Prompt:
"Don't go far!" Sundrop yelled out from behind her apprentice, her body stretched out on a long sliver of stone at the edge of Silentclan's camp. Daypaw huffed out a long sigh, nodded his head obediently to his mentor, then darted out of the camp, running down the dirt path in the center of the forest. He ran quickly, his head locked on the terrain before him. His eyes darted curiously in each direction, wide in excitement. This was his first time out of camp since he was born, and the outside world was just as pretty as he had pictured it in his dreams, which he often rambled about with his mentor.
Once he got so far from the camp, he slowed to a walk, and slowed to a stop. He peered over his shoulder, making sure his mentor wasn't hovering around nearby before he sighed happily, taking a grateful seat on his haunches. He peered around once more, blinked once, then looked at bush, which swayed gracefully to the left and right. There was no breeze, yet the bush was moving. Daypaw's ears perked up, a curious scenario coming into mind; what if he caught prey on the first day of his apprenticeship, without a lesson from his mentor? Silentclan would praise him!
He leaped to his paws and made his way towards the bush cautiously, his eyes locked on the center. He saw the small bushy tail of a rabbit, and grinned confidently. He leaped forward, his sturdy frame bushing aside the leaves with ease. The rabbit, however, ran before he could grasp it, darting into the center of the forest. Daypaw decided to pursue the fleeing prey, angry it had gotten away. They ran for a while through the forest, Daypaw gasping for breath. It wasn't until the rabbit ran directly towards the bark of a tree, covered by a thick layer of moss. Daypaw thought the rabbit was going to be stupid and crash into the tree; he laughed at the thought.
What happened next amazed him.
The moss parted for the rabbit, closing once the rabbit was inside. Daypaw slid to a stop before the tree, tilting his head to the side. He then cautiously walked forward, pawing at the moss. It moved aside with ease, and Daypaw walked in. There was a circular hole, big enough for him to crawl through, so he crawled through. He crawled until he reached the bottom, his fur matted with mud. He looked up, and saw a large lake of water before him, surrounded by willow trees. He froze in amazement, and squealed after he snapped out of it. "Look at this!" He bounded forward, peering around the area. He jumped in place happily, another squeal escaping him before he whispered to himself.
"I'm definitely gonna be coming back."
