✦ what do they do for a living and how does it affect their relationships with others?:
I packed up all my things, made sure they were all wrapped up tightly, and made my way toward the market.
It was a nice, calm morning. The air was clear and the birds were chirping quite brightly. I had high hopes today
that I would finally, finally be able to sell something.
The way to the market was twisty and full of drowsy townspeople, but I didn't mind them much. I slipped past them
easily and kept on walking, careful not to step on any cracks on the path. At long last, I reached an open town square
full of stalls and the familiar chatter of merchants, traders, and the curious passers-by. It was nice to admire the things
other people had on display. Many of them were traders, their items spread out so others could see them very clearly. Others were merchants, offering their wares or services for a price.
It wasn't often that I set up shop. Usually I was traveling, scavenging and trading for items that I thought might catch someone's
interest. Sometimes, although very reluctantly and when money was tight, I would sell and trade some of my things as well.
I wouldn't really get many people's interest, sadly. All I can do is wait patiently, hoping that at least someone would come and
offer to buy something of mine.
I looked at each of my items in turn yet again: the golden pocket watch, the delicate, ceramic dolls, the notebook with a flowery cover, and the small bear with dozens of stitches and colorful ribbons. They were not much, but each one had a story, one which I would gladly tell anyone who asked.
I watched the people walk by slowly, ogling at the shiny, valuable things the other merchants had to offer. Nobody batted an eye at me. The chattering of people and their soft footsteps on the cobblestone path were almost a song, but not quite.
Suddenly I heard footsteps pass by yet again. The footsteps slowed to a stop, and I heard a little gasp, then the sound of someone clearing their throat.
I turned to face whoever had stopped so abruptly. "Oh, hello!" I said with a grin.
This was unusual, it wasn't often that I encountered someone stopping to look at the items I had. Whenever they did, they'd linger for just the tiniest while, their gaze drifting upon each item, until leaving just as quickly as they came.
But she didn't leave, she just stood staring at the small ceramic dolls on display.
I leaned in and told her the story of the little dolls, and she stood there taking in the words, holding on to each of them, taking in every detail before letting go. She looked up at me with round, moon-like eyes, and said in the lightest whisper, "A-are they for sale?"
I smiled. "Of course."

Lucinda is a dentist. She is always looking in her family member's mouths, sometimes just randomly when she's just near them. Her family have gotten used to it, but are worried that she might do it to other people, like strangers. Lucinda also tends to smell her family members' breath, and if it smells bad she will make it a big deal. Luckily, none of this she does in public.

Δɢɛи∂ɛя ✦ Ɖαяκ Ħιƨтσяιαи ✦ Δитι-ƧσcιαℓAisling was never a normal kalon, to say the least. When they were young, they spent most of their time reading stories of dark legends and ancient curses. Now that they’ve grown, they travel the world seeking out artifacts with ties to such dark lore. They’ve collected a tablet from a possessed merchant, a hoof from a great and ferocious beast that ravaged an old village, and the bones of an evil shaman just to list a few. Aisling doesn’t just search for relics; they often seek out places that are rich with dark history. In these places, they like to sit and simply “feel the spirits” they say live on in the area. They sometimes spend hours contemplating lore and reading the aura of the place. While they wander, they sketch and record field notes of their findings. They have an astounding attention to detail, and while they have no professional schooling, they like to call themself a “dark historian.” They have a strange fascination with witch trials, sacrificial rituals, and the old study of alchemy. To say they are obsessed would be an understatement. No expense, distance, or danger keeps Aisling from hunting down whatever it is they wish to find next. They sometimes even go so far as to break the law in their search for artifacts. So far they’ve avoided jail time, but with each more reckless heist, the risks only become greater.
Such an eerie set of interests don’t sit well with most kalons. Aisling isn’t exactly an extrovert by any means, but others seem to pick up on the strange air surrounding them and keep well out of their way. Aisling’s interaction with the general public consists of apprehensive looks, glares, and sharp words whispered behind their back. This doesn’t affect them much, though. As far as Aisling is concerned, most people are generally terrible anyways. They are very reluctant to talk to other kalons unless they absolutely have to. Most conversations are cold and abrupt. Aisling resents that other people wouldn’t understand their research, muttering curses and giving any other historians a sharp glare whenever they meet eyes in the library. They don’t have evil intentions, of course, they just want others to “see the truth of the world.” What few acquaintances Aisling has is through a secret network of similarly-minded explorers. This network provides information and tips, from conspiracy theories to first-hand accounts of dark rituals.
Aisling doesn’t just collect artifacts for their own personal gain. Someday in the future, they plan to open their own small museum with these items, sharing their research with others who might also think the same way. They figure that more people might come to “see the light” if enough evidence is gathered and put in the same place. All the time spent reading, sketching, and exploring they say is just the work needed for the ultimate goal: sharing the true history of the world, uncensored, revealing the true nature of people for better or worse.

