    Blanket Writing

Evren was lost as an egg. The bright white of the shell caught Azar's eye. He was a large western dragon who lived in a cavern he had hollowed out himself on the side of the volcano. On the return of his hunting trip, he took the egg with him as just another treasure to add to his hoard, assuming the cold egg was long past the point of being able to hatch. Repeatedly Azar tried to place the egg into his hoard, but the metals and crystals he had discovered were all too smooth for the egg to remain still. The tired dragon eventually discovered a piece of cloth sticking out of a pile of old armor, which he tugged just hard enough to pull it free without damaging it. The cloth was a small blanket, just large enough to cover the egg which gave it enough grip to be placed among the stacks of treasure. The warmth of the fire dragon filled the cave as he slept, and with the help of the blanket, he kept the viscling within the egg alive.

The next night Azar left once again to hunt, but while he was gone Evren finally broke free of their egg. The small viscling's struggle sent the bundle of egg and blanket down the treasure pile which was just enough to release them from their shell onto the cold cave floor. They could smell nothing but the strong scent of metal which filled the cave, but rather than fearing their surroundings they were curious. They began to climb among the shiny objects lit up by the moonlight that filtered through the entrance of the cave, but it wasn't long until they had to retreat back to the warm blanket. They learned fast and began to explore the treasures once again, but this time with their blanket draped over their back.

It wasn't long before the newly hatched viscling was worn out. They curled up in their blanket among the treasure within the imprint their egg had left.

A large gust of hot air startled them awake, causing them to tumble from their place in the dragon's hoard bringing many assorted metals to the ground with a clatter. Azar's arrival brought warmth back to the cave, along with a new scent, food. They shoved through the clutter, blanket held tightly in their jaws, toward the warmth and food. Azar was alarmed by the ruckus, but even more, surprised when a viscling emerged from among the piles of treasure. He had expected to see an adult Viscet, or another creature altogether. His anger subsided as they approached unafraid. He lived every day paranoid of attacks from the village of hunters who lived nearby, so it was odd to see a child of their kind within his cave showing no fear and having no bad intentions. Azar allowed them to eat while he watched the entry of his cave, expecting an ambush any moment but it never came. He was broken from this trance when the viscling approached him after their meal, curling up against his foot on the blanket the egg had been wrapped in. It wasn't until then he made the connection between the viscling and egg. It was a miracle the egg hatched in the first place, and that it was a Viscet of all creatures, so he decided to keep them, naming them Evren.

Every night Azar left Evren to hunt, so during that time, Evren would remain hidden among the treasure stacks in their special blanket to keep warm. They never understood why Azar was always so cautious and paranoid until one night he didn't return.

That morning Evren was awoken by the shuffling of metal. Viscets in charred armor were all around them going through Azar's belongings and stealing them. One noticed them but spoke words they couldn't understand. The frightened viscling ran, able to take nothing but their blanket.

Now Azar protects Evren as a spirit. Whenever they are afraid they take shelter under their blanket and their problems "disappear" while they are hidden, but in reality, it is Azar defending them.

Ideas
(not part of the form I just dont want to lose them)
Code: Select all
-Found by a kind dragon as an egg and kept in their treasure hoard
-When they were hatched their egg was fractured when rolling through the treasure so no assistance in hatching was needed
-They wandered around the treasure until the dragon arrived
-The dragon felt pity for the little bab and adopted them
-He gave her a blanket from his hoard to stay in whenever he went hunting because the cave was cold.
-the dragon is warm so whenever he is in the cave the entire place is warm
-the bab was happily raised by the dragon
-they learn the language of the dragon and cannot speak to viscets, but is silent most of the time anyways becuase Azar is
-a Messenger worried for the bab who was living with a dragon, not because of the dragon but because dragons are hunted by a nearby village so they gave her the power to breathe smoke to hide
-the dragon doesnt return one day and the bab hides in the back of the cave until one day they are woken up by the sound of gold and metals being shuffled as the cave was looted
-the bab sneaks out to see whats going on and the viscets spot her and try to approach her.  they cant understand them well and is scared because they smell of fire and ash like that her father would only use on enemies
-before then they had only had a few encounters with other trying to get in the cave.  They had the same mentality as some children when it came to that and being scared of the dark.  They hide under the blanket where "nothing can hurt her" and everything bad would "disappear" but really it was the dragon
-they runs away from them only taking the blanket
-they wanders looking for her dragon father
-While they travels they uses the blanket for different things.  Either warmth, a bag to carry things, ect
-"unnatural events" happen around her when they are in trouble, but really it is the spirit of her father protecting her.  He is invisible unless they breathe smoke and it will wrap around his form so he can be seen
-whenever they hide that is when the dragon will come out to protect her

