the man in the mask, criminal

they all began calling him the man in the mask. everyone had masks on, but his was always the best. "they must be made by a designer!"

it was the second saturday of the month, and every second saturday there was a masquerade ball. the ball was held in the same large, gorgeous building that was used especially for the occasion. kalons dressed up in their best clothes and wore their most fashionable masks. some came alone, maybe to get away from their spouses and dance with another unknown? the masks protected their identity, they could all get away with anything and no one would ever know who was actually behind what was done. it was perfect.

the man in the mask was there as always, he never missed the monthly masquerade ball. his mask looked especially great tonight, half dark grey, half white with gold designs around the top of the eyes and two ribbons that must've been made of real gold. it covered his nose, around his eyes, and half of his face. his secret was safe behind his mask. while others only wore masks that covered around their eyes, the man in the mask needed more coverage.

everybody knew him even though nobody knew him. they knew it was him because no mask could come close to looking as good as his. but at the same time, they didn't know who he actually was. no one knew what he was under his mask. just like he didn't know anyone else under their masks. he didn't care though, he wasn't interested in knowing kalons underneath their masks personally.

he was wearing his best clothes as well. his suit fit him perfectly- solid black with the same gold designs as his mask. "he looks ravishing!"

"hey there, man in the mask!" an innocent kalon greeted him as he walked up the stairs that led into the ball. all eyes were on him, everyone had to stop and stare to get a good look at his mask. the man in the mask greeted the kalon back with the nod of the head and then continued to make his way up the stairs. he didn't have time to be stopping and conversing with others. he had business to do.

the man in the mask had finally made his way into the building. it was gorgeous as always, packed with kalon's in masks. some were dancing with their partner, others were alone waiting. waiting for someone to come and sweep them off their feet. someone like the man in the mask. he made his way over to a kalon who was all by himself, standing with a drink in his hand. he'd be his next victim.

"hello there," the man in the mask said, grabbing the other male's hands and pulling him out for a dance. "care to dance?" he asked. the other male just nodded, not saying even one word. no one ever rejected the man in the mask, man or woman. they were always too shocked when he asked them to a dance. "he's dancing with in the man in the mask!" "how did he get so lucky?"

the two danced one dance and once it was over the man in the mask took the other kalon outback where no one else ever came.

"it's a lovely night out," the man in the mask said. "what are we doing out here?" the other male said, ignoring the man in the mask's previous statement. out of nowhere, the criminal grabbed the other's neck and looked him straight in the eyes. "let me get straight to the point," he said, stopping for a moment and looking the other male up and down. "tell anybody about this and you're dead," the criminal said, tightening his grip. "you got that?" he asked. the other male nodded, gasping for air.

the criminal loosened his grip around the other's kalon neck. "give me your watch," he said. it was the only thing he saw on the other that had any value. "my watch?" the innocent male asked, eyes scared. "yes. give it to me," the criminal raised his voice slightly, beginning to get impatient. without another word, the other kalon handed over his watch, too scared to deny the criminal's command. "remember, we don't tell anyone about this. right?" the criminal asked. "r-right," the other said fearfully. "great. now get back in there and have a good time," the criminal said as he shoved the other male back into the building where the masquerade ball was still going on.

every month, one less kalon came to the masquerade ball in fear of the criminal. no one ever told his secret, either. he was safe.

Purin spoke in a rough voice and made shady deals. Exiting the alley with large crates and snapping when asked questions. Everyone figured she was a dealer in something bad.
Talked about her behind her back and made efforts to avoid her.
They never knew the real her.
Her daily routine.
The kalon entered the alley and the shady guy looked her way.
"I like to make you a deal."
"Oh yeah whats that?"
"10 fire chickens 5 gems."
"Thats all?"
"Yep."
She was a chicken farmer.
In the crate was her new chickens.
Purin Charm was pleased with her deal. She'd even threw in a thank you gift for the shady guy. Cleaner for that guys earrings. A cheap gift but she was sure he'd appreciate it. Why not she had quite a bit to thank him for.

She made her deals with the guy daily.
For it was hard for her to leave her chicken ranch for lavalands. Every now an then he'd take half price. Sometimes he would just take her hard earned gems.
That was the gamble she took for not leaving her home. Honestly it was a bit fun in the end. Like a game of sorts.