kalon name: Miranda
kalon gender: Female
what do they do for a living and how does it affect their relationships with others?:
Miranda is very impulsive, so she bounced around jobs before settling on becoming a tattoo artist. Once she worked as a librarian and she loved the smell of books, but it was too tame. Another time she worked for the circus painting faces, reading tarot cards, and telling fortunes. After that she tried cosmetology, which was fun for a little while. Her parents were very relieved when she finally quit jumping around. They were totally fine with the idea of tattoos, but her grandparents had trouble coming to terms with it. They couldn't understand the appeal of having something so permanent on your body forever. When she's not at the tattoo shop, she makes and sells tie dyed quilts and dream catchers for an antique/odds and ends shop.

❝ username; f1owercrown / name; Kailah / gender; female / job; archaeologist and professor ❞
It was an eventful morning when she was twelve, sitting by the dining table and munching on cereal. National Geographic was on television, showing a documentation on possible Kalon life form on a deserted island. Ancient artifacts and hieroglyphics scattered around the cave, and bones of different sizes were unearthed from the deepest parts. A child watching television isn't eventful, one would say, but it was an eye-opener for the little Kalon. Hitting the table with the butt of her spoon, she suddenly screamed to her father by the garden: I want to become an archaeologist!
Indeed, Kailah did become one. Part-time professor, full-time archaeologist.
It was unbelievable, some of her friends thought, that someone would love their job to that extent, or at least be motivated to work on a daily basis until the night shift. Kailah never experienced the dread of having to work for something she wasn't passionate about; since that day her mind was fixated on the thought of excavating, formulating theories, and reading dusty history books no one but her seemed to enjoy. On her friends' accounts, Kailah loved blabbering about history, her findings, or her exploration through sites unheard of. Over a reunion dinner with college friends, one of them suggested, "If you love your job as an archaeologist, why not inspire others to love archaeology as well?"
Inspiration and appreciation had always been Kailah's main goals in the course once she became a professor. It was a small archaeology class in the university, an elective as one might say, but nevertheless she found ways to make it remarkable. Her ratings given by students were exceptional: comments portrayed how she was laid-back and passionate in what she did, and she taught very well that even the ones who used to hate archaeology surprisingly had an untapped love for it. It was just noteworthy, the students thought, how disorganized Kailah appeared to be.
Kailah was always seen as a messy person in and out class hours, primarily attributed by a hair that looked like it hadn't seen a brush for days. Her items were strewn everywhere as if her desk were a site in itself waiting to be excavated, and this merited negative stares from her co-workers. Although Kailah steered her clear of extreme criticism with her bubbly personality, there was no doubt it was such a stress-inducer to see untidiness at work. She had always been told to clean up, but Kailah never allotted time to do so because she was always so eager in starting work, and rather that she move aside each batch of litter to the side to place new litter. It's a wonder, some of her archaeology colleagues thought, how Kailah manages to work, but no one could complain with the amount of effort she was putting into her research.
Dead men tell no tales, as the saying went, but Kailah begged to differ: these bones and artifacts told more tales than bedtime stories ever imparted on a dreaming Kalon.
(this is inspired by my archaeology teacher, whose hair is similar to the Kal and who teaches so well I have a new found love for archaeology :') )

