Cat's Name: Emberflower
Cat's Gender: She-Cat Clan Thread: X Answer: When she was younger, her name was Ember. It was bestowed upon her for her fierce and passionate attitude as a kitten just as much as it was for the contrast between the ginger against black on her fur. Ember was a bundle of energy and a constant spitfire, but 'Ember' wasn't her only name! As she was growing up, some toms had selected a pet name for her; Freckles, regarding the ginger spots along her face and tail. Although her stern mother disapproved, Ember lapped up the attention like a thirsty dog laps up water. Ember one day disappeared from her family, with a tom named Brindle and a name of Freckle to go by.
Brindle and Freckle lived a feckless and reckless life, exploring the vast wilderness and eventually meeting up with some very peculiar characters. These characters were tribe cats, adorned by mud and cleverly smudged berries. A molly called 'Pine that stands alone' offered them a place in the tribe, admiring their courage to have clambered up the snow-capped mountain. Naturally, the two young cats agreed to this!
Freckles was given the name 'Embers that shine brightly' due to her positive and cheery nature as well as her stubborn tenacity to never give in. Her friend Brindle was given the name 'Hawk that swoops from smoke' due to his risk-taking nature and extremely courageous attitude. The pair were happy for quite some time, living as Ember and Hawk when suddenly a dog threatened their best friend, Pine.
Instinctively, Hawk and Ember went for the dog and with the help of many courageous tribe-cats, the dog was sent packing with several wounds etched into it's rear end. Sadly, the dog wasn't the only loser during the battle; Hawk had lost his life when he over-confidently got in contact with the brute's snapping fangs. The tribe's healer, Splash of leaping frog, couldn't patch up his severe wounds and couldn't patch up Ember's broken heart after the incident.
The mountains seemed to darken after that and with a heavy heart, Ember left with a new name 'Glow of dying embers'. This name was given to represent her more sober, shy and solemn nature; no longer was Ember cheerful and bright, she was dull and somber after Hawk's death.
The molly wandered far, her quest aimless and her journey monotonous. It'd been a terribly long time since that brave young molly had eloped with Brindle so long ago and it was fair to say that Ember was a great deal meeker and milder, asking questions more often than jumping headfirst into things that she did not understand. Eventually, Ember came across a vast valley and a molly who was sitting quietly by the river.
That molly introduced herself as Daisystar and offered her a piece of trout to eat and share her woes over. Although this golden-faced molly was a stranger, her strangely kind nature allowed Ember to open up and at the end of it all, Daisystar smiled and replied she knew what grief felt like.
It was an astonishing thing to Ember, who smiled back and thanked her profusely back. That was when she was called Emberflower, for her gentle and sweet nature as well as the ginger flecks against her dark fur. She wears that name with pride, but does not forgot all the those old names that she went by; Ember, Fleck, Embers that shine brightly, Glow of dying embers and finally Emberflower.
