These two are quality Mutt strays, full of pep and weird faces. These darlings were found cuddlin over at the nearby park and are usually seen chasing the ducks. Personality:Cracker is a very friendly and hyper dog, he loves tug-o-war and swimming, but he tires easily. He thinks he's a lap dog and will often curl up with you, he has a short attention span which makes him very friendly, he's protective of his owner but will welcome friendly people into his home, he will jump in circles when he gets excited before tiring out and laying down.
Why are they so sleepy?:They're so sleeping because their body uses more energy to function, they're really hyper sometimes which tires them out and makes them sleepy, their body sometimes 'over runs' and runs through more energy than needed due to his energetic personality.

The forlorn traveler makes their mark. Dirge wanted to find new things. Life was boring, and he kept on falling asleep; he didn't want to be asleep, no. He wanted excitement; it came in the form of the shepherd mix. Tall with bright eyes and wagging tail; it was adventure.

Dirge is a dog who wants to find the meaning in life. Seemingly introspective, Dirge is often found staring into blank space looking as if they're in thought. He's often throwing himself into danger, believing alternate timelines exist and that somewhere he will be fine in a timeline. Otherwise, he's mostly kind. Kinda arrogant, but understands the pursuit of a goal; man will this dog go far to help reach someone else's dream. Dirge is pretty genuine with his thought and when he does something, it's thought through with all his heart. Nothing is done half-heartedly with him; every ounce of fiber and being goes into his actions. He's extroverted and friendly, excessively stubborn. Also super sleepy.

With the shelter Dirge fit right in. Many people enjoyed the dog's temperament; it made them feel welcome. His muscles strained waiting on command even as people just asked him to sit; the pleasure of being praised, any sort of validation. He was good with kids, liked meeting other dogs and cats, and often behaved as if he was a mixture of the two. Very curious and determined, Dirge's fullhearted effort often gets him into trouble whenever he does something wrong (mostly on accident, but sometimes he likes causing trouble. Messing with those 'alternate timelines' yknow. Dirge doesn't have much of a job aside from greeting people; he dabbles in obedience training but his snoozing gets in the way.


Dirge's reason for sleepiness is because of something he can't control. It seems silly, the fact his whole life purpose-finding something so exciting he won't fall asleep-is based on a disorder. Thankfully, once he was brought into the shelter we managed to minimize him zonking out so frequently.
Narcolepsy is the main reason why he's so sleepy; it happens in dogs every now and then, and it seems like poor Dirge managed to get the short end of the stick. His 'trigger' is mostly when he doesn't sleep well through a night or is very stressed; something lucky for us, as a good portion of narcoleptic dogs end up having excitement as a trigger, whereas Dirge's is stress. The best was his condition is managed is just by keeping him happy, but he's still susceptible to dropping sometimes and is often kept around carpet or soft surfaces for that very reason. Due to the fact Dirge is such an active dog he's almost in a chronic state of tiredness, but thankfully he's becoming more adaptive, and we're working on getting him to take short naps throughout the day in order to minimize it further.

Personality:
Being a mash up of so many different breeds, she happens to have a lot of different sides to her. There's the part of her that loves to retrieve and be in the water. Then, there's the loyal and well listening, good at following commands side, which likes to run and herd things. This sometimes gets in trouble with the moms of her kids' friends. There's the silly and adventurous, vocal side of her. Finally, there's the side of her that wants to run and be in the snow, and can be a bit competitive.

Why is she so sleepy? Because she's constantly awake at night thinking of the other lovely mutt beside her...(XD)
