Milo skipped with a joyous expression plastered atop his small, chubby face. What was held, and not too secured, on his back was a small paper- an announcement of sorts, stating how the school would be holding a competition- a pi competition. Annually, on Pi Day, the kit that could state aloud the most digits of pi would receive a glorious prize- a beautiful, tasteful pie- with elegant whipped cream that was intricately traced, with sweet, delicious curls, and a seemingly tasty apple filling.

As he rushed home, he practiced his brain with another paper, which showed the (hopefully) true numbers of pi. That paper held his soul and confidence, as he studied it all night, up until the big day.

"Milo, you're up!" Proclaimed the speaking kalon, and Milo hopped up to the stage. He looked around nervously. "Three.. point, one four." He shook his head. "Actually.." He proclaimed. "I'm not going to do this!" He stared and pattered to the displayed pie, shaking the cover off. Watching as teachers barreled towards him, he took a bite out of the apple pie- sinking into it's deliciousness, and the grasp of the teacher's bringing him to the (likely) principal's office.

The warm summer air was thick with tension. Three kalons sat side by side, sweat rolling down their foreheads. Nervous. Just as everyone else. The silence was almost too much to bear. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out around them. All three kalons pushed their muzzles forward at lightning speed. Cherry filling flung through the air as they ate as fast as possible. A pie eating contest. A simple contest, just for fun, most may think. But for these professional eaters, it was anything but. The winner would get ten thousand dollars. But to win, they had to be the first to eat ten pies.
Kalon one was already on her second pie.
Kalon two was almost done with his first.
Kalon three, Alona, was almost done with her second pie.
Metal pie tins clattered to the floor as pie after pie was shoved down their gullets. The minutes ticked by as pie after pie was finished.
Five minutes.
Ten.
Fifteen.
Twenty.
Alona finished with a small gasp, a full breath of air entering her lungs. She heard whispering curses from the other cotestants. But there was also a second place prize, and they weren't done yet. The second Kalon was the next to finish. He high fived her happily, grinning brightly. Alona smiled, but grabbed the nearest water bottle and began to chug. After a few moments, she set it down, gasping again. Raising her hands into the air, she grinned, grabbed the second place winner and yelled, " Champions!!!"
What a day. Alona's first big win! What a day!
