Username: Razors
Name: Amara (Once known as Keitha)
Gender: Female

History:

Her story---

(In death)

Keitha stood in a vast, empty space, no clear objects to make out as far as the eye could see. Though that was not far, as most of what was seen was darkness. There was one light and it shone on the backs of two massive creatures, one to her left and one to her right. Beings that towered over Keitha, their shadows alone crossing to form an 'X' on the spot where Keitha stood. “So the Demon has finally fallen,” the left spoke with a smirk. “It took longer than we had thought,” frowned the right. “You've no idea the pain you've caused us, you insufferable pest.”

Keitha instinctively drew her lips back in a snarl, though before she could speak the being on the left lifted it's hand. “We've no patience for whatever it is you might say.” Annoyance was clear in the being’s face, and though Keitha try to protest she found no words would form. They had stolen her voice! Somehow, these two had silenced her! Fury and rage rose in Keitha, who threw her fists up towards the two in a challenge. “Do you even realize where you are?” The being on the right questioned, though Keitha seems not to care what was being said. Instead, she charges forward, ready to take on the two massive beings before her. “Be still!” The voice of the Left being shook the ground under Keitha's feet, though it held a much more fierce effect on Keitha herself. Pain struck through Keitha, forcing her to her knees. “You are dead! This is your judgement! Your time is at an end, Keitha the Demon!” The left being began to raise its hand, though the right quickly motion to them. “Wait, sister. I've a special punishment for this one.” Left looks to Right, curiosity now sparked in the being’s gaze. “Keitha the Demon. Through your actions, whether it be by your own hand or by the hand of the thousands of warriors under your command… You have harmed countless lives. You are known far and wide as a Demon, a terror, a nightmare. You have burned cities and ruined families. There is not a soul that hears your name and does not shudder with fear or pray to us for protection from you.”

Both Right and Left glance to one another, then back to the small being before them that glares at them with fierce hate and animosity. “For these lives you have destroyed,” Right began, pausing as Left chimed in, “and the misery you have caused us in the process.” Right nods, clearly unable to forget such a thing. “We shall put you through a hell far greater than what had been in store for you. A torture far worse than you could imagine…” Right spoke, both Left and Keitha watching her. “Resurrection. Though you will not bear the strength to lift even the lightest of weapons if you intend to lift them to harm another. Your body will be weak and frail, your bones brittle. As strong as you were in your previous life, you shall be ten times as weak in the next. You will bear only one gift in this new life, and this is healing. But this healing will come at a cost to you. Your own body will heal at an alarming rate, but to heal another you must suffer their wounds and experience their pain. You must transfer their wounds onto your own body and suffer as they have suffered. I want you to experience, first hand, the pain you have caused throughout your life. Should you starve, you will not die, should you be be devastatingly wounded, you shall not die. I will not allow you to die…” With this, the Right brought her hands palm up before her, a massive book forming in her grasp.

“In this book is the name of every single person you have harmed throughout your life, whether it was directly by you or by one of your warriors. Even those who lie and claim to be working for you, if they harm someone, then the victim’s name will be written here. For every two people you help, one person's name will be removed from this book. Once this book is empty of names, then and only then will your torment be at an end. I will then send you to the void. However…” The book vanishes as the Right drops her hands. “If, somehow, you truly and deeply make a change in this eternity… Then the gates of Gold may very well open to you.” Right did not look to Left, as she knew her sister's face was one of shock at that moment. Left remains silent, however, as she watches Right lift her hands, hesitating a moment before doing the same. Together, the two caused a lovely golden light to surround Keitha, the light slowly swallowing her up before burning out all together. Once Keitha was gone, Left turns to her sister.

“Do you truly think such a horrible creature can change, sister?” Left questions. “Mm. Let me show you something…” Right lifts her hands, the same book from before forming yet again in her grasp. Opening the book to the final page she then offers it to Left, who glances to the page, then back to her sister. “Names are still being added.” Left said in sudden realization. “Indeed. Though Keitha has fallen, a great deal of her followers remain. Indirectly she is still affecting lives. Each life that is affected negatively in her name is written in this book. Names will continue to be written in this book for many, many years to come.”

“I see…” Left closes the book, her brow arching as she watched her sister. “So she will never be able to clear this book of names, then.”
“We will see, sister. An eternity is a very, very, long time…” Right turns, followed by Left. The two vanish in flashes of gold, the entire room darkening and fading from existence.

(Resurrection)

Keitha gasps, opening her eyes and looking as best she could around her. She was pinned, trapped in the rubble of some collapsed building or structure. Her arm was pinned over her head while the other was pressed against her stomach. She couldn't feel her legs, and she couldn't look down to see what was wrong with them. Her head was being tightly pressed between a plank of wood and something else. The weight on her chest was making it exceptionally hard to breathe, but she kept herself calm. Keitha was a warrior; born and raised. She did not allow herself to become panicked or distraught. Being unable to use everything excluding her arm that was over her head, Keitha reaches about her, grasping at anything she could manage to get her fingers around. It just so happened that luck was not in her favor. The object she grabbed and tugged caused a shift in the rubble, leaving the bit that was pressed against her chest shifting tighter against her. She couldn't breath, no matter how hard she tried. The weight pressing against her was simply too much. Black formed at the corner of her vision and slowly her mind went blank, her arm above her head wave about, patting against the rubble before she grasp hold of a rock. Using the rock she began smacking it against whatever she could, causing a 'clack clack clack' to sound off. A desperate attempt, a last ditch effort to save herself, but it seemed her luck wasn't all bad.

“Over here! I hear something!” Came a shout.
“A hand! I see a hand!”
The sound of motion, rocks scattering and a flash of light, the last things seen and heard by Keitha before the darkness took her once more.

When she woke next, Keitha found herself within the confines of a building that resembled a church, though the building was gutted and a great deal of the windows smashed. Her body lie on the wooden floor, covered by a small blanket that barely reached her waist. Instead of moving, Keitha closed her eyes and continued the ruse of being asleep. What had happened to her? She couldn't exactly remember. She knew her and her men had been raiding a town. They needed supplies so she had prepared them to stock up. The town had been more prepared than she had thought, though. They had soldiers, trained ones, which had fought back against her and her men. She remember the fighting, the shouts of her men, the burning buildings. A scuffle had taken place between her and two soldiers before a third had blindsided her and knocked her through a window. She remembered picking herself up only to hear the crack of wooden beams above. The fire which had engulfed the roof caused it to cave in… Aside from that she remembered nothing.