Name- Fallen Star
Gender- Male
Blanket Writing- Fallen Star got separated from his parents. Alone and cold, he searched for shelter. While he was trying to find a shelter he found an old blanket. The blanket was a calming blue and had little specs of beautiful stars. He had always wondered about stars and space in general because of how beautiful and mysterious it is. Now that he found this blanket he thought it was a gift from space. He found a little shelter under a small oak tree, curled up in a ball, and placed the “gift” from space on him. Now he still searches for his lost parents, but not alone, because his little “gift” from space is with him to comfort him. To him this blanket is his universe.

sorry if this sounds really cheesy! This babe is so precious and would go well with some of my ocs I already have. (My ocs all have a little object that comforts them on their journeys) 😅

Name- Revera

Gender- Female

Blanket Writing-
The blanket that she carries with her is the only thing separating her from the cold wind, and at this time of year it was awfully cold out. At that point it couldn't even have been called a blanket but rather just a ragged piece of blue cloth that had once belonged to a much larger and more substantial piece of bedding. Now it was just a forgotten scrap, like how Revera felt out here in the woods. She had been left by her family, all alone with only this scrap of cloth to keep warm. As she moved through the woods, branches and thorns caught on the blanket making it even more ragged until all the edges were frayed and she feared it may come apart within her jaws. Revera settled down and wrapped herself in the cloth with a shudder from the cold as it burrowed through her fur.

"Hey there! Whatcha doing out here in the cold?" A voice called and a viscet walked out of the woods. He looked down at the smaller viscet and then sat nearby.

"I got lost. I guess," Revera lied, not looking at the viscet who sat nearby. She caught a glimpse of his tail and saw the yellow and pinkish fur swirling through the dirt as if drawing in it.

"Oh? Would you like some help? I could show you the way back to the trail," He tilted his head and Revera shook her own head.

"No. I am fine," She continued, not wanting to tell this viscet that she had actually been abandoned. She could barely comprehend it herself and knew if she spoke the words, she may begin to cry.

"Ok, well may I sit here with you for a bit?" He asked and she nodded figuring the company wouldn't hurt, at least she wouldn't be alone out here.

He stayed for a long time, much longer than Revera would have thought. It was getting dark by the time he stood to leave.

"Thank you for the company little one. Now are you going to stay out here for the night?" He asked and Revera could hear the worry in his voice.

"Yes. I suppose I will have to," She said, her voice breaking as she was suddenly very afraid of being out here all night alone.

"Why don't you join me? I don't have much but perhaps we can figure out something," He offered a paw to help her get up.

His kindness shown in his eyes as she looked up into them and she agreed to walk back with him. Once back to the cave, he glanced at the rag that hung from her mouth. It was barely holding together but Revera clung to it still.

"That blanket is in pretty rough shape. Would you like me to patch it for you while you get something to eat?" He asked and she nodded, slowly handing over her blanket to the kind viscet.

He sat her down near a fire with a bowl of stew before moving further into the cave. He returned with sewing supplies and some scrap cloth. While they sat there, she ate the stew enjoying the warmth it filled her with and he worked on her blanket. They didn't talk much but that didn't worry Revera. Once he was finished, he held it up for her to see, "do you like it?"

He had transformed what had originally been just a scrap of blue cloth into a pretty little blanket. He had stopped the edges from fraying by sewing a border of lighter blue cloth onto them and had sewn little stars into the blanket with some thread. She could feel tears forming in her eyes as she hugged this Viscet who had been so kind. She took her new blanket and snuggled it close to her, admiring the care that each little piece of thread was put into the cloth for. This was no longer a scrap to be tossed away but rather something to enjoy and be proud of.

She curled up with her new blanket next to this viscet and started falling asleep, but not until whispering softly, "Thank you"

Blanket Writing- (700 words max) Icefall was a lonely child, always left out on the game's of other hatchings. The only thing he felt safe with was his blanket, somethimg his parents gave him. They had since died, as he now lived with his grandparents. They loved him and all, but he truly felt at home under his little blanket. Where nobody could hurt him and he could imagine a world where he had freinds.
