The Abaia is a huge, magical, eel-like creature in Melanesian mythology.
This'll take a while, so I thought I'd put up the sketch so I'll be certain to finish it. Hopefully I'll do it tomorrow; maybe tonight when I'm not sleeping though Finished! c:

Timer definitely lies
- goddess of water
- so basically oceans, rivers, lakes, etc are her domain
- super protective of the oceans in particular though
- will defeat you
as in definitely eat you
- Tbh she just acts like a moody teenager most of the time
- secretly super insecure and lonely
- Protective, fierce, unforgiving, unpredictable, moody, has a short temper, often misunderstood, sassy, vain
Rules through fear rather than love

X Pollution, disrespect, being told what to do, cold weather
Anatomy
Fins are moveable; can be raised/flattened depending on emotional state
Eyes dilate like those of cats
Teeth are always on outside of mouth; too large to fit inside
Forked tongue
When swimming, doesn't use arms and legs - relies on powerful tail + neck muscles
Can unhinge jaw like a snake
Markings are bioluminescent
Relationships
Cerridwen
Abaia doesn't have a particularly good relationship with Cerridwen, despite having been created by her in the first place. She sees her 'mother' as an arrogant know-it-all and they have been known to have frequent sass battles. Cerridwen always wins, of course; Abaia's sass prowess can in no way surpass that of the almighty sass master.
