Gif:Story:Ever since Rodney was just a little viscling, he had always wanted to swim. His adopted family, one of humans, always tried their best to train him. He wasn’t very great at it, and they all knew it. Maybe it was the proportions of his tiny arms and large legs. Maybe it was his lack of coordination, as he was quite a clumsy fellow.
As he got older, he tried to play with local dogs in the lake. Even at a young age he was significantly larger than the rest of them. That, and his flailing of his paws, scared all of his new found friends away.
Rodney told himself that he wouldn’t go back in the water for as long as he lived. He had embarrassed himself with those dogs, even his owners friends laughed at him when he swam.
One day, while he was watching quietly from the dock a family of ducks swam by. They all made it look so easy, all except one duckling trailing in the back. Rodney cocked his head in confusion. The little duck was kicking in the same way Rodney kicked. After a while of watching him swim in circles, Rodney decided to join in! He still wasn’t good, neither was the duckling. They made a nice pair in that way!
The duck and Rodney saw each other almost daily, and Rodney’s family began to notice the friendship that was forming. At the time it was fall, and as Winter came, Rodney didn’t get to see his duck friend as much.
Come Spring, only the duckling’s Mom was on the lake. Poor Rodney was unaware of the fact that his little duck friend would go away eventually.
His family felt sorry, his friend had left him without warning. Now Rodney was left to awkwardly swim alone. So, for his birthday, they purchased him a floatie. A duck floatie! Not only would it help him to swim a little easier, it would be a nice reminder of his older pal.
On the morning of April 15th, the family took Rodney out to the dock and had the two daughters cover his eyes. While his eyes were closed they put goggles on his head and his floatie around his waist. When he opened on his eyes he was surprised to see his little gift! That wasn’t the biggest surprise though, when he jumped into the water he floated around with ease! No more kicking, and flailing! The biggest smile appeared on Rodney’s face. He had a new duck friend, one who could help him swim whenever he wanted.