Just a… dream?

Keitha clenched her fists and flexed her muscles. She mentally checked over each portion of her body in search of damage. She ached here and there but aside from that she couldn't feel anything drastically wrong with her body. Ever so slowly Keitha opened her eyes, not much, just slits. There were sounds around her, coughing, snoring, moaning, scuffling, and soft whispers. Keitha slowly turned her head towards the whispers, her eyes still slits as she peeked through them towards the distant figures. Two females, both very young, though while one looked to be in her teens, the other looked to be a simple child of no more than seven. The child seemed to be in tears, the older crouched down and brushing away the tears. “Shush… We have to stay strong…”

“Keep smiling… Pain and can… Better if they…” Even with her fantastic hearing the voices faded in and out, Keitha only able to make out a small portion of what was being said here and there. Keitha turn her gaze from the two to observe the rest of her surroundings. There were others laying as she was, though some didn't have the small blanket like she did. Some others were completely covered by blankets, from head to toe. Dead, she gathered. This place was most likely a makeshift hospital or sanctuary for the town that she had been attacking.

Keitha's lips drew back in a smile that could chill to the bone. These fools had rescued the very person who had put them in this situation. The person who had commanded her men to destroy their town and their people. If only they knew, she'd love to see the terror or hate on their faces. “Look! She's awake!” The voice of a child drew Keitha’s attention, though as she turned to look it seemed the robed child she had been watching before was running towards her now. Keithas body stiffened, waiting for the right moment as the child drew closer to her. The moment the child drop at her side Keitha thrust her arms forward. Grasping the little girl and tugging her towards her own body, Keitha turn the child around to face the other robed female, who had stopped in her tracks. Keitha began to chuckle, forcing her body up while using the child as a crutch. “Of all the awfulest luck…” Keitha said, her voice teasingly harsh. “You grasped the devil’s hand when you pulled me from the rubble, girls!” Keitha was now standing, her eyes searching the room. Aside from the two robed females the only others in the church were wounded. No soldiers, which meant no one to stop Keitha as she made her retreat.

“It's okay. Everything will be okay.” The robed woman spoke, though she wasn't looking at Keitha, she was looking at the child.

Keitha lean down, her grip tightening around the child as she move her maw to the girl’s ear. “No… It wont… For you are in the arms of Keitha, now. " Keitha shot a wide grin to the older female, who was suddenly stricken with terror. A terror that Keitha took only a moment to soak up before turning and fleeing from the place, the child still her her grasp.

(A new Boss)

For days Keitha walked, attempting to catch up with her men while dragging the child along behind her. A rope she had found on her way through a village wrapped around the girl’s neck. The child was quiet, never saying much unless she had to use the bathroom or was hungry, and even then it seemed she held her tongue until the last minute. There was no secret of how cruel Keitha could be, though she took the time to pause when the child needed to do her own business. When she hunt, though, the child got whatever was left over from her meal, which was not much, sometimes. Keitha discovered that her body seemed weaker than she remembered, as she required more stops than normal marches ever required from her. All of her frustrations were taken out on the girl who was being drug along with Keitha, though the child remained quiet through everything.

By the end of their third week on the road Keitha began seeing signs of her men, signs that led the two females towards a distant town. The town was familiar to Keitha, though she had only ever been there once in her life. With a grin that stretched from ear to ear and made her look quite savage, Keitha began her way towards the town, tugging the child along behind her like a prize. Ahh, the looks Keitha imagined on her mens face when they saw her once more. Keitha, the Demon who rose from the grave! Chuckling to herself she took the path towards the tavern. She saw signs of her men here and there, some had clearly occupied houses for the night, the local residents unable to refuse due to the simple fact of who they were. None dared defy Keitha, else they call death down on their family.

Down the street of the town she caught glimpses of familiar faces. Keitha knew every single man and woman who had joined her by name. She was familiar with each and every one of them, unlike some bosses or leaders. She liked being able to scream their name when she was truly angry with them, after all. Looks of surprise, horror, disbelief, even a few looks of anger and rage were seen here and there as she walk. She kept her back straight and her head held high, clearly the proud leader of her massive gang of followers. Once she was before the tavern she was greeted by an open door and silence. Her path had caused the rowdy town to fall still as she approach. “Keitha… W-we thought yee dead…” The heavily accented voice came from a one eyed female off to Keitha's right as she entered the door.

Keitha smirked, looking to the female's one good eye. “Not even the Devil himself could hold me…”
“T-There's been some… C-changes.” The female spoke, glancing to the bar where a small collection of people had gathered. One seemed to be the center of attention. A female just about as massive as Keitha herself, was leaning against the bar, a male on either side, though they were clearly giving her space. “Well well well, lookit what we have here.” Spoke the female, her brow arched and mug jerked towards Keitha. “Bet even the devil couldn't stand ya. Had to kick ya out.” The female lean to the side, using her elbow to nudge the grinning male to her right. “Bet it was that annoyin' laugh… Nyeh heh heh heh heh hehhhh!” The female mocked Keitha, though the people around her only gave half-hearted chuckles and laughs. They were not so ready to tease the one they, themselves, had named a 'Demon'. Especially not not that she had come back from the dead.
Keitha felt a lump of rage rise in her chest, though she continue her smirk as she step towards the female at the bar. “Vinz… I see the ale is going to your head.” Keitha spoke, tapping the mug of Vinz lightly. “Keep talkin' and that won’t be the only thing goin' to yer head…”

“What? Do ya think I'm just gunna let you waltz in here and resume your position? Nah, you know the ways. I fought to get where I am… And by Your rules… if you want this spot back, yer gunna have to take it from me…” There was a fierce gleam in the eye of Vinz. Clearly the fact she had risen to her coveted position as leader had gone to her head. Clouded her vision…

“Vinz… You are about to make a devastatin' mistake… You sure you wanna…” Before Keitha could speak Vinz had slammed her mug down and was reaching for her sword. The sword that rightfully belonged to Keitha. This further spurred to enrage Keitha, her smile vanishing and a look of pure hate forming over her muzzle. “So be it…” Keitha stepped back and got into an attacking stance. "Boss… Errr… K-Keitha…” Keitha glanced to the voice, catching the one eyed female offering her a sword. She'd have to remember this… Maybe promote her to…

Keitha traded the rope belonging to the forgotten little girl for the sword, though the moment the sword was released into Keitha's grasp her entire body jerk downwards. The sword hitting the wooden floor with a clang. No one save Vinz laughed, quiet glances of confusion shared by all. “Awww! Is it too heavy fer ya?” Vinz spoke mockingly. Having been forced to her knees by the sudden weight of the sword, Keitha attempted to pick herself up, though as much as she tried to lift the sword the heavier it seemed to become. The most she could get the sword to do was to shift a little on the floor. “Hah… Hah! You've got to be kiddin' me…” Vinz spoke, clearly disbelieving what she was seeing. She stay on guard, her sword lifted and body turned just slightly, clearly expecting some form of sneak attack.

