Blanket Writing-
The blanket that she carries with her is the only thing separating her from the cold wind, and at this time of year it was awfully cold out. At that point it couldn't even have been called a blanket but rather just a ragged piece of blue cloth that had once belonged to a much larger and more substantial piece of bedding. Now it was just a forgotten scrap, like how Revera felt out here in the woods. She had been left by her family, all alone with only this scrap of cloth to keep warm. As she moved through the woods, branches and thorns caught on the blanket making it even more ragged until all the edges were frayed and she feared it may come apart within her jaws. Revera settled down and wrapped herself in the cloth with a shudder from the cold as it burrowed through her fur.
"Hey there! Whatcha doing out here in the cold?" A voice called and a viscet walked out of the woods. He looked down at the smaller viscet and then sat nearby.
"I got lost. I guess," Revera lied, not looking at the viscet who sat nearby. She caught a glimpse of his tail and saw the yellow and pinkish fur swirling through the dirt as if drawing in it.
"Oh? Would you like some help? I could show you the way back to the trail," He tilted his head and Revera shook her own head.
"No. I am fine," She continued, not wanting to tell this viscet that she had actually been abandoned. She could barely comprehend it herself and knew if she spoke the words, she may begin to cry.
"Ok, well may I sit here with you for a bit?" He asked and she nodded figuring the company wouldn't hurt, at least she wouldn't be alone out here.
He stayed for a long time, much longer than Revera would have thought. It was getting dark by the time he stood to leave.
"Thank you for the company little one. Now are you going to stay out here for the night?" He asked and Revera could hear the worry in his voice.
"Yes. I suppose I will have to," She said, her voice breaking as she was suddenly very afraid of being out here all night alone.
"Why don't you join me? I don't have much but perhaps we can figure out something," He offered a paw to help her get up.
His kindness shown in his eyes as she looked up into them and she agreed to walk back with him. Once back to the cave, he glanced at the rag that hung from her mouth. It was barely holding together but Revera clung to it still.
"That blanket is in pretty rough shape. Would you like me to patch it for you while you get something to eat?" He asked and she nodded, slowly handing over her blanket to the kind viscet.
He sat her down near a fire with a bowl of stew before moving further into the cave. He returned with sewing supplies and some scrap cloth. While they sat there, she ate the stew enjoying the warmth it filled her with and he worked on her blanket. They didn't talk much but that didn't worry Revera. Once he was finished, he held it up for her to see, "do you like it?"
He had transformed what had originally been just a scrap of blue cloth into a pretty little blanket. He had stopped the edges from fraying by sewing a border of lighter blue cloth onto them and had sewn little stars into the blanket with some thread. She could feel tears forming in her eyes as she hugged this Viscet who had been so kind. She took her new blanket and snuggled it close to her, admiring the care that each little piece of thread was put into the cloth for. This was no longer a scrap to be tossed away but rather something to enjoy and be proud of.
She curled up with her new blanket next to this viscet and started falling asleep, but not until whispering softly, "Thank you"
