favorite item & why: well, her love tends to run towards the most practical things in life. she can definitely be described as an avid utilitarian (and needs to be, living in the deserts of Mexico). aguave loves her hearing aids mostly because they help her feel just a little more connected and useful. her hearing has long been on the fritz but when she was given the hearing aids she suddenly could participate in discussions and voice her opinion (and she has many.)

On Christmas Eve, when talka was only 6 years old, his mother and father gave him a little golden locket. It had a picture in it of all his family members, and ever since then he has worn it everywhere. It reminds him of simpler days, when he was still young and the world was filled with wonder and joy. It's his good luck charm, his precious treasure, and he will love it until the day he dies.

That little mug of coffee, sitting on the counter with steam rising from it's contents, adorned with the slightest sprinkle of cinnamon.
Ato lives off the stuff. You'll never find them without a little mug or cup by their side, filled with rich coffee. Be it sweet, bitter, or anything inbetween, Ato will take it.
Now, I would hardly call the mug their favorite item. The mug could be thrown away, not a care for it's glazed porcelain shell, if it didn't cost so darn much. Seriously, Ato spent like 150 dollars on it.
The coffee is the real prize. It's like a battery charger for Ato, which has become necessary for them to stay awake, talking to people, never drained. It's like their life source, Ato would drop on the floor asleep if they were deprived of coffee.
Staying up late really does a number on a kalon. It's not Ato's fault. Sleep doesn't come, not when the shadows could grab hold of them any moment, suffocating that little spark of life inside. So Ato stays up, huddled in warm sheets and fuzzy blankets, candle in hand, sipping that little mug of coffee.

favorite item & why:
Melette's favorite item is a small beautiful and broken antique clock they found laying in the sand. It's very small, and doesn't tick. It's missing many parts, and the glass is cracked. Its gears and other workings are all old, rusted, or missing. Meleta has decided they would find all the neccessary parts for it and get it fixed, although since the clock is old, it is very difficult to find any. For now, it's cleaned up and sitting pretty on their dresser, silent and eager to work. Melette has collected many various items and antiques while exploring in the desert somehow, and plans to fix them all and then sell them to good homes in her shop. Many Kalons question them and think it's a waste of time and money, however Melette brushes it off. The antiques have history, they've gone through a lot. The clock is Melette's favorite of all their items however. The unticking clock is stuck in the past, and all they want to do is bring it into the future, and show the little clock some love. Of all the antiques, she knows this is one she isn't selling, it already has a home with her.

favorite item and why:
Despite his sophisticated name, Aetius is actually just a little kid in adult form. Our proof? His favorite item- silly string. Not only does he get a kick out of pranking his friends, Aristotle and Vanessa, but he has a personal secret obsession with it. When he's alone, Aetius loves to take his silly string and a sheet of black paper. He then slowly sprays the string on the paper, watching as it covers the paper's tiny indents. He doesn't understand why he gets so much satisfaction watching silly string; he just does.
However, if any other kalon found out about his secret obsession, his quick temper would kick in and he'd probably slam a door in their face. If there wasn't a door to slam- well, he'd probably become frustrated and just get out of there ASAP. There's no way he'll let his weird little obsession with silly string embarrass him!

favorite item & why: Saguaro's favorite item is a bird feather! To be specific, it's a feather from a red-tailed hawk, one of Saguaro's favorite birds. He found it one day on a hike, and was ecstatic when he realized what bird it was from. He always carries it around with him, no matter what; it has become somewhat of a good luck charm to him!

favorite item & why: Natasha's favorite item is a wrench. Wait, I know that may not sound like the most exciting thing in the world, but this is a very special tool. It was given to her by her dad, a mechanic. He taught her to start fixing cars before she could even walk with that very wrench. Engraved in the wrench are her father's initials, and he carried it with him everywhere. On her sixteenth birthday, he gave it to Natasha, along with her very own car to fix up. She was thrilled, and to this day she still uses that wrench (and the car, of course!) to fix cars in her very own garage. Her dad has long since passed away due to a heart attack, but Natasha will never forget him.

Two necklaces happen to be their favorite items. No matter how many times they hit his teeth when running, or when they get caught in boards, he loves them. One is a gold chain from his mothers college, which he clung to his neck and left it on. The other is a fake metal necklace that he bought from a shoplifter in Chicago. It's a crusty and crudy locket that opens halfway and can' barely hold a photo.
Both of them where a small part of his life, but hold a sweet memory. His gold chain came from his mom, when they had to rut around in the ashes of their old trailer. The locket came from the first week when they moved from the trash park of Nevada to Chicago. Another fact was that he got robbed a few hours after. They took everything but the necklaces

Tobias' favorite item is a small charm necklace (hand crafted with an unpolished gem attached to it)

This is Tobias' favorite item because it came from his grandmother's trinket shop. His grandmother was an amazing crafter who spend near her whole life dedicated to her trade. It's one of the last trinkets his grandmother made for him, and he holds it very dear. He rarely leaves home or goes anywhere without it.

Yuri's absolute favorite thing in the world? His stopwatch. Yuri grew up on a farm and when bored, would chase the chickens around the years. Eventually, that got to be a pretty easy task, so he started tailing the farm dog next. She was no match for him, and while he wasn't ever able to quite keep up with their couple of horses, Snowshoe and Lola, he did start racing against other kalons, and pretty soon got to be a real big-time track runner. He always has his watch by his side, timing everything from the speed he eats breakfast, to laps around the farm, to his own dashes he does while he's definitely supposed to be paying attention to the game of kickball that's going on in gym class. But no one can complain - because when he takes off - he's a streak of dark lightning, and you've never seen anything like it.