Frustration and rage held Keitha tight in its grip, now, and her fists clench on the hilt of the sword. “You filthy…” She cursed, dropping the hilt and turning to swing a fist blindly towards Vinz's face. Vinz side stepped to the right, allowing Keitha to stumble right past her, though along the way she twist her sword and swung it down. The flat of the blade smacking hard against Keitha's arm.
What would have barely bruised her before suddenly caused bones to shatter. Pain erupted through Keitha as she stumble to a stop, clutching her broken arm against her chest. There was still confusion in those who surround the fighting pair, though it was quickly becoming obvious that Keitha was not quite what she used to be. Something had happened…

Taking advantage of the moment, Vinz stepped forward, thrusting her sword at Keitha, who quickly dodged out of the way. Rage blinded her, and the mixture of pain with the rage just spurred her forward. Using her remaining good arm she pulled a fist and aimed it towards the stomach of Vinz after a failed strike with her sword. Yet again Vinz twist, avoiding the strike and yet again she use the flat of her blade to smack against the arm of Keitha. Though as Keitha stagger back, this time Vinz follow. Her elbow jabbing into the stomach of Keitha and forcing her to collapse as the wind was knocked from her lungs. “Seems you shoulda just stayed dead, Keitha…” Vinz spat, her smirk the last thing Keitha saw before a kick to her face knocked her out.

(This ain't workin'.)

When Keitha woke she was in the middle of a forest, a fire burning at her side. She was laying on top of a large blanket of animal skins, a similar one covering her from shoulders down. She tried to remember what had happened, but surely her memory was wrong, or it was a dream? No, that couldn't be what happened… Turning her head, Keitha look to the fire, watching it burn. They had simply not arrived yet. But if that were the case, then where did these animal skins come from? As she had done in the church, Keitha check her body, flexing muscles, testing out her limbs. No broken bones, so it was a dream. Heaving a sigh that was almost pure relief, Keitha sat up, though what she saw across from her and near the edge of the forest caused her breath to catch.

Both the child and the one eyed female....Nagi was her name, sat together. Side by side the two seemed to be sleeping, both of them looking particularly exhausted. Keitha did not care, though, she was filled with so much confusion and shock that she yell a bit louder than she originally had intended. “What is going on!?” Both females awoke with a start, Nagi grasping her sword and readying herself for combat. “What… Is… Going… On!?" Keitha repeated, a snarl added to her tone this time. Nagi hesitated a moment before averting her gaze, clearly still afraid of Keitha. "Y-You lost… B-Boss…”

“Lies! I can not lose! I'm Keitha!” Keitha smacked her chest with her fist and threw her blanket off of herself. “You did…” Spoke the child, her eyes locked onto Keitha's own. She did not seem as afraid of Keitha as Nagi did. “Quiet brat! I ain't losin' to Vinz… There's no way!” Rage and fury spilled into Keitha's words as she turned, gathering her bearings. “Which way is town!?” She screamed, looking back to Nagi. The female hesitate a moment before slowly lifting her hand and pointing towards the direction of town. “She'll k-kill ya B-Boss… I don't even k-know how you survived the beatin' ya took from 'er this t-time…”
Nagi's words fell on deaf ears, as Keitha was already running towards the direction of town. “She's goin' ta get 'erself killed…” Nagi spoke to herself.

“Let them try…” Replied the child.

------------------------------------------

Keitha's rage burned fierce, spurring her on through the town four more times. Each and every time she was beaten until Vinz grew bored or thought she had finally been killed. Each time Keitha returned with burning rage and fury. Each time she returned Keitha was mocked, until the fourth time when even the men that had once served her blocked her path to Vinz. Her body tossed once more into the forest when they were done, where she was picked up by Nagi and the child. Each time Nagi and the girl tend to Keitha until she woke. It was not until the fourth time they retrieve her body that Nagi decide enough was enough. She had served Keitha loyally, and though she feared Keitha she also cared for the woman. Nagi had found a place in Keitha's gang, found a family that cared for her, a home. For that she felt a sense of debt, as she had never before found, anywhere, what she had found with Keitha's gang. Vicious and murderous as they were, there were some good men and women within those ranks. It was time for Nagi to put a stop to the rampage of Keitha, who was little more than a joke, now.

----------------------------------------

“B-Boss…” Nagi began, watching the child as she gently tend to Keitha's wounds, most of which were already healed. “Y-You gotta stop.”

“Don't tell me what ta do, Nagi…” The tired, hoarse voice of Keitha came, rage and fury still fueling the flame inside her.

“Boss, somethin's changed. Ya ain't tha same as ya used ta be. Somethin' happened to ya.” Nagi moved to sit beside Keitha, who was glaring up at the night sky. “I dunno what happened to ya, but ya can't even pick up yer sword. You got t-tha snot beat out of ya five t-times now… You shoulda been dead six…”

Keitha said nothing, though she turn her head, implying she did not want to listen to what Nagi had to say.
“But ya ain't dead. No matter how many times ya go get beat up ya don't die. The girl says you heal like nothin' she's ever seen b'fore, too.” Nagi looked from Keitha, to the girl, then back to Keitha. “I think it's a sign, B-Boss…”

“It's a sign… That I still have a chance to take back my rightful place!” Keitha growled.

