Show Name: Dreams Are But Illusions - Illusia
Brief Personality:
Illusia is a humble and down-to-earth lady. Her high height and friendly demeanor earns her much respect, but she never lets pride get into her head. She is a hard worker, and patient too. Her motherly and protective instinct often leads her sacrificing her own resources to help others, regardless the consequences. She never takes advantage of others' trust, and will be loyal and faithful till the end.
Short Story:
Illusia used to be a haughty and selfish girl, not caring for others' feelings or needs. She felt the world evolved around herself. She felt she had to be treated specially, as her sire was the star of the stables and her mother was a high-class mare with a purebred pedigree.
As such, all the foals hated her and didn’t want to be her friend. She kept thinking that she would grow to be a great dressage horse like her dam, or a great driving horse like her sire. She thought she could do it without any effort.
While bragging about it to a group of other fillies, one of them scoffed, “Yeah, the only thing you’ll be great at is being too proud for your own good.”
“Yeah!” Another filly agreed. “You’re just tall on talk and short on skills. Don’t think we’re blind!”
That filly was right. Illusia lacked the grace and elegance of her dam while doing dressage, and lacked the strength and muscles for driving.
One day, as a yearling, she was taken to a horse fair. She was there to witness her parents’ great performances. As Illusia watched wistfully, an old mare around 14 years old approached her.
“Would you want to be as great as them, young one?” The old mare asked.
Illusia nodded, then snapped, “Don’t come here to tell me I’m short on skills. I don’t want to talk to an old hag like you, anyway!”
The old mare smiled patiently, explaining, “You’re not short on skills. I see a lot of potential in you. What you’re short of, however, is the attitude.” The mare paused as Illusia turned to her in surprise.
“Remember, dreams are but illusions, young one. Only if you work hard will you be able to achieve your dreams. Make them real, no longer illusions.”
Illusia tried to think of a retort, but she couldn’t find the right words. The old wise mare’s warning had hit home.
She changed completely. No longer was she petty and stingy, she became caring and generous. She wasn’t proud and lazy anymore, she became hardworking and modest.
She wasn’t who she used to be, thanks to the advice of one wise mare.
