Magic runs through my veins
xxxxxxxxxxxTaika was always the skeptical one amongst her family and friends. She doubted everything there was, even logic itself, never satisfied with the answers she'd found. But something has been startling her lately. She lived in the massive ancient house on her own since her father left, making it impossible to ever find her mother. It was a certain distance from nearest town, but she got used to it as she didn't lack loneliness every now and then.
xxxxxxxxxxxShe settled to tidy up the attic this week, procrastinating it till the last moment. She couldn't peace herself anymore, not knowing her only preferably-still-alive relative. The curiosity behind dustyful doors finally overthrew her laziness. Good thing she didn't have allergies; The room was a real landfill of dust. She was planning on throwing most of the heirloom away as it didn't serve a purpose. But she stumbled upon a great discovery, what seemed to be a tiny music box. She blew the dirt off it, her heart pounding believing she, at last, came across an object that will help in her search. It was an old wooden crate with gilded peaks. Inside she found a golden necklace with a dark blue gem in the middle, alongside with what seemed to be a map. She took a couple of minutes to stare at it in awe before carefully picking the old piece of paper up. It had a message in the upper corner;
"If you seek to find the truth,
Follow the path I took.
To find the required clue,
Search for magic within you.
xxxxxxxxxxx -To my special heiress, with love."
xxxxxxxxxxxIt took that much to turn her world upside-down. She couldn't wait a day more causing her to start packing right away. She didn't care for her past denials. She started believing this necklace will grant her luck and provide guidance for something she's been hoping to discover whole of her life. A clue that her motherly figure isn't a myth made up by her father to make her feel better. She existed. And she loved her daughter. That was all Taika need to set a foot on a trail of revealing her ancestry.
xxxxxxxxxxxThe first part of the trip wasn't disappointing at all. She just followed a red line on the map, occasionally stopping in the nearby villages. But since she reached the second half it just started getting uglier. Bushes, thorns, sharp grass grew in the dense forests as she moved. Friendly signs became warnings and Taika was starting to doubt her decision. She tried to believe with all of her heart the amulet holds the power to help her no matter how tough things get. She could have felt its magic, spreading through her veins. She knew it belonged to her mother. It just had to, else she came this entire way for nothing.
xxxxxxxxxxxAnd as she was getting in the range of the biggish red 'X' she didn't notice a pale line, swiftly painted even before she was born. She continued to push through the plant life, not watching her step as she daydreamed what her destination looked like, and what the viscets inhabiting it were like. She felt the necklace burning and reached for the locket with her paws. But it was too late to wonder reasons as before her was no ground. She stepped over a cliff, unaware until the last moment. But she couldn't stop gravity. As she fell into the river below her, it was clear she won't make it. The fall was too long, but even if she survived it the river would just play with her pulling her with its flow. The overwhelming thoughts of everything that she'll lose led to unconsciousness.
xxxxxxxxxxxShe woke up stranded next to the water's determined flow. What happened? How is she still alive? The only thing on her mind was cherishing this somehow extraordinary lucky moment, proving herself that the amulet was indeed magical in some way unknown to her. She lost her map and other supplies, but that was a cheap price for a life. She stood on her feet and continued her journey up the river. Her goal was close, and so was her mother.
xxxxxxxxxxxHer face brightened. She was walking carefully, making sure to check the existence of the path before taking a step. She still managed to trip, but raiding her head from the jungle mud made her the happiest 'cetling alive. She had quite a view to consider- A friendly looking shack with a nice little garden in front of it, smoke rising from the chimney. Someone was definitely in there! She rushed to the wooden doors, knocking fast. She caught the lost hairs back on their place and dust the mud of her fur.
"Coming!"
The female voice was heard from the inside, and Taika's stomach filled with butterflies. She was so nervous meeting someone of this much importance. The doorknob was shaken and the doors slowly opened, revealing an adult viscet, smiling back to our traveler.
"How can I help you? You've must have gone a long way, so it better be special!"
The viscet invited her in. Taika lost her voice for a moment, frozen in space.
"Y-yes, I w-was actually intending t-to ask if y-you maybe k-know a cet around here who was w-waiting for her d-d-dough..."
The viscet's eyes widen as she recognized the young creature in front of her doors.
"Taika? Is that really you?"
Both viscet's eyes filled with tears as an unavoidable hug took place.
"I can't believe I finally find you! I'm so sorry for leaving you all alone..."
Taika just sobbed, feeling the warmth of another being after such a long separation.
"Don't worry. I had dad to keep me company, but he's no longer with us."
The teardrops didn't seem to stop.
"I found your message and came as fast as I could!"
She closed her eyes, squeezing her amulet, thanking it for bringing her to this wonderful reunion.