“No, Boss. It ain't. I think it's a sign of change. Ya gotta let that life go, Boss. Ya ain't gunna get it back by chargin' in and gettin' beat ta death over and over. Maybe it's time fer ya to move on…”

“You tellin' me to give up? I never give up. I ain't no coward!” Keitha turned her gaze back to Nagi, her glare now focused on her. Nagi glanced away, unable to look at Keitha while she shot daggers at her the way she was. “Not give up. I ain't tellin' ya to give up. Just move on, Boss. Ain't no harm in movin' forward. Sometimes ya ain't always meant to stay in one place, sometimes ya gotta move on…” The little girl seemed to be listening to Nagi, though as she looked to Keitha she could tell that Nagi's advice was not getting through to her.

Silence seemed to echo for ages, no one saying anything as Nagi wait for anything, any reply that Keitha might offer. “You're right…” Keitha finally said, her voice cracking from weariness and pain. “I ain't gunna get it back by chargin' in like I have. I gotta come up with a plan… I gotta come up with another way…” She said, both Nagi and the girl sighing and shaking their heads. “Whatever you do, Boss...I'll be there for ya…” Nagi said.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

(I think it’s time.)

For the next three months the three traveled, Keitha leading both Nagi and the child, who finally decided to give her name, Lilly. The three worked together as they followed close behind the gang that had once been commanded by Keitha. Lilly, who could have left at any moment had, for some odd reason, decided to stay. She was never asked, so she also never bothered to come up with a reasoning behind following Keitha and Nagi, though Nagi guessed it was because Lilly had nowhere else to go. The three established a working system between them. Nagi would hunt, Keitha would clean the food and prepare it, and Lilly would cook it. They took turns sleeping and keeping an eye out, and between the three of them they established what could easily be seen as a companionship. For the most part, it seemed Nagi and Lilly had become content with their life, the young girl even laughing on occasion. Nagi was far from motherly material, but she found herself in love with the little child. Perhaps even imagining how, had she ever decided to settle down in her earlier days, she’d have loved to have had a daughter much like Lilly. In a short time Lilly and Nagi became close, and though Keitha seemed to occasionally smile, her obsession was revenge. Nagi frequently attempted to persuade Keitha to move on, to allow them to go elsewhere instead of barreling on with this suicide mission. Each time Nagi’s words fell on deaf ears. Keitha simply would not listen…

By the fourth month it seemed Keitha had begun to make solid plans, the female mumbling to herself and taking long trips away from Lilly and Nagi to ‘scout a little closer’ to the enemy. It was when Vinz had stopped to make camp in an open field, leaving the three some distance away at the border of a forest, that Keitha seemed ready to attempt her assault. Once again Nagi did her best, requesting that Keitha change her mind. To simply move on and start a new life. The three could continue to work together. They had something fantastic the way they were, they didn’t need to be part of the massive gang anymore. Still yet Keitha did not listen…

That night Keitha chose to strike. She had been watching Vinz, she knew her nightly routine, she knew who were close to her and when they moved, where they went, when they changed shifts, and anything else she might have needed to know. Her plan was to poison Vinz. She could not strike a killing blow on her with any weapon, so instead she had gathered all ingredients needed to put together a deadly mixture, made specially for a grueling, painful, death. Just for Vinz. All of it for Vinz… Keitha’s maw was covered in a vicious grin, the fury once more burning in her eyes. This was not the way she liked doing things, but if this was the only method she could use, then so be it. She would use it! Keitha took her leave from Nagi and Lilly, instructing them to stay well into the forest until she returned. If only she had listened…

---------------------------------

Stealth was never something that Keitha felt she needed. She was a warrior and proud of it. She was far more used to giving her battle shout and thrusting her sword in the air as she charged head first into the fray. This was not the way of things, now, though, so stealth was something she needed to learn, and learn fast. Using the cover of darkness she kept her body low, the moonless night leaving her unseen by the men that wander about the camp. There were few tents pitched here and there, not many, but those that were erected were used as cover. Making her way to the largest tent, the one that clearly belong to Vinz, Keitha found herself without an issue. She had managed to make it to the tent unseen, and though a small tingle at the back of her mind felt this was unusual, her rage and desire for revenge spur her onward. The tent was dark, but Keitha decided to wait a little while longer. At least until after shift change. Keeping her body low in the grass and pressed tightly to the back of the tent, she waited. Two hours went by and finally the guards at the front of the tent were met by their relief. An hour more was allowed to go by before Keitha finally decided it was time to make her move.

Slipping under the tent she remained where she was, allowing her eyes to adjust to the darkness. She could not see too well, but she could make out enough. Items here and there, the sleeping body of Vinz, her boots, her clothes, and there it was. The water she seemed to always request for the night. Creeping forward, towards the mug of water that lie beside the sleeping form of Vinz, Keitha quiety drew the vial of poison from her waist pouch. Uncorking the little vial she tipped it over the water, the gentle sound of droplets heard as poison met water. Keitha’s lips once more curl back into a grin as she pocketed the vial. “Sweet dreams, Vinz…” She whispered, turning and slipping under the tent and back through the field. She couldn’t wait until morning. Oh glorious morning! Vinz would suffer for what she did to Keitha, she would suffer a thousand times over!

As Keitha made her way back to the forest where Nagi and Lilly were, she began to notice signs of others. Someone had recently come this way, no, not one...Dropping her body to the ground, Keitha closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath, inhaling the scents around her. Several someones...Vinz!? This could not be, Vinz had been asleep in the tent, the stench of her had covered that tent. But there was no mistaking what she smelled now. Vinz, along with several others had come this way at some point. Keitha broke into a run, her teeth clenched tightly together as she head towards the camp where she had left Lilly and Nagi. When she burst into the area where she had seen them last she skid to a stop, her head turning this way and that, her voice whispering harshly through the darkness. “Nagi! Lilly!” Neither were anywhere to be seen, but as Keitha search the small area she found signs of their struggle. Once more Keitha broke into a run, following the signs of dragging and scuffed earth until blood began to stain the path as well. “Nagi! Lilly!”

