Daily Prompt 1 ------- 1009 words
      Dʀᴀᴡ/ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴋᴀʟᴏɴ(s) ᴘʀᴇᴘᴀʀɪɴɢ
      ᴛᴏ ᴇᴍʙᴀʀᴋ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ǫᴜᴇsᴛ.

The day was still young, a cold morning cracking over the leaky roof of the Alder home. Kibasha sat at attention, eyes scanning the street for the familiar glow of her mysterious companion. Yushin, an aimless traveler with little history to speak of, had promised to take her and her sister along on a journey neither of the girls could have ever dreamed of. Ahead, the promise of adventure and heroism loomed with a sickly sweet anticipation. The thin blanket of rain drizzled down over the cobblestone streets, chilling the air with a cool misty draft. Yushin was off restocking his supplies. What he needed for this venture, Kibasha could only guess. He'd been gone nearing and hour now, and her anticipation was mingling with anxieties as she considered the trustworthiness of their guide.

Kibasha and her sister had met the stranger down in the marketplace, at their mother's lights show. The crackle of the alchemic fireworks and mists rattled the skies, and he may have gone unnoticed to the young kalons except for his eyes, a pale, glowing green, shone out from below his dark hooded cloak. He was a strange creature, a furless kalon with a misty green glow emanating from the myriad of starlike markings across his skin. But she'd seen his dagger, recognized a rogue immediately, and felt a moment of intrigued excitement at the stories the visitor had to tell. After the show, he approached the cart inquiring about a place to stay. It only took a small amount of pleading before her mother agreed, and Yushin was granted a place with them, for the night.

Without a sound, Rita glided up behind her sister, her own pale green eyes watching the window carefully as the water droplets collected on the sill. Her own bag was packed, every medicinal cure she knew stowed away, every healing word she could muster. The young cleric was only beginning her exploration into the art of magical healing, but at both her own will and that of her mothers', she'd agreed immediately to accompany Kibasha and this stranger, Yushin, on their quest to cleanse the land. At first, the quiet young kalon had only sat back to listen as her sister led the questions, and Yushin slowly opened up to the family. He had been traveling for years, to little end but his own, until he learned that his childhood kingdom had fallen into a state of unmoving darkness. He'd immediately returned, only to find that it was true, and even more engrossing than the stories had told. Each day, the homes and shops he'd once known had fallen into deeper despair. He'd told of his anger, and his subsequent determination - to rid the land its plague once and for all. Of course, Kibasha had taken up the cause immediately, drawing her blade and parrying playfully with the newcomer's dagger. But Rita knew, too, that her sister was a talented fighter, and well on her way to becoming one of the most skilled swordsmen in the village. Kibasha took up the cause at once, and Rita was not one to let her sister travel alone.

"He's going to get me a new sword," Kibasha grinned back at her sibling. Rita returned the comment with a wordless smile. Kibasha sighed, her eyes widening as they returned back to the windowpane. "Rita," she exhaled. "I nearly forgot." Getting up at once, the pale green kalon disappeared to her room, her two tails twisting excitedly behind her. Rita blinked, brow furrowed ever so slightly as she traced her sister's footsteps, waiting outside the door. When Kibasha reemerged, it was with a wide, giddy grin. "Here," she smiled, pulling from behind her back a lustrous silver locket, delicately ornate, though not encrusted with anything of real value. A simple polished stone adorned its front, and the delicate clasp was shut tight. "It was supposed to be for your birthday, but I don't know if we'll be back."

Rita's eyes glittered with the necklace, and she laughed as she embraced her sister. "Thank you, Basha. It's wonderful." She carefully lifted it around her neck, tucking it inside her silky black cloak. It really was a perfect gift for a girl with such an affinity for silver. But more than that, the thought that her sister had purchased something no doubt so valuable had her giggling with delight. "I wish I had something for you," she smiled, listening with delight as the necklace jingled against her holy symbol, worn just a few inches lower around her neck.

"I thought you'd like it. It's okay," Kibasha returned, "I don't need anything." She gave her sister another tight squeeze. "I'm just glad you're coming too."

The duo ran over their supplies once more: plenty of clothes, cloaks, a blanket each, a handful of coins (a gift from their mother), a single bottle of healing draft, Kibasha's light fencing armor, Rita's medicine books and first aid supplies, and as many rations as the duo could cram into their bag otherwise. Yushin would have the more imperative supplies, everything to set up camp for the night and the basic survival necessities the girls rightfully wouldn't have nearly the knowledge to prepare. And the sword he'd promised Kibasha.

