Cavern tripped over a root as she was running. I must get away, she thought. She glanced back in fear, searching for the demon, looking forward again to see the shadow in front of her. She got up from her fall and ran away. The monster was walking behind, dragging its body along the forest floor. Cavern ran for what felt like hours until she reached a little hut in the middle of the woods. The hut was made of wood on top of little stilts, and was obviously old. Wow, I am literally in a horror movie, she thought. Cavern ran up the stairs to the already opened door and stepped inside, the floor creaking underneath her weight. Suddenly, the floor gave out and she let out a shriek. Outside, the monsters ears perked up, sensing her presence and Cavern suddenly realized her mistake. She got up and stood underneath the house while the monster took a look around. Cavern then noticed that the monster was blind and he was going by his hearing. She stood still, not wanting to crush any leaves around her. The monster scanned the area, his ears up. A squirrel than jumped from a tree and was ambushed by the monster. Only a few minutes later, the leaves were now soaked in red and Cavern closed her eyes. She then leaped up to where the floor was cracked in the house where she had fallen through a few minutes earlier. The monster was busy eating the squirrel bones. Cavern slid up until her whole body was on top of the floor. She grabbed a piece of splintered wood. This is when it comes down to fighting, she thought. The monster finished with the squirrel, now in search of more. Cavern peeked out of the hole in the floor. The monster was staring at her, besides the fact that he had no eyes. She jumped out of the hole, stake first and stabbed right through the monster. She got up and watched as the monster wriggled in pain. She then ran off while she still could, and collapsed once she got home. She began to second guess if the black shadow was dead, she didn't want to be jumped later on. Cavern went to the spot where she attacked the monster almost immediately, and he was gone. All that was left was a puddle of blood and the squirrel. There was a trail, a stretched out trail of an orange-ish paint starting from where the monster was stabbed. She followed this path. After walking for 10 minutes, the path came to an end, and up above, the monster was sitting in a tree, looking at her. He had his teeth bared, each a tiny dagger. Cavern stopped in her tracks. Once the monster lunged, she jumped to the side. The monster's head was pushed in as he hit the ground. He didn't move. Cavern bent down and caught her breath. Then she went home for good this time.