Keitha was no longer whispering, she didn’t care if she was heard. She had to find Nagi and Lilly! “Nagi!! Lilly!” She would kill Vinz! She would rip her apart! If she did anything to…
“B-Boss…” The choked word of Nagi caused Keitha to stop in her tracks, her heart thudding heavily in her chest as she look through the darkness. “Nagi…?” Keitha panted, squinting through the darkness in attempt to find Nagi. “B-Boss…” Nagi call again, her voice gurgling with the single word. Turning, Keitha moved quickly towards the direction the voice had come from, the battered form of Nagi coming into view. Before she could reach Nagi, though, the female spoke again, worry and panic choking her words further. “N-No… Lilly… H-Help… Lil-ly.” Keitha hesitated only a moment before turning and running through the forest once again. “Lilly! Lilly!” Keitha shouted through the forest as she ran, her body weaving through the trees and leaping over roots. “Keitha!” The voice that call her did not belong to Lilly, though. Staggering to a stop and back peddling, Keitha squint through the darkness despite already knowing who the voice belonged to. Some short distance away she saw Vinz, though her attention turn to Lilly, who was on her knees behind Vinz, held down by two others. “You’ve been hangin’ round for too long, Keitha.” Vinz spoke, Keitha stepping forward as anger and rage began to take hold of her in that all too familiar way. “Ah ah ah!” Keitha stop as Vinz motion to the males, who shove Lilly towards what looked to be a drop off. Keitha hadn’t noticed before, but they were standing on a high rise. The earth behind Vinz dropped off suddenly, how far, Keitha did not know. It was too dark to see and she was unfamiliar with this area. “I figure… I gotta get my point across some way, right?” Vinz said, holding up her hands in a shrug. “I don’t know how you’ve survived for so long. But if I can’t kill you, I figure I gotta kill off your pal’s.” Vinz step back, watching Keitha with a grin. “You shoulda just stayed dead, Keitha, then none’a this woulda happened. You shoulda just stayed dead!” Turning to the ones who held Lilly, she nod. “Toss ‘er…”

“Lilly!!” Keitha ran, then. Faster than she had ever ran before. Or perhaps it was that the world seemed to slow around her? She did not know. All she knew was, the moment she saw the body of Lilly tossed over the cliff she was in motion. Vinz and the two others step aside, though they were not Keitha’s target. Keitha threw herself from the cliff, her arms outstretched and reaching for Lilly as she dove. “Lilly!” Keitha cried, her hand clasping the hand of Lilly tightly before she tug the child to her body and twist, her back aimed to the earth just before they struck.

(Sayin’ goodbye.)

Lilly sat on her knees before the body of Nagi, her face buried in the soft fluff of her chest and holding Nagi’s cold hand between her two. She wept into the blood caked fur quietly, her shoulders heaving with silent sobs. The woman, whom Lilly had come to love dearly in her short time with the group was now gone. Though she was a warrior and a little rough, she had been the closest thing to a mother that Lilly had ever had in her life. Keitha stood behind Lilly, her own face a mixture of fury and sorrow, though she held a tight grip on her own tears, not allowing a single to fall. “I’ll make Vinz pay for this. I’ll make her suff--”

“No! No, no, no!!” Lilly suddenly screamed. The typically quiet child was suddenly leaping up and flinging herself at Keitha, her tiny fists pounding against the large females chest. “No! No! No! Stop! Just… Stop!” Lilly dug her claws into Keitha’s fur, attempting to shake the large female with all the strength she had in her. “Nagi tried to tell you! She tried to make you see. How can you still not see!?” All of her strength used up, the weeping Lilly fell to her knees, wrapping her arms around the legs of Keitha. Pressing her face into Keitha’s leg, Lilly wept. “Nagi is dead… I almost died… You should be dead. Can you not see? There is no future in this circle of revenge, only death!” The child spoke, words that were well beyond her years. “You need to go… You need to stop. You can not keep attacking them. There is no way to win!” Turning, Lilly crawl her way back to Nagi’s body and curl herself around it, propping her head up on Nagi’s chest. “You have a gift. You used it on me. I would not be here if it was not for you, but I will not follow you any more if you want to continue chasing after those people. You can die as many times as you want… I don’t care… But I won’t follow you and die too. You should have listened to Nagi… You should have let us go somewhere else. We could have had a new life… We could have still been together… Nagi would have still been alive…”

Keitha watch Lilly as she bury her face in Nagi’s chest once more, her silent sobs soon interrupted by hiccups. Eventually the little child cried herself to sleep, curled up against the body of the deceased Nagi. Keitha watch the child, her lips pursed and teeth clenched. She wanted revenge, everything she knew, everything she had ever been… Cried for her to seek out Vinz and retaliate against her. But for all the times she had tried, this was not the way of things now. She could barely lift a dagger, let alone a sword. She could not cling to her old ways, they no longer worked for her. So what did she do, now? She knew nothing else, and the one person who might have been able to show her how to take a new path was now gone. What was she to do, now?

Keitha turned and began walking away from the two, her eyes lifted towards the sky. She couldn’t allow herself to cry, she was a warrior. No… That was a lie. She was no longer a warrior, that life was gone. Keitha stop moving, her body still as she pass that thought over in her mind. She was no longer a warrior. That life was gone. Everything she knew was over, she was no longer a leader, she was no longer anyone’s ‘Boss.’ She had no men to command, no one to watch her back. The one creature who had loyally followed her she had gotten killed. Her only friend which she’d had left in the world. Clenching her fists she dropped her gaze, the tears steadily rising in her eyes. She couldn’t… Couldn’t…

The tears that spilled over her cheeks were scorching hot, burning a trail through her fur. Her hands lift, pressing palms into her eyes to try and stop the flood. Every ounce of her rage and fury began to spill from her eyes, now, the force of it all seeming to tear at her heart. A furious howl erupt from Keitha as she wept, collapsing to her knees then dropping forward to press her face into the earth. She’d no way to stop the flood once the gates were broken, so she cried until she was numb. Until every bit of that rage and hate was washed away. Until she could no longer keep her eyes open…

(A new day)

Keitha slept the entire night away, waking only once with the need to relieve herself. Upon doing so she decide to relocate to a spot nearer to Lilly, who was still curled up with the body of Nagi. Sleep brought no relief from the flood of things in her mind, but at least it made the time pass a little faster. In the morning, after she had risen to fetch breakfast for herself and Lilly, she sat across from the sleeping child and simply watch her. Even in her sleep Lilly wept, clutching tightly to Nagi.
“Lilly…” Keitha finally call, her voice broken from her own weeping the night before. Clearing her throat she call the child once more. “Lilly, it’s time to get up.” Lilly turn her head away from Keitha, clearly awake but not wanting to face her at the moment. “Look, child. We can not stay here. Eat your breakfast so we can bury Nagi and leave.”

