history: "wait here my poppet." those were the last words dean's mother ever spoke to him. five syllables that would leave the young viscet waiting for a parental return never to occur. for a while he waited. thinking, hoping, that his mother would be right back. that she was on her way right that moment. as hours changed to days dean began to have an inkling that perhaps his mother wasn't coming back. the signs were all there, yet the young viscet could not bring himself to believe it. he could not imagine why the loving mother he had spent his first few moons with would give him up. yet as days continued to draw past with no sign of his mother or any signal that she was actually returning, dean had no choice but to accept the unfortunate truth. for whatever reason, his mother had left him there and was not going to be coming back. as the truth of his abandonment finally sunk in, dean found himself with a choice. he could either wait at the nursery and hope to be adopted, or, he could set out on his own. it was a surprisingly easy decision. that next morning, before the sun had reached it's peak in the sky, dean set out, determined to make it on his own. after all, he didn't need anyone. not anymore. the first day was spent wandering, the young viscet trying to determine where exactly he was going to go. after all, one cannot properly run away and make it on their own without a destination. it took the first and second days for dean to finally come to a concluded destination. north of the small village in which he was currently staying, was a large city, one of which professed "anyone can be anything here". with a destination in mind, and his future in front of him, dean set out for the city, managing to arrive after only three days of traveling. throughout his journey, dean had pictured the clean utopia of the city brochure, however, upon arrival, the young viscet realized the unfortunate truth of images in brochures. the city, while somewhat similar to a utopia in size, was nothing like the viscet had imagined, the brochure proving itself to be quite the deceiver. dean was frustrated at the disappointment the city proved to be, but after three days spent trying to get there, dean was determined to try to make the truth of the city work. it was on dean's first day in the city that he quite literally ran into a viscet known as castiel. after grunting out an apology, dean tried to get back to exploring the city, however the young viscet swiftly found that castiel, intrigued by the lone young viscet, was not about to leave him alone. dean tried to warn him off, though the young viscet's threat only earned a soft chuckle from the older viscet. with a sense of consignment, dean determined that if this viscet was not going to leave him alone, he might as well use the older viscet's knowledge of the city to help get him a job and a place to stay. castiel surprisingly took the young viscet's request for a job quite seriously and offered dean the opportunity to work and stay with him. knowing better than to go home with strangers, dean swiftly proceeded to decline the offer, proceeding to then run off into the city, not waiting to hear castiel's response. as dean ran, night began to fall upon the city, and the young viscet quickly realized that he needed to find a place to spend the night. after an hour spent searching, the best dean could manage was a large box located next to a large dumpster, so, with no other option, that was where dean spent the night, the young viscet curled up within the shelter of the box. after a rather uncomfortable night of sleep, dean found himself awoken by the presence of a police viscet, one of whom was quick to ask where dean's parents were and what he was doing sleeping on the streets. stumbling for an answer, dean was certain his fate was sealed, when, out of nowhere, appeared castiel. while dean's initial reaction to the older viscet was one of distrust and suspicion, he wasn't sure how he had been tracked down so quickly, the police viscet's reaction was very different. the young officer seemed to stumble at the sight of the other viscet, castle evidently hold quite the position over the police. "how about you leave my friend here alone." castiel said to the police viscet, gesturing with a paw, at dean. almost immediately the police viscet apologized to dean for bothering him and swiftly proceeded to leave, not wanting to do anything that might upset castiel. "i had things under control." dean grumbled to castiel as the older viscet focused his gaze down on him. "you're welcome." castiel simply replied, proceeding to turn and walk away. as much as he didn't trust castiel, dean couldn't help but follow him, curious as to how the older viscet managed to shoo away the police. after a few minutes, castiel seemed to realize dean was trailing him as the older viscet called out, "my offer still stands." dean, slightly embarrassed at being revealed, felt his cheeks turn a pale pink as castiel turned back around to face him. "what is it you do?" dean managed to respond, his mind actually beginning to consider the offer, after all, castiel did help him out with the police. castiel uttered no reply to dean's question, but the twinkle in the older viscet's eye, gave the sense that whatever castiel did, it was something dean might like. as if he knew that dean was considering the offer, castiel proceeded to gesture with his paw for dean to follow, the older viscet then continuing on his way. dean knew that to follow now would be to accept the offer, and after a moment of thought, the young viscet decided to take a small leap of faith and pad after castiel.

relationships: castiel- since dean's first encounter with the older viscet, castiel and his relationship has developed into a sibling-like bond. castiel is much like a big brother to dean, and can be quite protective of the younger viscet. dean is equally protective of castiel, and will smack any viscet in the eyes if they try to hurt or trash talk him. the relationship between the two consists of a lot of playful banter, both viscets being quite witty and sarcastic, so while to a viewer it might seem like they always argue with one another, that is just how they show affection. in terms of business, castiel is the boss of dean, and while he tries to treat the younger viscet as an equal, when it comes to business decisions, castiel is given priority.