Just as the girls had taken their accounts, repacked the bags, and returned to the window, the furless kalon appeared around the corner, and Kibasha shouted for joy at the glint of a blade. Rita held her hand around the locket as they said their goodbyes, each of their mothers giving endless directions and showering the girls with all the love they could give. No doubt it would be quiet at home without them. But as their eyes turned to the leaks in the roof, their mothers' worn but smiling faces, the familiar sights and scents of home, both girls knew that their journey was a necessary one. To save their home, Yushin's home. To save everyone.

With lifted spirits, the trio opened the door and stepped out into the rain.
Have a good day y'all.

Picking armor wasn't hard... Now, putting it on, that's a different story. After finally getting Gale out of her getup, she settled on taking the cloak.

day 1: where are we?

    “this is gonna be awesome!”

avery let out a small sigh and set his bag down in time to see michael bounding up the steps, a grin plastered on his face. the older kalon frowned. “we’re most likely going to die. that’s not ‘awesome,’ as you say,” avery replied. michael shifted uncomfortably under avery’s heavy gaze.

“i don’t think we’re going to die,” he muttered and broke eye contact. “besides, this is gonna be just like my games! i mean, i never played any fantasy games but every game has the same goal: do the mission and beat the boss! and that’s just what we’re going to do, and we’ll be fine, and we’ll find a way home. like, dude, you’re basically an elf and i’m gonna be a king or whatever and i just thi…”

avery turned his back and let michael’s voice fade to the background. he was still concerned, regardless of what michael might say. neither of them understood what was happening. one minute they had been in avery’s greenhouse arguing over the importance of bees, and the next they were both waking up in the middle of a world the likes of which avery had never seen or even heard of.

--

“holy hell. dude. avery? avery? are you there?”

    “i’m here.”

“avery where the hell are we? did you drug me? i’m sorry i said bees were lame, but that’s not cool dude.”

“michael i didn’t drug you. where are you? it’s too dark for me to see anything and i don’t think i have my phone.”
scuffling sounds that mkes the fur on avery’s back bristle, then silence. he frowns and blinks hard, peering into the darkness surrounding him to try and make out anything. he feels fine, physically, though his head feels a little muddled. where is he? why cant’t he see? and where is michael?

avery stifles a scream as something brushes against his tail. he jumps up—he hadn’t realized he was sitting—and backs up until he hit something solid. just a tree. “michael,” he chokes out, hardly daring to breathe. he can’t see. why can’t he see? why isn’t michael answering?
“my name is not michael,” a voice whispers into his ear. avery closes his eyes and chokes back a sob. he’s about to die, and he can’t see, and he can’t breathe, and he doesn’t know where michael is, and he’s going to die he’s going to die he’s going to die he’s going to d—

“open your eyes, child.” it’s the same voice he hears, this time in his other ear. the voice is soft, comforting, inviting—just like a siren. avery lets out a ragged breath and opens his eyes, only to quickly shut them and wince at the lights around him. that’s new.
slowly opening his eyes again, avery looks around. he’s in a forest, but nothing like he’s ever experienced before. it was… living. all plants are alive, but they don’t live. avery feels life pulsating from each branch, each life around him. “who are you?” he whispers, eyes wide in a mix of fear and wonder.

“it does not matter who i am. it matters who you are, elf ruler.” he spins around at the voice and ends up ramming his nose into the tree behind him. he swears softly as he feels blood leak from his nose. putting one paw against his nose, he takes a step back. “i’m not an elf,” he replies thickly.

a soft peal of laughter rings through the forest. “put your paws on the bark, child.” the voice instructs. avery shakes his head softly. was a tree talking to him? he must be drugged if he’s imaging this. could he have eaten some bad mushrooms? had michael been smoking something in the greenhouse?

michael. avery takes another step back. “michael?” he shouts. “where are you?” he doesn’t get a response from michael. “the bark” is the only thing he hears. he coughs and spits out a mouthful of blood. grimacing, he steps forward and places a paw on the bark of tree in front of him. a shock immediately jolts from his paw throughout his entire body; it’s not an entirely unpleasant sensation, but incredibly unfamiliar. he removes the paw holding his nose and places it on the bark of the tree. looking down at his nose, he watches as the dripping of his blood slows and then stops all together. avery let out an incredulous sigh as he pulled his paws back and felt his nose: nothing. no blood, no scrape, no pain.

“what is going on?” he whispers. the same giggle from earlier sounds behind him and he spins around to see a formless… form? it was a mass of… something that he couldn’t put words to, a mass of color and elements and emotions. there isn’t a name for it, it just… is.