“And what? Go after your stupid gang again? Almost die? Or really die!?” Lilly swung her head around, glaring fiercely at Keitha, who was instantly struck with anger of her own. Without thinking, Keitha rose, her hand drawing back and ready to smack Lilly across the face, her lips drawn back into a snarl. Keitha, somehow, managed to stop herself, her hand clenching into a fist before she turn and struck a tree in Lillys place. She was not used to being talked back to or defied, this was something new to her, and even more so was the fact that she could not retaliate with violence. Her anger was going to be the hardest thing to work on…

Jerking back as her fist struck the tree, she hiss in pain. Her hand was broken, but by now she knew it wouldn’t take long before it reset and heal. “Let me see it…” Lilly sigh, picking herself up and moving towards Keitha. “No… I’ll be fine.” Hiss Keitha, though the stubborn look in Lilly’s eyes caused her to hesitate, the young girl reaching again for Keitha’s hand. “Fine… But we both know it’ll be okay.”

“Still, it doesn’t hurt to just give a check…” Lilly replied.

For a long moment Keitha stay quiet while Lilly look over her hand, resetting any bones and attempting to straighten it out a bit better for quicker healing. “I’m done… Lilly…” Lilly’s ears rose and she look to Keitha as she worked, though she didn’t say anything her face held the question. “Nagi… Was right. You are right. There ain’t nothin’ left for me with those people. They’d never respect me, now. I made a fool of myself…”

Lilly heaved a sigh, her ears lowering and her gaze turning away from Keitha back to the still form of Nagi. If only Keitha had been able to realize this sooner… Nagi would still be alive. Keitha knew what was running through Lilly’s mind and she clench her teeth in anger. Anger at herself, anger at Vinz, anger at the Gods for not just sending her to an afterlife of torment. That would have been much, much easier to deal with. “Help me bury her… Then we can go…” Lilly finally spoke, moving away from Keitha and back to the body of Nagi.
“Alright… But first you gotta eat. You need your strength if your gunna be doin’ all that work…” Lilly nodded and moved to where Keitha had stored their breakfast. This was going to be a very, very, long day…

_________________________________________________________________________________________

(Movin’ on.)

After Nagi was buried Lilly and Keitha settled into a routine. It was surprising to Keitha how much the little child could teach her. Keitha found herself able to smile a little more and relax, though she still struggled with her anger and constant conflict with her old ways. She tried to let Lilly set the pace, doing her best to let go of her old self that was bent on leading and commanding everything. For a while this worked. Keitha and Lilly actually came to enjoy one another’s presence and Keitha believed that Lilly might have even come to forgive her for what happened to Nagi. Though Keitha never quite forgave herself. The days turned to months, and months to years. Despite the lack of aging in Keitha, she did notice that Lilly had grown. She was no longer a child, no longer the tiny little girl she had kidnapped so long ago. She was well through her teens and becoming an adult. She had always wondered why Lilly never decided to leave, she could have at any moment. She could have settled somewhere and made herself a new home. She had always meant to ask… But sometimes when you put things off for too long you lose the chance completely…

----------------------------------------

Keitha and Lilly sat near a fire, the weather had turned cold and the nights were colder. What little they could catch was already eaten and the two sat quietly together enjoying the warmth of the fire and waiting for sleep to take them. Most times were like this, the two sharing very little conversation wise, but both satisfied with that. Neither was really a talker, after all, so it was fine to sit in silence.
Keitha’s ear twitch at a distant snap, though the forest where they had made camp was filled with similar noises. Nothing to be alarmed about. The night drew on and Lilly was the first to fall asleep, Keitha being close behind. Her eyes drooped and her head began to tilt, turning to prop against Lillys head, which was against Keitha’s shoulder.

“Oh man. I did not expect to see you two again!” Came an all too familiar voice.

Keitha’s eyes snap open and hear ears went flat against her skull. There before her stood Vinz, her hands upon her hips and a grin stretching over her lips. “How in the world did you two manage to survive. That cliff was a good two hundred feet or more!” Vinz spoke as if she were greeting an old friend she was happy to see, though Keitha knew better. She had been the same way at one point.

“My boys told me I wouldn’t believe what I saw. They were right! Hah hah!” Laughing, Vinz move to crouch down by the fire, tossing wood on it and poking it with a stick, the once dying flame slowly returning to life.

“Guess I gotta try harder, huh?” The tone of Vinz changed and she gave a nod of her head. From around the tree Lilly and Keitha had been sleeping against came two males, one grabbing Lilly and the other grabbing Keitha. “Let’s find out how many more times she can come back from the dead, eh, boys?”

----------------------------------------

The next few months were filled with pain and misery like Keitha had never experienced in her life or even any lifetime after. The Gods had spoke the truth when they said she would be unable to die. No matter what was done to her she simply would not die. The days began to meld together, nothing to distinguish one from another except pain. Eventually Vinz grew bored of Keitha, as she seemed no longer to respond to anything done to her. Keitha was forgotten, the large gang packing up and finally leaving her behind on one of their moves. For weeks Keitha lay, bound in some unknown field, her body wracked by the never ending pain of starvation. Several times she prayed for death but even then she knew it would never come. This was her punishment, after all...This was her hell….

-----------------------------------------

“Keitha… Keitha! W-Wake up…” A harsh whisper caused Keitha to stir, though she was so weak she could barely keep her eyes open. “Oh dear gods…” Keitha could hear distant shouts, the whir of arrows as they sped by. She was so weak and exhausted, so very hungry...She could barely move. “Please! I need you to at least try and stand! I can’t lift you!” Frustration and panic was clear in Lilly’s tone as she struggle to lift Keitha. “Please!” Lilly sobbed.

Keitha drew in a slow breath and muster every ounce of strength she could find, using Lilly to pull herself up. Her bindings had been cut, most likely by Lilly. She was sore all over, her body starved, but she had to move. The shouts were closer. “C’mon… C’mon… Left foot, right foot, that’s it… Keep going…” Lilly shoved her body against Keitha’s, trying to force her forward while holding her up. Keitha’s arm wrapped around Lilly’s shoulder and held on tight, her weak legs like jelly but somehow managing to keep moving.

