Poem:
Lofty trees and roaring creeks,
Deer and birds and mountain peaks,
Darting chipmunks, chirping loud,
Clear blue sky without a cloud.
On and up the mountain green
I strode with steady pace, serene and gazed amazed, at a virgin land,
Untouched, I thought, by human hand.
Yet my thoughts were wrong,
The humans seemed to sing their song,
One of death and destruction.
It's been two years since I saw the place,
And now it mourns in black disgrace.
There are no more trees and no more creeks,
And birds don't sing in the mountain peaks.
Theres a clear blue sky without a cloud
But the ground is in a jet black shroud.
A forest fire, by a careless hand,
Destroyed this natural forest land.