“i’m not an elf,” avery says immediately. “thank you for helping my nose but… i don’t think i’m what or whoever you’re looking for.” laughter again.

“i know you are not elven, child. a druid, yes. an elf, no. the name you bear is a powerful one: ‘elf ruler.’ carry it well.”
avery frowns and shakes his head. “i don’t understand what’s happening, or what you’re saying to me. my name is avery bellwick and i’m a botanist from america. i’m not an elf, i don’t know what a druid is, and i don’t understand what’s happening.”

the mass shifts violently, colors roiling. “you are needed. there is great evil coming to our land. you must be prepared to save it.” avery takes a step forward. “i don’t understand what you’re saying. where am i? who are you? what are you?” he stops moving, breathing hard. his heart is racing, but he doesn’t know if it’s anxiety or fear. “i’m not who you’re looking for. i just want to go home.” his voice cracks on the last word. oh god. home. he’s never going home. he’s going to die here. he’s going to die and never go home and he’s going to die and there’s nothing he can do to stop it and his life is over and he’s going t—

“child.” his eyes fly open. he didn’t realized he had closed them. his paws are clenched and tears prick at his eyes. “you are needed. free us from the darkness. follow your heart, elf ruler. picking sides is not always a downfall.”

just as avery opens his mouth to reply, a voice sounds from behind him. “avery?” avery spins around and before he knows what’s happening, he has an armful of michael mell clinging to him. the tears that threatened now run down his face as he hugs michael tightly. he lets go after a long moment, breathing heavily. he looks over his shoulder to finish his question, but the mysterious form is no longer there. he looks back at michael with wide eyes. “what is happening?”

--

michael went on to explain that he had encountered something similar to what avery had, and it told him that he was supposed to be “a paladin or something like that. like, out of the fantasy games, you know?” it hadn’t explained exactly what he needed to do, but informed michael of the same evil threat that avery had been told about. “it kept asking me ‘who is like god?’ i still don’t know what he meant by that.” michael said. they were on a quest, michael told him. a quest to do exactly what, neither of them knew. but fulfilling this quest seemed to be the only way they might ever get back home.

michael had found a seemingly abandoned cottage while he was wondering the woods looking for avery, and according to him, “it’s full of so much cool stuff dude! like there’s a sword and clothes and even a ton of gold! it’s like the start stuff you get in a video game, avery! it’s so cool!” avery followed michael back to the house and they had spent the last several days in the cottage, exploring the forest and going through the things in the house. avery ended up in possession of a longbow and michael claimed the sword. michael had found a map in one of the cabinets in the cottage, and they had been studying it in an attempt to figure out where they were and where to go. if they were right, there was a city or village or whatever it’s called somewhat near them. they planned to go there first. wherever they were, it sure wasn’t anywhere they had ever heard of.

“avery are you listening to me?” a paw on his shoulder made avery jump. michael stepped back, an amused look on his face. “were you daydreaming?” he asked.

avery flicked an ear in annoyance. “i was just thinking. our ‘spirit guides’ didn’t give us much advice,” he mused. “they did equip us well, though.” he looked down at his outfit: a dark tunic, dark drawstring breeches, and soft worn leather boots. his travelling cloak hung by the door. michael’s attire was similar, except for the color; whereas his clothing was made of dark fabric, michael’s was all light colored.

“we’ll leave tomorrow,” he said briskly, walking away from the window. “get some sleep, michael. we’re going to need it.”

tomorrow, their quest began. tomorrow, their lives would begin to change forever. tomorrow, avery the botanist and michael the gamer were no more. tomorrow, they were a druid and a paladin set to travel across an unknown land in search of an unknown but powerful evil that threatened the very existence of an entire land. tomorrow, they were adventurers.

Prompt 1

Dʀᴀᴡ/ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴋᴀʟᴏɴ(s) ᴘʀᴇᴘᴀʀɪɴɢ
ᴛᴏ ᴇᴍʙᴀʀᴋ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ǫᴜᴇsᴛ.

Etoile - Mage

"Hmm.." I ponder what I should bring as I stare at my empty bag. It could fit dozens of spellbooks and a ton of potions but yet I can't decide what to bring. Ingredients perhaps? A wand? No, no, none of it is right. I quickly shuffle over to my bookcase and select a few books such as "Ways to heal a kalon' and 'Quick spells for tough situations' along with other spells I had developed myself and put into a book. I prayed that they would work properly as I stuck them in my bag. I mean, i had to help save Kalokairi from the evil they faced, no matter the cost to myself. I then pressed a button, revealing a secret door behind the book case. This room protected my things like wands, enchanted armor, and potion ingredients. The only people who knew about this were my two friends Mika and Andromeda.

