there are stories of him. stories of a boy who lives down at the creek. he never wears shoes and is very afraid of people.
they say great horns grow from his head, and that is why he chooses to hide.

really, though, ikan just prefers to be alone. a peaceful mid-day nap was underway when he remembered that he had
somewhere to be. occasionally glancing at his silver pocket watch, he tore through the woods fast as the wind. thorns
scratched at his ankles and patches of weeds tried to grab onto his bare feet. he splashed through the creek and sent
a school of fish swimming in a multitude of directions. all the way past the junkyard and through the old campground,
a large abandoned garage sat. inside, there was nothing but an old television whose antennas had to be adjusted often.

when ikan arrived, he was barely out of breath. in a few swift motions, the TV was up and running. as the screen faded
into view and soft sound began to crackle from the box, something lit up in his eyes. a sudden excitement surged thro-
ughout his whole body, and ikan couldn't help the tiny smile his lips were twitching into. at once, the dull colors showed
up on the screen as the opening of "Wilderness Jack" began to play.

"Wilderness Jack, Wilderness Jack!
oh, he's the bravest of them all.
he can wrangle a snake, wrestle a gator,
maybe he'll box with a kangaroo later.

Thorn - he didnt want direct connection with his family 'Rose' but wanted it to be similar.

Relations with family:
Vlad - not necessarily positive but not negative either, more neutral. samuel respects his father, believe it or not, & he sees why the male lives his life the way that he does. he appreciates his father for not just booting him out of his life, but trying to incorporate him into it, as criminal as that life may be, and there are times he thinks back about time spent together and smiles.
Hikaru - well, samuel is aware that his second father has no idea that he or his siblings exist, but he cant help but be incredibly curious about hikaru. samuel doesnt think he looks very much like his mother or vlad, so he assumes he must get his looks from his other father. he would like to try and track him down/find him someday, but doesnt even know where to start really.
Mirrin - honestly his older half sister is like the mom he never had. when he would visit her townhouse, he always found himself smiling at her antics. all she wanted was to make his siblings happy and keep them safe; he could appreciate that. at times, he would tease her for one reason or another, but underneath it he truly loved her, and hopes she knows that.
Vivienne - part of him felt bad for her when she was born mute, but as soon as she started using her powers to take over others bodies and using them to speak for her, that feeling sorry for her vanished. he was wary of her for a bit, but it turns out his own mind/mental powers counteract hers so she cannot enter his mind, which is nice. they have gotten into 'arguments' before, of him comparing her to their father vlad, using her magical powers to manipulate others. the fights dont usually turn out very positively.
Sinbad - sam doesnt hate his brother, but sinbad cant stand their parents, especially vlad, and since sam spent half of his life bouncing between their home and vlad's, there's definitely tension here. sinbad seems to think that he isnt loyal to the right people in the family or something like that; sam ignores it or rolls his eyes most of the time, but if he gets irritated enough he'll use his telekinetic powers and either throw something at his brother or just throw his brother.
Charlie - okay so like. his older sister but she is also his favorite sibling (shhh dont tell mirrin!). since the other two siblings from their litter are close, it only makes sense that these two are as well. he appreciates his sister's intellect, not judging/hating their parents immediately like their other siblings, and even prods at her curiosity towards them. if she ever wanted to meet them, to ask them why, sam would gladly take her to vlad, and would do everything in his power to find their other two parents as well. he would track them to the ends of the earth if he had to, if thats what would make charlie happy.

Personality (extra): he knows what he wants and he goes after it. he can be described as cunning, but is vehemently against being called manipulative, as he disagrees strongly. Samuel is actually quite good at appearing relatable to other kalons, based on his telepathy. he uses his telepathic abilities to look into the minds of those around him, and then builds his responses/actions/behaviors towards that kalon based on specifically what he saw in their mind. he is very self-confident and while some may relate his smile to appearing cocky, he prefers describing himself as strong-willed and determined.

this had never happened before; in the hundreds of years since the founding of the country, kratos' senate seats had been made up of older kalons who typically were elected once and then reelected every 6 years with no opposition. but there was an open seat in the senate, due to the recent death of a very old senator who had spent the last thirty or more years as a senator, and instead of the regular elections, the kratoan emperor Cambyses and his wife, the empress Stateira, were hosting a contest to fill the position. they wanted new blood, new opinions, to be heard, and thus all competitors must be between the ages of 18-30 years old; up until this point.

the island country of Kratos was several hundred miles away from the island country of Evaloria. but the contest is such a big deal that it was being broadcast publicly not only in kratos but also to all neighboring countries. Samuel actually grew up the first 19 years of his life bouncing between two 'family' homes, depending on how much of his father he could take for how long. at times he would be with his father Vladimir, going into the underground black market and spending time in the casino, watching his father use his powers to manipulate people. when he gets tired of that, he goes to spend time with his half-sister Mirrin and his three littermates, which feels a lot more like an actual home.



the tv show was a lot like a game show mixed with a competition, rather than a normal senate race. it did consist of some of the usual things, such as live public forums to answer any questions that the audience wanted to ask their possible future senators, as well as debates between the competitors about what they stood for and why they were better than their opponents. but it also contained a unique aspect that was fun to watch on the tv; magical challenges, testing ones ability to connect either spiritually with the gods or magically with the universe around you. in all of these areas, Samuel excelled to the top, winning the highest judges scores as well as the highest audience approval, and as the competition wound down to a close, Samuel was elected the youngest Senator ever, and the first who was born outside of Kratos.
