prompt; The way Holly gives flowers to people is a bit strange. She takes the flowers she has and the plants them into their yard. Then she writes a little note and puts it into one of the leaves and it sounds something like this "I heard that you were having a rough day, so here take this as a gift to make you feel better. Sincerely, The Gardener." Holly has been doing this her whole life and will continue until she passes away.

prompt; Bo is a very rough kal, but on the outside she always seems to be very happy and understanding. She feels like she needs to pretend she cares, when she would rather be pulling out weeds. Sometimes, to get out of her angry times, she take a single rose and takes it to anyone nearby by balancing it on her nose. She finds that concentrating on keeping it balanced makes her feel relaxed. It always makes her happy (for like one second) when the lil baby kalons start clapping and laughing.

"th-thank you!" he fumbled for change as the shopkeeper handed him a large bouquet brimming with flowers of all colors. hurriedly thanking the employee, milan sped out of the store. the bell jingled violently as he swung the glass doors open, being momentarily blinded by the bright summer sun. his feet hit the sidewalk and milan was reminded of how out of shape he was. sneaking a peak at his watch as he ran, his mouth flew open. it was 2:27, only 3 minutes until they be boarding their train.

a new wave of terror made its way through his heart, giving him the speed he needed to fly through the downtown area. at this point, the odd stares had become customary. milan's heart was pounding for various reasons, not the least of which being he hadn't done a day of exercise in his life and now he's running a fear-marathon. skidding to a stop at one of the streets, he checked his watch again. 2:29. was it 2:30? his memory was foggy from when he'd met shiloh yesterday. hoping it was at 2:30 and he hadn't missed them, milan checked the street name. silently cursing himself for being so forgetful, he took a right turn and began to pick up speed again. milan's frantic gaze searched the bright avenue for them. looking to his left, he watched as a train chugged its way into the station with a deafening screech.

heart fluttering like a caged bird, he practically leaped across the street. stepping up as tall as the short kalon could manage, milan spotted their soft pink fur. "shiloh!" he cried, hoping to be heard over the train's exhaust spilling out with a hiss. the kalon turned to face him and their face lit up. "oh, mill!" milan practically felt like he was going to faint when he heard his nickname out of their mouth. how did they know that was his nickname? at this point, he didn't really care. weaving around a few other kalons milling around, he made his way to shiloh. "i.. these yours..." his chest heaved with pressure. okay, he really needed to get in shape. holding up the assorted bouquet, he watched shiloh's face for their reaction. a blush crossed both of their faces as shiloh took the flowers. i hope they aren't taking this the wrong way, milan though, remembering that he'd only just met shiloh yesterday. "oh, they're beautiful," they paused to smell the flowers, "...oh." milan's heart sank. "wh-what's wrong with them? i just picked them up like," he glanced at his watch again, "6 minutes ago!"

shiloh took his paw in theirs, much to the shock of milan. "mill, these aren't real flowers." they giggled. "these are candy flowers. look." shiloh peeled a petal off of the tulip and munched on it. milan exhaled. they were chocolate flowers. in his rush, he'd went in the bakery by accident. "no..." he trailed off in shock. removing his hand from shiloh's, he covered his face. "i-i'm sorry! i wanted to get you a sweet parting gift because you seemed like a really nice kalon when i met you but i messed up, i was so busy with work that i just barely had the time to get here and-" shiloh cut him off by pulling him closer. "milan. you did get me a sweet parting gift." they took another bite of the chocolate tulip. "its sweeter than honey! thank you, mill." they wrapped their arms around the flustered milan. "sweetest gift ever." shiloh laughed. whether they were referring to the chocolate flowers, or this hug, milan was happy regardless.

Sunlight shined through the front windows of the shop, and sylvie found herself nervously repositioning the new addition to her shop. There’s a wooden vase placed on the counter of her stationary shop, and she’s trying to make sure it’s perfectly positioned. She glances up at the clock behind the counter and her heart pounds in her chest - it’s almost opening time. She grabbed the note off the other side of the counter, a piece of cardstock with a floral pattern on the edge. The note said: “Bad day? Good day? Please, take one!” in as nice cursive penmanship as she could muster. She propped the note up on the wooden vase, and took a step back.
Sylvie cracked a smile, she nodded, and ran into the back to retrieve the flowers. She had visited the flower shop as soon as they had opened this morning to purchase a bouquet of assorted flowers, most of them pink, to put her new flower idea into motion. She pushed the flowers into the vase and fluffed them, then she stepped back and admired her work. The vase looked nice, the flowers looked nice, and the way the sunlight stuck to the dew on the pink, purple, yellow, and white petals made her heart flutter.
She opened unlocked the door and flipped the sign on the door to open and took a quick glance around the store to make sure everything was clean and in place. Throughout the day, people come and go, and Sylvie found her heart beating faster at the light that showed up in a few of her customers’ eyes. By the end of the day the flowers had all been taken and Sylvie took pride in brightening the days of a few people. She made a note to herself to visit the florist again in the morning.