I slipped into the room, chanting a spell when I was inside that would cover the door back up with the book case. I carefully picked out a wand, it was a dark brown wood engraved with swirls. It appeared to curl around like a unicorn horn would do, but it curled only at the top in several different layers of wood. In the middle of that wood, sticking out a bit at the top was an amethyst. This one was by far my favored wand. I stuffed it into my bag before moving on to my potion ingredients, grabbing the most important ones used for healing potions and health potions. Satisfied with the ingredients, I went into yet another door where all my enchanted armor was held. Usually I would just sell this to the knights, but today I felt that I might need it, finally. I grabbed a nice set of armor that I knew would protect me from most things.

Once I was done I exited my secret room, deciding that I would need things like a tent, and perhaps a dagger or two so I could be safer then I would be with only my spells and potions. I had to borrow a tent from a friend, in which I stuffed into my bag. Now, you may be wondering how exactly I fit all my items into my bag, well, it is an enchanted bag of course, it could hold ten thousand kalon's and still be light as a feather, ready to hold more things! I suppose that's not useful information though, so I will return to the story. I grabbed a small dagger, putting it away, making sure the point would not hurt me. It was safely in my bag so I decided I needed one last thing, food. I grabbed non perishable food in cans, and a few loaves of bread from a bakery on the corner of my street. I grabbed some fruit and a few bottles of water, and, don't tell anybody though, some chocolate.

I was now prepared for my quest to help save Kalokairi!

Dʀᴀᴡ/ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴋᴀʟᴏɴ(s) ᴘʀᴇᴘᴀʀɪɴɢ
ᴛᴏ ᴇᴍʙᴀʀᴋ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ǫᴜᴇsᴛ.

Prompt 1

Roster kalons used; Aaron, Seneca (Alice is mentioned in this)

(Note: I kinda used a RPG stats format + POV for the writing)

Enter; Aaron & Seneca

Select; Aaron POV
Class: Mage
Element; Neutral, leaning towards light & electric
HP: 3567
ATK: 20
DEF: 38
SPD: 15
LCK: 54
Level: 1

You look over your heaps of clothes, none of which is armor. While this was supposed to be a vacation, there's weird things happening on the island. But... while you don't have good armor, you can always buy some at the actual island. After all, you have the money after all. Besides you think that this may be the adventure of a lifetime. It's good to break from the usual life once in a while. You get a backpack and fill it with;

>Health kit (contains bandages and medicine if necessary, along with misc. other stuff like antidote)
> Food & Water (Of course, who wouldn't pack that)
> Some clothes

That's... not much to be honest. You go visit a place and get some gear, because now that you think about it the island doesn't have any gear shops.

So... what now? There's an awful lot of gear here. You're not at all familiar with this place, so you grab whatever you think might be good fit, so you grab;

>Berserker Wand (+10 ATK, +2 DEF, -7 SPD. Technically you should've gotten one of the beginners wands, but how bad could it be?)
>Angel's charm (+8 DEF)
>Valkyrie boots (+2 SPD, +1 DEF)
>Club ring (+4 LCK? Or at least you think so, it looked really nice so you got it)
>A book with 479 spells?

You honestly had no idea what the shopkeepers meant, so you just choose randomly (but the more expensive ones). You hope that you decisions will pay off on this adventure since you want to try and help out. You're quite exited, and you made sure your kit had a babysitter to take care of her, because she's not old enough to go on a adventure yet.

At least you thought so, because you didn't see that Alice followed you into the boat to the island with Seneca as well.

Select; Seneca POV
Class: Ranger
Element; Wind/Shadow
HP: 2344
ATK; 19
DEF; 14
SPD; 45
LCK; 21

Aaron let you go with him, so you're packing up as well. You're not at all hesitant to go, rather you're looking forward. But since this isn't a vacation, you need some armor and some weapons. Fortunately, you have some armor, not enough to go but still decent enough. You pack;

> Two bows and a lot of arrows (+7 ATK, +8 SPD)
> Rather Sturdy boots (+1 DEF)
> Map and a compass

You still need something, like a shield. You head down to a local shop to get a piece of worn armor (+9 DEF). As you about to go out, a stranger provides to infuse magic into your gear for free. A bit hesitant, but you accept. Soon enough, you're going with Aaron on a boat to there. He has everything else ready, so you don't have to worry. You're intrigued on what's going on at the island, but you do have a bit of a second though to yourself....
