*Prologue*
"No, no, please!" The storm streaked viscet screamed, "Not my Tatania!" The pirate held up the squirming visceting, her fur blue and white, her eyes a clouded grey.
The scruffy white 'cet snarled.
"I don care if she's your daughter, viscetlings have no use to us!" The mother screamed, the pirate let go, and Tatania plummeted. Most viscets can't survive underwater, for hours on end, and very few seek revenge on a group of pirates after essentially drowning. Tatania was the one who broke the mold. The sea water filled her eyes, throat, nose, the salt stinging, her air lingering. The sea was grey. The sky was grey. If only Tatania could get to that sky, to that air. She tried, but the water weighted down every limb, making swimming impossible for such a young 'cet as herself. Tatania drew in a last breath, but only taking in water and bubbles, choking her. The viscetling fell limp, the water rocking it back and forth. As she fell to the sea floor, something inside her awoke, unlocked. Her eyes opened, glowing green, then closed again, her body continuing to sink.
"Such pretty music," Tatania's air starved brain thought, "The sirens must be singing." Then all was black.
*Chapter 1*
Tatania awoke. At first she'd thought she'd passed onto the cloud realm, then the belowlight, based on the cave she has mysteriously appeared in. Tatania rubbed her head where it was sore, probably from banging it on a rock, or piece of coral. She sat up, her fur feeling stiff with salt, but her lungs grateful for the large quantity of air in the cave. The cave was small and dark, perhaps five foot by five foot, Tatania's estimating skills were never the greatest, definatly not with the splitting headache she had.