“Mama used to love flowers.”

Every morning when I wake up, 8am sharp, the sunlight drips from my lilac curtains; painting the floors with colours I used to only dream of. Since my Mama’s passing it has been hard to find colour in my life. The sun was drained from my Papa’s eyes, and sadly, I was the moon. I could not shine without him, and it made me feel like I could not be his burning star. Mama had a garden, a bright and powerful garden. Flowers would bloom every summer, and Mama would always wake me up to show me the first flower to bloom. Over the years it wilted and was drained of life. When I was 16, my Papa bought me a beautiful Arum-lily, and told me to plant it in the garden. Since then, I’ve always loved gardening. Each day when I wake up I go to the garden and pick a few flowers to give out to people who I believe need them the most. Arum-lilies are flowers that symbolise beauty, faith, and over coming tough challenges, which is why I give them out every summer morning. I’d skip joyfully to others who don’t seem so fortunate, to give them one of my flowers. Not everybody loves them as much as I do, but I do it anyway. Now I am my Papa’s beautiful star, I’m bright and I can shine on my own, I hope to let others see that things get better.
Mama used to love flowers. Now I do, too.

The rising sun’s rays gently streamed through my window, gradually pulling me into consciousness. I groggily got out of bed and made my way to my kitchen where I made myself a cup of coffee, breathing in the soft smelling aroma that lifted from the liquid. I turned to my calendar to see what I was doing that day and almost dropped my cup in surprise. I had almost forgotten! I rushed to make my breakfast so that I could quickly get ready. I opened the door before locking it again and skipped along the street, my eyes scouring everyone’s expression. I stopped by the park for a moment standing in the warm glow of the sun, and that’s when I spotted her. I didn’t know many people in the town as it was so big and so she was a stranger, but I could see that she didn’t look happy. When she caught my eye she plastered a smile across her face. Good, I’d found my victim for the month.
It wasn’t all that hard to find someone to help. A couple of townsfolk knew what I loved to do every so often, and so a few were always ready to help. I was nervous to see what this stranger thought when she saw what I had done to her garden and the outside of her house, but I hoped that she’d appreciate it.
When I arrived at her house I could see many dead flowers drooping in her garden. It was very plain compared to everyone else’s houses in the street, which were bright and colourful. After we had decorated the front of the house it was now covered in fragrant roses, we had planted them in the hope that they would cling to the brickwork. We had also planted new flowers in the plain flowerbeds and fixed a canopy of flowers, which were trailing over an attractive pergola. When she saw it tears sprung from her eyes and she nearly knocked me off of my feet as she threw her arms around me. It turned out that the house actually belonged to her grandmother, she had come to take care of her and she had wanted to plant things in the garden to make her feel better but she didn’t have the time.
I turned down the offer of money that she tried to give to me for my work. My joy, and the reason that I do this each month, is to just see the smiles of delight, which is more of a payment than anyone could ever give to me.

"Free flowers!'' Lotus called, his voice unheard in the crowded mess of the farmer's market. Kalons of all shapes and sizes wandered though the dirt streets of his country town, eyes bright with curiosity and wonder. It was lotus's favorite time of year, early spring, when birds sung their first songs, the forest was lush and green, and flowers brightened the lawn of his small cottage. The air was fresh, and the farmer's market had brought more Kalons than ever before. There was only one thing ruining the day: the relentless heat. The sun beat down on the small town with impossible godly strength, the temperature rising higher every minute.

"Free flowers!" he called out again, exasperation and exhaustion clung to his words like a vine to a tree. Lotus turned around to look at his wares. To the left, dozens of mums, roses, Irises, and daises. To the right, his favorite flowers sat, with orchids, marigolds, beeblossom, and of course, a single lotus flower. Dread washed over him, and tears swelled in his already watery eyes. His flowers had begun to wilt. "Free flowers?" he whispered, leaning against his wooden booth. He sunk to the dirt floor, rubbing his eyes and nose with a single trembling paw.

"Hello?" called a voice from the other side of the booth. "Hello?" Locus quickly collected himself and forced a smile.

"Sorry Miss, All of our flowers are in rather poor shap-" His words abruptly cut off, noticing the tin watering can he held with her paws.

"I couldn't help but notice your flowers," she said, smiling. "My booth is in the shade, maybe we could move them over?" Locus nodded eagerly, reaching down and grabbing the lotus flower. "I'll lead the way," She purred, reaching down to grab a few wilting flowers. Her booth was small, but had a large umbrella providing shade. Her table was covered in jars of thick, golden honey with a small cartoon bee on the front.

The Kalon soon came back, holding as many pots of flowers that she could carry. Lotus reached down for a pot that he had brought. Thanks for saving my flowers," he said, looking around at his revived plants.

"Oh! No problem! I could tell how much you love gardening, and I'd hate to see something you worked so hard on go to waste!"

Lotus smiled, shuffling awkwardly on his feet. Here," he murmured, raising up the single pale pink Lotus flower. "Free flowers!"

