lakota lives a toxic life. she's been in too many abusive relationships, whether it's verbally abusive or physically abusive. she's resorted to treating herself badly, and she smokes fairly often to take away the edge that she's accustomed to. although, kota still seems to find herself crawling back to those who have hurt her and to toxic relationships that have ruined her.

"i never learn," she tells herself with a sigh as she inhales the nicotine of another deadly cigarette -- her third one this week. it usually didn't get this bad for her. although, lakota had just returned from her current boyfriend's house, bringing back bruises and a bouquet of roses that were wilting already. she throws them across the porch and settles down on the first step. sighing heavily, she watches the silvery smoke drifting up and away into the air. "if only i could drift away from here," kota whispers and takes another drag.
