scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.
their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another kalon from afar. This
association with other kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

prompt; past his vast garden of herbs, there's a shed. the shed's old but still intact & useful. it's an average shed, but if you look closer theres some rather gaping crevices at the base. on the hour, stray cats and kittens run out of the holes. he knows they're hungry so he always uses his spare time to feed them! each day, after he gets out of work, he makes sure he feeds them. he does so even when he's exhausted and has more paperwork to do. it's not a chore, he loves them all. he loves to watch the kittens play. they were afraid of him but nowadays, they come up to winnie and meow. he's given them all names and can tell even the most similar kittens apart. they've been keeping him company, almost like family...

prompt; Emily has always been interested in faeries and folklore, and making faerie gardens was a large pass time when she was little. She would make use of anything that she could find- from moss and leaves to spider webs and berries. Making them was just as fun as playing with toys in them! Now that she's older she has grown out of playing in them for the most part, but she does have younger cousins that get very excited at the thought of faeries throwing parties when they weren't looking- hence her new hobby. She likes to set up the same faerie camps that she did when she was a kid for when her younger family members visit.

prompt; there's a faint scratching noise in the distance, coming from what seems to be a small corner in the room beside honeydew. he gets up and walks over to the other room where he finds nonnie, in the corner of her room, leaning over her desk and staring down at a piece of paper with some kind of bendy writing all over it. honeydew takes a step back and the wooden floor creeks slightly, making nonnie get up and look over at honeydew.
honeydew is slightly taken aback. "what are you doing?" he asks his roommate, quietly.
"it's called calligraphy," nonnie replies. "it's basically just pretty letters and words, but it's calming and enjoyable. it helps me relax and get my mind off of things." she holds up a piece of paper and on it is "honeydew" written in green ink, in a cute cursive font.

She collects fireflies each morning for the night, then lets them go the next morning. It may be a hard task at time but Aleene always flies through it with ease.

Ari is a smart, focused Kalon. He has always done well in school due to his good memory, and he never procrastinates. When working on a project, he will set aside a period of time- usually a few hours- and stick to his task without his attention ever wandering. This may be useful most of the time, but Ari's rigid schedule means he is not very adaptable. Ari is also conscientious, and (most of the time) he tries to do the right thing to earn the respect of others.

However, Ari is also very stubborn and frequently gets into disagreements. He can also hold quite a grudge and has a whole mental list of people that he will not ever talk to again (except to make snide comments about them when they are in hearing range) over a disagreement that went a little too far.

Ari is most interested in etiquette rules of ancient Romans. He will spend hours searching the web or perusing books for information- all of which he writes down in a blue notebook he keeps close by. Though Ari will often snicker at the strange Roman customs that seems so alien in modern day Iceland, he adores etiquette for an another reason though. Ari finds that observing the etiquette of the Romans helps him understand what was so important to them, that they followed rules seemingly without logical sense. He also likes carrying those traditions onto his life whenever possible. His mother might not have allowed him a full seven-course meal on his birthday, but he still does recline on the couch while eating, just like an ancient Roman gentleman.