A sudden hiss erupt from Lilly, the sound of arrows hitting their mark reaching Keitha’s ears. She wasn’t struck, so it had to be Lilly. Confusion and disorientation were beginning to fade and adrenaline began to kick in. She was able to move a little quicker now, and when Lilly stop she was quick to jerk her forward and back into motion. “Keep… Going!” The arrows were torn free, causing Lilly to yelp in pain, though it was short lived. The gift Keitha had been given was used for only the second time in her life, then. She healed Lilly and pushed her forward, her old warriors instinct screaming for her to turn around and fight. She could not, though. She knew she could do nothing against the men that charged towards them now. “I… I killed… I killed Vi-Vinz…” Lilly pant as they ran. Shock took hold of Keitha, though she did not stop. “I couldn’t… Take it anymore… I… I would rather die than… Stay in that camp for one more n-night…” Lilly cried, gasping for breath as the two of them shuffle through the field. The camp should be in total chaos at the moment, then. There were probably only a few loyal followers of Vinz after them for revenge, now. If they could get away from them then they would be home free.

Once more the sound of arrows hitting their mark sound out and yet again it was Lilly that took the hit. Keitha reach for the arrows only to have Lilly smack her hand away. “Stop! D-Don’t you dare heal me… I… Can’t take this any more…” Lilly slow but she kept moving. “I need you to run, Keitha. I need you to G-Go… You have a gift…” As Lilly spoke the two came to the tree line of a forest, the field behind them now but still the shouts came. Arrows thud into trees around them and the sounds of the voices drew closer, murderous intent clear in their shouts and curses.

“S… Start a new life. Use the gift you have… You can help people!”
“I’m not leavin’ you Lilly. You gotta come with me!”

“No! I… I can’t… I don’t…” Lilly slow, a very familiar drop forming some distance before them. “I can’t do this… Keitha… I can’t… I don’t want to do this… Not anymore…” Tears streamed down Lilly’s face as she slipped from under Keitha’s arm and held her hand tightly in her own. “No, I ain’t leavin’ you Lilly! I ain’t gunna lose you!” Keitha growled, clutching Lilly’s hand tightly in her own. Lilly smile, tears still streaming down her face. “Keitha can die… Here… Right now…”
Lilly jerk her hands away from Keitha, moving them to Keitha’s shoulders and giving her a forceful shove backwards, forcing her clear off the ledge they had been standing on. “Let Keitha die!”
Keitha gasp, reaching up as she fell, though the face of Lilly vanish just as the light of torches reach the cliff. Lights that fade the moment Keitha finally hit the ground.

(A new dawn a new day a new life.)

Keitha placed one foot in front of the other, the pathway of steps before her leading along the side of a mountain and all the way up to the top. The trip was long and tiresome, though once she reach the top she was greeted by an elderly viscet with a gentle smile. “Welcome, Child.” Keitha hesitated, her gaze turning from the old viscet and past him. Carved right inside the mountainside lie the home of a tiny group of monks. A beautiful place, despite the slight cold. There were flat expanses where gardens grew, pillars that had all manner of creatures carved on them. Stoney walls lining the side of the mountain and the occasional plant growing here and there. “Have you come seeking healing?” The man spoke again, drawing Keitha’s attention back to him. “No… I’ve… I’ve come to seek training.”

The man arched a brow, looking closer at Keitha. “You are a healer?” Keitha try to keep her frustration out of her tone. She doubted she looked like a healer. Technically she wasn’t one yet. “Sort of… I… Have a gift…” The man chuckled, nodding to Keitha. “You look more like a warrior, are you willing to accept our pacifist ways?”

“Yes.” No hesitation as Keitha nod to the male.
“Mmm…Well then. What shall we call you, child?”
Keitha paused, her gaze turning to the sky.
“Call me… Amara…” Smiling, Amara follow the elder as he turned about and led her away.
“Welcome, Amara, to your new life.” The monk said with a smile.

Raven Volar

Name: Raven Volar

Gender: Female

History:

[Childhood]

----***---

Raven Volar was just a normal, happy young viscet. She didn't really have many friends. The child liked to stay quiet most of the time, but if you were to start up a conversation with her she could talk for hours.

----***----

[The Charm]

Raven was just seven when she found the charm. It was a usual Saturday morning and her mother had allowed her to go to the play-park on her own. When she arrived she ran straight to the swings. The viscet had been swinging for a while before she noticed something sparkle a little in a tree. Curious, Raven jumped off of the play equipment and skipped over to the large oak where the object was. As she lifted her head to try and see the top, the branches seemed to touch the sky. The little viscet wondered how she would retrieve the shiny things. She tapped her foot and suddenly had an idea. Raven placed a paw on the tree and dug her claws into the bark. Then she raised a hind leg and lay that paw on a bump in the tree.

She continued climbing up the tree, using branches to her advantage. Finally, the tired child reached the shimmery item. As she picked it up, she noticed it was attached to a long black piece of string. Raven turned her attention to the glistening thing. It was a purple jewel in the shape of a star. When she ran a finger across it's edges, she realized it was just plastic made to look like a jewel. Yawning, the viscet thought, "Phew! Getting up here wore me out! I guess I little break won't be harmful." Then she closed her eyes.

When she opened her eyes again it was dark. "Oh no, mother shall be worried! I must go home and apologize!" cried Raven, worried. As the viscet stood up, the tree loudly creaked, then it started to move. The branch Raven on curled towards the middle of the tree and so she tried to run away from it. Twigs on the branch grew longer and shot towards the frightened viscet. They wrapped around her, leaving her defenseless from the branch that was about to crush her. Then it all stopped.

She had woken up! It was all a dream! It was still light and she had the necklace in her paws. The child slipped it over her neck and wrapped it around several times, for it was rather long. She soon descended from the tree and walked home.

----***----

[Teen Years]

----***----

There was nothing that special about Raven Volar in her teen years. She was pretty average. Not very smart but not extremely dumb, not the most happy but not upset. She liked to put her hair to one side of her face to make herself look "emo".

