Why: You see a lost looking camper at the edge of the camp, you approach just incase you can do something to help out. "Hello, why don't you come over and join the others?" You ask.

The camper replies bitterly, "People suck. Isn't that obvious? No? Well let me explain. Humanity sucks on a large scale, children are starving in Africa while in the US we waste 35 million tonnes of food per year. Children are even starving and dying from lack of healthcare here. Humanity sucks. Even on a small scale people suck. Individuals suck. They're your friend for a couple of years and then they stab you in the back. People suck so I'd rather keep to myself, thank you very much." (124 words)

Darrius looked towards the other kalon, but it seemed that they didn't respond. In the darkness, it was hard to understand what they were trying to convey. The kalon moved to poke Darrius' arm, some pokes lasting longer than others, as some were confusingly short. Something clicked in Darrius' head after a while of poking, and he asked the other kalon to poke him again. It was morse code. Darrius had never seen it used like this before, but even if it was strange, it was working. He could be able to understand the basic words being given to him.

"M-U-T-E" He spoke the letters aloud, and he gasped slightly once it hit him. "You're Mute?" He asked, only for the other kalon to nod intensely enough for Darrius to see the movement of shadows in the darkness. More poking, and Darrius made out another word. "B-U-L-L-I-E-D" Darrius felt his face fall into a sad expression as he felt wet tears fall onto his paw. Another set of pokes had been disturbed by the kalon bringing their paws to their eyes. "S-C-A-R-E-D" The noises of their tears echoed in the darkness, and Darrius moved to hug the other. Poor thing.

Pine swore softly under his breath, smacking the flashlight against his paw. Why did it have to go dead now?! And so far away from the other campers? Just as he was thinking he was going to have to risk it and make a dash for the group, the flashlight sprung to life and illuminated... a face?

Both parties jumped momentarily, the flashlight flying from Pine's hand and somewhere off to his left. It would be tricky to find, but now both were shaking like a leaf and getting over the shock,

"Who are you?" Pine managed to choke out after getting his breath back, "Why are you here all alone, too, I don't recognize you..?"

The other Kalon seemed surprised by the question, before giving a shrug, "I just like to be alone. Crowds and loud noises make me pretty nervous, so it's a lot easier just... hanging out over here,"

"Don't you get lonely..?"

"Yes, but it's fine. I like it like this,"

Pine had a feeling this was not the full truth.

Did you spend time, as a child, alone in darkness?

He tilts his head, but you don't interrupt. You know he isn't finished.

What about trapped in light? Surrounded by brightness so intense you can see nothing but white through closed eyelids? Always with someone else who cares nothing for who you are, but only how you appear?

A pained expression flashes briefly, and his eyes close, before they snap back to you with a deep intensity. His voice, already soft, drops to whispers.

I've been both. Darkness by choice, light by force. When you're trapped in such light, you can't help but hate it. When you're finally free, you seek what darkness you lacked. Before you know it? Night is when you thrive.
I'm alone, because others force me into light. It's where they think we should be... but I don't belong.
Besides. Close your eyes and listen. Out here, you can't be alone.

You do so, and slowly understand the call of this Music of the Night.

So tell me, he whispers, at home in the darkness, what isn't there to love about this?

With those words, he smiles softly, before he fades into the dark once more.

"Were you afraid of the dark as a child?"

Kazuki snickered, his fangs showing as he laughed. "Why would I ever be scared of that? The darkness has always been my friend. Keeping me hidden from the public eye."

"Your friend? You dont like the refreshing sun? The beauty of the light?"

Kazuki broke out laughing "no way, why would I ever? The darkness keeps me away from the problems of people."

"Why do you like being alone so much? Hiding in the shadows to avoid people?"

Kazuki fell over a silence. "Have you ever felt like you were being watched, eyes glued to you? Keeping you on your toes, afraid of whats watching you? Someone following you?"

"...yes?"