kalon name:: malaria grace
kalon gender:: female
what do they do for a living, and how does their work affect their relationships with others??::
malaria is a palentologist.
malaria had moved from her hometown she had found shelter in a small, homely town far from the busy cities that had neighbored her previous village. her home smelled of dust and fire, old books scattering her floors and shelves, some new and with her own writing running across the yellowed pages. her interest in fossils and artifacts had always lingered, growing as the sight of bones was found in the local mine far off by the town's city lines.
malaria had wriggled her way into a job as a miner, draping the old apron over her head as it lay neatly over her chest. she would follow the local miners as she knew no way around the tunnels, fust scattering hert usual vibrant coat of fur. for months malaria had digged in the mines, her time for friends had grown little over time, until the point she no longer spoke to another living creature. as the miner chattered beside her, she'd stay silent. landing her pick in the creases of the rocks as they rubbled to the ground.
over the years, malaria has found her way in many news articles for her work, bits and pieces of a newfound fossil beginning to fill her home as she still worked for the final product. she had no friends to celebrate with, as she had herself.
The quote of the Emoji Movie rang in her head, what's the point of being number one if there aren't any other numbers? She didn't want to be a number. she wanted to be alone with her work. and for years to come, she was.

gov name: easton forbes
current name: jago (yay-go) hart
kalon gender: male, he/him pronouns., though he isn't afraid to cross dress on occasion.
what do they do for a living and how does it affect their relationships with others?: (500 words or less)
prompt wrote:Jago Hart is a man that you probably wouldn't want to cross. He is a paranoid conspiracy theorist with a passion for trying to figure out the unknown. He tends to think that everyone is out to get him, which is why he's usually pretty lonely. Before Jago went off of the deep end, he was fairly close to his father, who was also a conspiracy theorist. As a kid, Jago really adored his father and loved the stories that he would tell; mostly the ones about how the government is hiding aliens. Four days after Jago's tenth birthday, his father disappeared. He watched his father get taken into a large white van with government tags. He always thought that his father would exaggerate the truth a little when telling his stories, but now? He believed them wholeheartedly. At the age of ten, Jago lost the man that meant everything to him. This is when Jago first started delving into the world of conspiracy theories.
By the time Jago had turned eighteen, he had completely left behind everyone and everything he knew. He couldn't trust them. After his father was taken, he never trusted his mother again, which is inevitably where the trust issues started. In the back of his mind, he always believed that she was the one who turned him into the authorities. As he delved farther and farther into the darkness, he lost more friends. He was scared to go out, especially at night. He strongly believed that the government released beasts in the night to hunt down and track people like Jago.
After living on his own for a while, Jago decided that he needed to stay on the move. He also figured that it would be safe to change his name once a year. This, of course, prevents him from meeting people- not that he would want to anyways. Jago was also convinced that the government had made robots to look and talk like normal people. His trust was extremely hard to gain. However lonely Jago was, he was actually extremely content with being alone and living his life as a nomad. The only person he truly trusted was gone, and Jago had no more intentions of getting others taken from him.
The only people that Jago talked to were other conspiracy theorists online. He quite enjoyed their own personal theories and he'd enjoy sharing his own. That would be the only form of connection, trust, and influence that he would have with other people, and he was completely content with that. Nothing made him happier than finding something out and sharing it with his so-called, 'friends.'
Jago is now twenty-two and has completely isolated himself from the outside world. His mother has tried to make contact but has been unsuccessful in her attempts. He has personally driven everyone away from him, only to try and find the real truth. The truth is out there and Jugo is coming for it.
