Reason for feather and beads?: One day whilst walking along a beach I came across an herring gull feather and two large pieces of sea glass. I picked them up, took them home and used my love for crafts to fashion them into a mane decoration, neatening up the feather and carving a single bead from each piece of sea glass. Once it was completed I needed to decide which horse would wear this hand-crafted decoration. Due to her being born at a coastal racehorse stud and her name being linked to the sea, it seemed only right to gift them to Tasi. Now her handler ties them to her mane every day and she seems to really enjoy the attention they give her!

Reason for feather and beads?: The gentleman who bred Paloma has an interesting way of marking the parentage of his horses. Since he keeps them mostly in herds, it can be hard to tell them apart, so he uses a system of colored beads. The light blue bead on top represents her dam’s side, the green bead below represents her sire’s. The feather is all her own. When Paloma arrived at my farm, she had a hard time making friends with her fellow equines, but she had no such qualms about the chickens. She’s quite amused by their antics, and even has a particular flock that follows her around and sleeps in the stall beside her at night. I added the feather when I found it laying in her stall one morning. Although she later adjusted to my other horses, and became good friends with some of them, the barn flock were her first friends, so I thought it was fitting to add the feather to her beads.
