Prompt: this song is just a reflection of what fogstep is feeling inside. he feels utterly lonely within fernclan (even though everybody is so welcoming and loves each other and cares for each other). rationally he knows he isn't alone and that the entire clan loves him, but he can't seem to shake the emptiness he feels inside (especially when he fights alongside his clan members). he hasn't found someone to be with just yet, and that breaks his heart. it makes him feel like he isn't good enough for anybody. hopefully one day, he'll be able to realize his worth inside the clan and find someone who wants to spend the rest of their life with him.

"You....you lied to me" His voice was hoarse as he choked the words out, looking to the molly that he trusted with his heart.

"Vine, please" Azalea stuttered, taking a step to him only to see him stumble backwards away from her - as if she was some monster. "I-I saved you! I risked everything for you!" she begged for him to look at her, to understand why she did it.

"YOU TOOK ME FROM MY LIFE!" His lungs burned with the anger that sparked, tears brimming his once love-struck hazel eyes. Memories flashed through his mind, two lives with two hearts fracturing as his old life colliding with the one he had created now. "Who was I? Before you? Before you ruined everything!" he demanded with ferocity.

Her paws trembled as she stared into the dirt. "We were from the same clan" she started, flinching as old wounds threatened to open and spill over. "I was an outcast, you were a hero. You were the only one who was kind to me. I loved you" her voice had become quiet, meek and weak willed. She knew this was was coming, but never did she prepare her heart for this breaking point. "and you loved her.."

"This scar? was this you too?" Vine hissed with venom lacing his words. The scar across his face was jagged and glaring, often the first thing anyone noticed; a broken tom.

"No! No.." She cried desperately, "There was an ambush. You didn't run like the others and they almost killed you. I-I couldn't let that happen" the molly squeezed her eyes closed tightly at the memory of him bleeding out before her played again. "Everyone was dead or disappeared into woods. I couldn't leave you" she glanced up to him once more, wincing at the hatred carved into his features. "I took you to the Ripple Caves and cared for you..and when you woke up -" she hiccuped, tears spilling down her face, "when you woke up you didn't remember anything, Vine."

"So you thought you could just make up whatever story you wanted?" The tom snarled, though his anger was lessening as sorrow filled his heart.

"I loved you -"

"AND I TRUSTED YOU!" He cried now, falling onto his knees with the force of his dread. Azalea rushed to his side, trying to help him up but he pushed her away. "It seems we we're both wrong" Vine cooed, turning away from the molly he spent the past three years with.

"I will pray that you find it within your heart to forgive me" Her voice cracked as she watched him, "I did it all for you, all for this love. You are my everything."

"I can't forgive you if you still hold my heart" It came out quieter than a whisper, a phrase uttered only between the two. He kept his back to her, hot tears staining his cheeks as he began his journey away; away from her, the life they had built - or the one she created for him. To find his home, the mate he left behind - the entire world that he was taken from.

"Goodbye, my tattered vine," Azalea sang into the night breeze as his silhouette vanished from the horizon.