Soft, pink petals fluttered around the room as Flora skipped with joy. Twirling and spinning around the room, she nearly tripped and fell into flats of daisies she had carefully stacked near the door. A gentle breeze glided into the room, bringing with it a flustered-looking kalon looking around, frantic. "H-hey...are you still open? ...Please, it's an emergency, I need to buy a bouquet from you tonight. Every other shop has turned me away..."

Flora blinked in confusion. "Um, yes, of course! What's the occasion?"

The disheveled kalon looked down at the floor, then at the wall. ""My wife...she's sick. Today's our anniversary. I didn't have time after work to buy her a gift...I'm a terrible planner." He started to sweat a little. "I-I can pay extra if you need...I just..." he trailed off.

"Don't worry! I'm in no rush." Flora dusted off her workspace and started carefully plucking flowers from her greenhouse. "Here...I've been running low on red roses, but lillies work just as well and present the same meaning. ...Just so long as your wife isn't allergic, I hope."

The kalon hastily ruffled through his wallet and pulled out a few crumpled, saggy bills. "Here...sorry...I hope this is alright!"

"Hmm..." Flora mumbled as she looked over the payment. "Something's missing...hey, I know what you can help me with!" She grinned from ear to ear. "Here, I'll follow along with you to the hospital. I have an idea..."

--------------------

The hospital was a solemn building, a major change from the cheerful warmth of the flower shop. Flora shivered a bit and clutched her bag tighter as they pushed back the heavy doors. "We're going to have to wait a bit in the lobby for a bit, before they let us see her." said the kalon, furrowing his brow a bit. "...What is it you wanted to do here, anyways?" As they took their seats, Flora opened her bag a crack and let him have a peek inside. He thought for a moment, and nodded silently. A small sob could be heard in the back of the lobby, near the exit. A very young kit huddled next to his mother, coughing and sniveling into her lap. He appeared to be sick with a cold, or something of the like, not having experienced such sickness before he must be very annoyed right now. Flora carefully padded up to him and presented him with a sunny, yellow flower. He stopped for a moment, looking at in confusion. Flora smiled at him and said, "You must be very strong, I'm proud of you for toughing it out!" she gestured at the flower. "But don't worry, you'll be able to play in the sun again soon. Just make sure you take your medicine...and listen to your mom!" The mother giggled, and her son joined in with her. Flora took her bag and started passing out the bright daffodils to everyone in the lobby, even the doctor when he came out to call in the next patient. Soon everyone in the room was talking amongst themselves and the whole lobby felt a lot warmer and joyful. Flora shook the once-flustered kalon's hand and wished him and his wife well. He seemed a lot less nervous and thanked her for her kindness. "People like you aren't common," he finally said. "But I'm glad I met you! I certainly wish I would have gone to your shop before all the others. I will definitely remember this!"

Today was going to be a flower day, she thought to herself. The sky was dark when it shouldn’t be, clouds blocking out the sun, and subsequently blocking out the smiles that normally came with it. It was always days like these that brought about a suffocatingly dreary mood, and thus it was days like these she dreaded most. Scarcely anyone smiled when the sky looked so gloomy, with fewer even daring to leave their homes for longer than a quick walk to a shop or job.

She herself lived above her flower shop, only ever a staircase away from one of her largest sources of joy. She had always known, from the very start, that this would be where she’d be the happiest, and she was right. Everything about flowers brought a smile to her face. Their colors, shapes, sizes, names... Though perhaps one of her favorite things about flowers were the hidden meanings behind them. Some meant love, others friendship, joy, admiration, luck, well-wishes... They could tell such an incredible story if only people were to listen.

With a brief shake of her head she readied herself for the day, eventually making her way down the stairs to her own slice of paradise. Normally she was open every day, but on days like these she had other plans. She grabbed a basket from the back and traveled around the shop, picking up various flowers along the way; daisies for get wells, heather for luck, lilacs for calm, and a few others she thought she might need.

Then with a smile rivaling the sun on the best of days, she strode out her shop, passion and purpose fueling her steps. Behind her were locked doors and an ‘out for the day’ sign left tilted against the glass door, while ahead were happy memories waiting to be made.

It was always on days like today that she headed out on the town, watching others struggle through their days, and making the decision to ease their load just a little in the way only she could. A white carnation for the innocent child with a scrape on their leg, a daffodil for the new life awaiting the couple who just moved in, a bundle of heather wishing luck to those leaving job interviews, and chrysanthemums for joy to all those stuck in a rut...

She finds it so amazing how easily frowns turn to smiles at such a small act of kindness; all it took was a smile On her part and a flower for their days to go from bad to better. And as she traveled around the town, she felt the mood lift into something far lighter than it had been.

As it was, by the end of the day she was out of flowers, but she had all that she needed: happy memories and a smile on her face that wouldn’t go away. She knew she could ask for nothing more than this; and as she entered her shop once more, she paused for a moment before putting out the open sign. Perhaps there was still time for a few more smiles before the day was done.
