Soft grass rocked back and forth, blades bending in the soft wind. Their blades were luminous, a
vibrant green which directly contradicted the season of cold and death they were emerging from.
As they rocked back and forth rhythmically, they seemed almost fake, too lustrous and healthy to
be true. However, they were not fake, but alive and well - living on without death for several
years - all thanks to the swirling vortex of dark magic which surrounded the building that they
were planted around.

The noise was like the soft humming of an electric fence within the vortex, almost easily unnoticed
but ever present. It bounced off of the walls of the building and passed through the vortex itself
into the outer world. The sound passed in waves like the tides of the ocean, flowing in and out
fluidly and hypnotically.

Within the area between the grand building and the vortex, no animal life stirred, for it was all
snuffed out and drained away by the vortex's dark grasp. It was eerily quiet, filled only with that
persistent hum, the hum that could never go away.

A new sound was introduced, one of a slamming door, and the hum of the vortex seemed to grow
louder as if to compete against it. From the open door, three viscets rushed out - two adults,
one male and one female, and one viscling which was carried by the male.

They ran forward, their eyes locked onto the vortex ahead. The female moved her forepaws and
luminous magic rushed forward, temporarily splitting the barrier. She dashed through and looked
back at the male. He stumbled as a light burst forth on his side and regained his footing as it faded
before slipping out with the viscling. As his tail passed through, the female's magic faded and the
vortex engulfed the hole, returning as normal.

Within the vortex, soft grass rocked back and forth, bending in the soft wind.
