Do you ever feel like your life is one big music video? No? Well, this guy sure does. Suga listens to a lot of music, and one can find him walking, standing, or trotting with a skip in his step to the tune of the theme song of the day! Toes tapping, tail swishing, this Kalon is always moving.

"Excuse me?"

The Kalon's eyebrows furrowed as he stuck his nose deeper into his book, flipping the page eagerly to get to the juicy part. Rebecca was just about to reveal something good --- was she betraying Jessica to be with Brad, or was she about to tell Jessica that it was actually Jessica she loved?

"EXCUSE ME!"

Suga snapped the book shut with a sigh, glancing up at the intruder through his circle glasses. It was the barista. He was in the coffee line, waiting for his drink.

"Excuse me, sir, your drink is done!" The barista timidly reminded him, her tail swishing behind her.

"Oh, right! My apologies!" He laughed lightheartedly, tucking his book to his side and reaching for his cup of coffee. "I thought I could just sneak in a few words, but, well, books are books!"

"It's no problem. Hey, is that Twisted Hearts by Ana Vulcana?"

"It is! It just came out a few days ago --- I've only now found the time to start catching up on it. Do you like her work?"

"I do! I absolutely love her work. I haven't gotten a chance to get my hands on the book -- the library's all checked out."

"That's a shame."

Suga took a moment standing there, before a rather kind idea crossed his mind. His ears perked up, and he handed the book across the counter.

"Here. You can borrow it --- I come in every day, you can give it back when you're done. How about that?"

"Wait, really?" The barista asked, in a state of disbelief.

"Yes, really! I have plenty of books to read --- I'll be fine while you read."
"Oh, gosh! Thank you so much!" The Barista gushed, tucking the book underneath the counter and looking starstruck.


"No worries." He shot her a smile, and moved to take a seat in the cafe.

S: Still studying?
A: Affirmative.
S: How enlightening.
S: Please, do tell me more on your affirmative studying.
A: Suga, please. I am busy studying.
A: I don't have time to spend all day texting you and Vulcan.

S: Your true genius of being mentioned in a conversation, and your ability to interrupt any conversation when that name is spoken?
V: Exactly.
S: I hardly consider that genius, personally.
S: But hey, what do I know? I'm just a bookworm.
A: Was that a stab at me, Suga?
S: I would never dream of making a joke that targeted you, my dear friend!
A: I am detecting sarcasm.
V: Congratulations, egghead, you detected sarcasm for the first time in possibly your life.
S: Lol.
A: Hmph.
S: Oh, Alexander. We mean no harm in our teasing!
A: It's fine.
V: Aww, look at him, he's getting all upset!
S: Vulcan.
V: Are the egghead's feelings hurt?
S: Vulcan.
A: I'm leaving.
S: Wait!
S: Vulcan, shut your mouth!
S: We all know what you're doing, so quit it.
V: What am I doing?
S: You know darn well what you do.
S: And I'm putting an end to it, thank you very much.
S: Hothead, go take a chill pill in the corner.
V: Whatever.
S: Alexander.

S: ... I'm sorry that we hurt your feelings.
S: We didn't mean any harm in our teasing!
A: Like I said, it's fine.
S: I know you don't really poke your head out of your books much.
S: But...we're grateful you take the time to hang out with us.
S: Even if it's just a few words.

The louder more destructive kids intimidate her a lot so whenever she is in class students don't listen to her well. While she is shy and soft-spoken, her persistence triumphs all. A young child sat at the restaurant table alone, her
parents off in an argument yet again about who's
turn it was to take her this time. For other children
this argument was about which parent would get to
take them home for a week and spend time with
their child, but for what used to be the Porter family
it was about which parent had to deal with their child
for the week to come. The closeness to a breakthrough
or troubles at work were only two of the excuses
thrown by the scientists who believed themselves out
of earshot of the young child. It wasn't that they didn't
love their daughter Nerissa, it was just that they cared
for for their work.

Nerissa, now fourteen, sat on the cold bleacher's of the
college's stadium. While many colleges poured their
funding into their sports teams it was clear this one
had other priorities. A nice change in scenery, the
science labs of this college were bursting with new
materials, and visiting science professors often had
the expression of a kid in a candy shop as they
viewed the materials the labs possessed.

The stadium however was covered in grime from years
of use, and the food often cleaned up by the seagulls
who one caretaker, in a feat of both genius and laziness,
had trained to throw away trash left by visitors.

Nerissa Porter, now 26, sat at her desk in the apartment
she called home. Her blog had countless followers, all
waiting for her next theory. She'd posted about bigfoot
as an ancient egyptian pharaoh, and the mothman as
a friend of British royalty and advising them for centuries,
before being mercilessly murdered for a crime he hadn't
committed. There were many other stories she came up
with, digging up partial facts from history (always her
favorite subject in school) and using then to piece
together wild stories about whatever came to mind. She
believed none of them of course, this was the only way
she'd found to get attention, something she'd lacked in
childhood.

Several facts lay on the word document in front of her,
and she leaned back in her chair as she removed the string
her mother had given her from around her neck and began
to use it for a small game of cat's cradle.

What would she come up with next? A famous
psuedoarchaeologist like herself should be able to come
up with something, right? Perhaps she should take a walk
to jumpstart her creative juices...
