Name: Synth
Gender: masculine nonbinary;
he/his or they/their pronouns
What do they believe they are?:
Ever since he was young, Synth was told that he was a real, living being. He believed it too, but he couldn't ignore the intentional different treatment of him compared to other kids, or the frequent visits to the "doctors" to get so-called check-ups. There were many dropped hints that he wasn't normal- like the specific foods he could and couldn't eat, his strict times, the watchful eyes always on him, and many more all gave off the impression that he wasn't free. It wasn't right. He was less than alive.
In his early teens he "accidentally" came across one of his head caretaker's journals, one that explained in perfect detail the "synthetic life" program that they were taking part in. Almost immediately after finding out that he really wasn't real, Synth did what none of the scientists expected- he turned tail and escaped. He judged himself harshly after that, doing what he could to run away and live off of the land, eventually coming to a rather large city. He found help as he aged, primarily from some college students in the area that all chipped in to hide and take care of him. Synth told them that he was a robot and that they didn't need to waste their resources on an inanimate being like him, but they all brushed his words off and eventually befriended him. He eventually left one day when the kalon he was currently staying with was at a party, vowing to stop causing trouble for them. That was the day that he was found.
Synth tried to run away and almost did until he tripped. He tripped; with cuts and
blood littering his "plastic fiber" fur. The dizziness and pain that he felt were real, and he was an AI no longer. After all, robots didn't get the rush of adrenaline he had at that moment, nor the strong motivation to escape.
