who, where, why?
The light dimly shone on Chance's face, and he squinted uncertainly at the kalon in front of him.
"Who are you?" A grunt sounded from across a desk.
"I'm Chance," Chance replied. The kalon tapped his paw on the desk impatiently. "More detail," He demanded. "W-well," Chance stuttered "I'm just an ordinary guy. Well, I mean, I might be in a gang, but we tend to be nice. We don't get mixed with the murdering sort. It wasn't any of us, I swear, we'd never do it."
The policekal stared blankly. "Where were you at 4 AM, on July the 15th?"
"I- I was asleep," Chance admitted sheepishly. The cop narrowed his eyes. "Can anyone vouch for this alibi?"
"Yeah, my buds were spending the night. Three of 'em, that's solid, isn't it?" After taking a few notes, the policekal looked back at him, expressionless. He needed a motive.
"Did you know Mr. Gingi?" "No, not at all! I think Kiri might have known him though."
"Why did you commit the murder?"
Chance froze, and fear radiated from him. "Why me?"
"Well," the cop growled "your type don't typically rat each other out."
Chance shamefully hung his head. "I- well, he ruined my life. I used to have a chance at success. Then he bullied and hurt me until I lost all ambition and belief in myself."
"Take him away."
optional extra:
I paced the prison floor, planning my escape. It wasn't me who murdered Mr. Gingi. I didn't wan't the cop to suspect my pals,
so I figured I'd make myself look guilty. There was plenty evidence pointing to me anyway. There would be no doubt I did it.
They hadn't sentenced me yet, but I figured it'd be a death penalty. I had to get out. I eyed the barred window, an obvious exit point. I climbed my way up to it, and stared out. A watchtower lay at some distance, with a tall fence beyond it. Perhaps...
It was finally time. The guard let me out of my cell, and led me toward the wide enclosed area. I made my way towards the fence,
but not too close. I began to dig whenever the guards backs were turned. Eventually, I made a well-sized pit that I could fit in.
I covered it with sticks and grass. When they called us is, I dove into it, and stayed as quiet as possible. No one noticed. This was not the best prison, and I was going to be moved to a higher security one the next day. I snuck up to the fence, and when the guard in the watchtower was checking the side opposite to me, I began to climb. There was barbed wire at the tom, but I endured the pain, and ran for my freedom. They would be looking for me, but I would run so far, no one would ever find me again...