Kazuki looked towards the sky. "People are like monsters. They judge, they pick on you till your torn down. They want to keep you lower than them. They watch you crumble, and find joy in the fact you dont feel as good as them. I would rather find myself hiding in the shadows, then the judging eyes and harsh words pelting me from every side. The darkness is a safety, keeping me away from what I hate the most. The public.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Stumbling through the forest, Kai hadn't realized that she strayed from Saki and Atlas until it was too late. She held a dead flashlight in one paw, a half-eaten granola bar in the other. The young Kalon skipped through the dark and untouched parts of the forest, shining as if she were the sun. She turned around to sign her cabin-mates a question, but found that empty space had replaced them. Before she could do anything else, her leg nuzzled it's way into a tree root, sending her flying forward.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kai's eyes widened as she bowled into the entrance of a cave, holding her stuff close. Two shining eyes met hers as Kai scooted away quickly, but managing to catch a glimpse of something golden behind the creature. Letting out a huff, she held out the granola bar, offering it to them. She received a grumble in return, as they sat on top of their golden hoard, looking down on the kit. They feared that if they left, a stranger would steal their possessions. Kai was determined to befriend them and lead them out.

Jack, in truth, had purposefully left his flashlight back at kamp. He preferred to navigate by the stars... only problem being he couldn’t see them through the thick canopies. He could, however, make out the sleek form of another kalon, not a familiar kamper either.

Jack slunk closer, gingerly sweeping through the brush.
Before he could lift s finger, the larger kalon spoke, a gruff voice which signaled he wasn’t in the mood to play. “Don’t think about touching me, kid.”

Jack faltered, mouth agape.

“So... why then are you here?” The voice echoed again, seemingly sending tremors through the forest floor.

Jack regained his composure, however brief, to fire the question directly back at the stranger.

“Night hike. Why are YOU here?”

Piercing eyes swung to meet Jack’s own. “Mutiny. For what else would a big, scarred man wander the forests for? You have no place here, just as I. Go home while you still have a home to call kid.”

The figure sighed, brushing past Jack. “I’ll take you back.”

Jack merely followed, questions buzzing in his head with answers long buried by the kalon that stood before him.

Why: Elli loved being alone. Being able to hear the sounds of nature and have no care in the World. She loved the feeling of liberation, of nothing to tie her down and no one to tell her what to do. Elli was wild and free and would never give it up for anything - not even chocolate. Elli loved the feeling of waking up in the Morning to the warm sun, the excited chirping and singing of birds and the buzzing of bees. She loved the smell of pine, and her cave was decorated with different wild herbs to give it an amazing scent. Elli was born in the wild and had never seen another kalon other than her mother, who left when she was a kit. Elli learned to fend for herself and live in the wild and could only imagine the horror of living in a city with nothing but noise and polluted air. The only thing Elli longed for was contact with another living being, But she wouldn't give up her freedom for it. [176/200]

Why: "Psst! Do you know where we are?" Seki asked the other Kalon in a whisper; why? She doesn't know. But only thing she can tell is that someone else is out here with her, and Seki is determined to figure out why this other someone is out here alone for no apparent reason.
A solemn voice started to say something quietly... "I'm out here to avoid the Kampers... too cheery. I need some quiet. I'm misunderstood... I'm out here because maybe I can have some peace and quiet away from everyone else. Among other reasons." Seki tilted her head in confusion... this kalon, a girl she'd determined, had to be lying to her. There's plenty of spots in kamp that are dead quiet. Besides, why would they choose the middle of the woods?

This is a mystery that Seki is going to solve, because she doesn't like people who lie to her.

Eyes wider then they've ever been before Terry sat unmoving against a tree, not believing that he had just done what he think he did. I mean sure he was brave in that moment! Fearless even but the moment she asked "Can I think about it?" His world crumbled. He had made sure everything was perfect with a picnic among the clouds. Hot air ballons were romantic right, or was he wrong did screw that up too!?
"Ohh no."
Curled in on himself Terry did his best not to cry as his mind raced with one bad outcome after the other. There was no way she would say yes let alone look at him again! They had known each other for years now, and over that time his feelings for her grew... until he couldn't keep his big ol' mouth shut.

Staying here in this dark foresty abyss was, but at the same time wasn't really the plan. He just didn't really want the kid that found him to know about his newfound failure of the day.
He was completzely and utterly lost...
