it must've hurt a bit worse when she had hit her with her claws. Shame made her pelt prickle when she padded along after her toys and heard pawsteps skittering away from her in panic. Even Bridget seemed disappointed in her.
"Vivian! No!"
It just wasn't fair! No one told her about this new person and while she did tend to bring cats, dogs, hamsters over to her "office" window, she had never let them stay for long. So why was this new cat staying? Feelings of unease made her stomach churn and she tried not to be found after the 'incident'. But still Christmas was coming and with Christmas meant a chance. While Bridget made goo-goo eyes at the neighbor down the hall, Vivian would try to set things right between herself and Mowgli.
That moment arose on a brisk December morning when Bridget had gone out looking for inspiration. Vivian was planning to go with her when she noticed a pair of golden eyes watching after her almost enviously from underneath the couch. Quietly and carefully she made her way over, watching as the eyes widened but didn't run away.
Lying down, Vivian eyed the cat under the couch.
"What do you want?" Came a tiny growl that was even less intimidating than a mouse's squeak and the eyes narrowed in on her. But the calico did nothing more than licking her chest fur in an unhurried manner. And figuring she wouldn't be batted at, Mowgli leaned closer.
"To know why you keep watching me." The explanation was unphased, and Vivian watched as Mowgli sputtered out in denial. Vivian's tail flickered as she fixed the younger cat with a stare. The young hairless feline glanced away shyly, eyes cast downward.
"What's it like?" She asked softly, so quiet Vivian almost didn't hear her. "What's what like?" The calico asked and the feline in the sweater shifted nervously under the couch, even now filled with restless energy.
"The snow." Ah. Snow. Vivian was brought up short by the question. But comprehension dawned on her. Bridget never let the young girl go outside. Something about it being too cold. She'd never have believed it true but now that she thought on it, it made sense. "It's cold, she began as she thought on it. "It bites."
"And it hurts?"
"No."
"But it's cold."
"Yes, but it doesn't hurt anyone?"
"It doesn't hurt anyone."
The line of questions stopped and both, Vivian and Mowgli were closer than before, both curious.
"You've never been in snow?"
"Not ever, I always get put back inside before I get to it."
Vivian hummed. "Well, it's cold and wet. It sinks into your...oh yeah well it makes you very cold." The detective noted that Mowgli was getting closer but instead of mentioning it, she instead curled her tail closer. "It can sting your paws." Vivian watched as the young she-cat looked down at her own paws she stifled a mrrow of amusement.