----***----

[Feathers and Stones]

It was a fine Sunday morning. The sky was light blue, with peach colored clouds scattered around. 16 year-old Raven halted and smiled. It looked a little like her fur. She continued her morning stroll after about a minute of standing still. The viscet headed towards the coffee shop to get herself a drink. She was soon sat outside with her hot drink and was calm until she saw a large bird. "A Bearded Vulture!" she cried. Raven had been learning about birds of prey recently.

The viscet walked cautiously towards the bird, which walked away from her and looked back at her after a few steps, almost as if he wanted her to follow it - which she did. She was led to a small grassy area, surrounded by trees. The Ossifrage showed her a birch tree, which had writing carved into it. The viscet read it aloud "Only They may enter." She was puzzled. "Wha-What are you trying to show me? Who is this "They" anyway? Were you even trying to lead me here?" The Lammergeier tapped on the wood with its beak like a woodpecker twice and the writing started to glow green. A rectangle also lit up, but it wasn't carved into the tree. The rectangle disappeared and inside the tree were steps heading downwards. Not a fancy stone spiral staircase, just dirt stairs heading downwards. The Bearded Vulture jumped down and Raven followed. There was a creaking of wood as the rectangle-door reformed itself. They were trapped in. The viscet gave a frightened shiver as she reached the bottom of the steps. It was surprisingly light, and as the teen looked up she saw why. there was the same green glow as the writing, except it was coming from pictures. They were almost like cave paintings and seemed to tell a story. A story about birds.

They reached the bottom of the stairs where there was a small room with a blue glow. It was full of stones and gems. Some looked like the plastic charm on Raven's necklace, but as she reached out to feel them she realized they were real. Despite the pretty purple gems, beautiful blue stones and everything else, it was a certain few red stones that caught her eye. She picked them up. Some of them had holes in, which gave the teen an idea. She pulled the necklace over her head and undid the "clip". Raven slid the charm off and put the red stones on. Then she "clipped" it together and wore it around her neck, wrapped around a few times since it was still very long. The Ossifrage started to jump up the stairs, dropping four feathers. Raven picked them up, put two behind her ears and two in the space between her neck and her necklace.

The next day she arrived at school and many people asked her why she changed her necklace and where she had gotten the feathers. Raven would just smile and walk away.

----***----

[Adulthood]

----***----

Raven Volar is currently a young adult. She is 21 and works as a hairdresser because she enjoys all the different hairstyles. She still has her hair mostly to one side, but doesn't really care much about looking emo anymore.

----***----

[The Ring of Gold]

It was Sunday and 20 year-old Raven wasn't to open her shop until tomorrow, so she had decided to visit the beach. She had two towels, one for laying on and one for drying herself off with when she had finished swimming as well as a goggles. At the beach there weren't many people. The viscet left her towels on the sand and ran into the sea with her goggles on. She had an amazing time, splashing around in the sea. That was until she saw the it. A set of eyes, glowing amber, in the middle of a circle of rocks. Being curious, Raven decided to inspect the circle. She swam over to if and put her face so close to the the sand her muzzle actually went in it! There was something solid under the sand and Raven had felt it. She attempted to dig a hole in the sand put only managed to create a small one. Despite the hole being small it showed a lot. It was a silver handle on wood. The viscet decided she would pull it, so she did just that after she took a large breath of air.

When she pulled the handle it opened some kind of door and Raven and a bit of water were sucked into a hole underneath it before it shut on its own. She was helplessly falling, though fortunately for her the hole wasn't that deep so she landed quickly. The crash hurt though and her ears had some sharp objects go through them. Raven's ears were in agony. She didn't care about the eyes now. She wanted to escape. Unluckily, it was very dark, except for one little glow. The viscet followed that, thinking it was most likely the exit. She got closer and closer to the glow until she was close enough to realize that it was the eyes again. And they were looking at her.

"Who are you?" asked a rough voice. "I-I.. I am Raven Volar and I fell down here. I don't know where I am and I'm very sorry to disturb you." replied the viscet. "Ah. Okay. I was just checking it wasn't the guy who put me down here. I don't like him." said the voice. "Well, so you know how I can get out of here?" asked a slightly perplexed Raven. "Wait, that was dumb of me, I'm sorry. You'd have probably left if you knew. Apologies" "No, I know the way out but I like it here, even though I don't like the person who put me here. Just keep walking." replied the voice. "Thanks!" said Raven, now extremely confused and walking towards the exit.

When Raven had gotten out, she realized she was in a rock-pool. She walked over pebbles and crabs to get back to her towels, which she remembered where she had put. She gathered all her belongings and dried herself off. After that, she felt her painful ear. Whatever was on it was smooth. Then Raven went home, trying to make sense of the recent event.

Raven arrived home and darted up her stairs to her bathroom. She looked in the mirror to find out that she had sharp golden things stuck in her ear. Despite treating her ears, she kept the golden objects in her ears. They looked like piercings that really suited her. One was even a perfect ring.

Ok so this is deep, it's kind of sad too, but it's what came from my heart when

"I've never really talk about my past, let alone tell anyone, it's not the prettiest....I never felt like I had a family. I was pretty much on my own at a young age. I would go off and do what I want not caring the slightest about others and whats going on around me. That's how I was taught to act. My parents didn't care and they were the only example I had to follow, so I acted like them. I didn't care. As I grew I started to realize my life was really mess up. I wasn't supposed to be on my own. My parents were supposed to take care of me, I shouldn't have had to deal with all the things I dealt with then. I was just a kid...thrown to the wolves. By that time it was to late. I was a rebel, didn't follow any rules, didn't care what people thought of me. I was me, that's all that matters. I would get in deep trouble and I would always have to get myself out of it, my parents didn't want anything to do with it, and I don't blame them for that. I would get so angry with everyone blame all around me for my consequences because I didn't want to own up on what i did. After a while others didn't care anymore. And I think that made me more mad. It was the only kind of attention I would get, even if it was negative. I just wanted attention....I just wanted to be loved.... I never expected anyone to love me, I didn't deserve it, but someone wanted to give me a chance to be a better person. It was a day like every other day. I was running from a group of people because I stole some food and when I dashed around the corner I slammed into someone. Looking up I saw it was another viscet a female, and another one beside her a kid. 'Hello child, why are you running?' she asked me with a smile, it was one of the warmest smiles I've ever seen. I looked at her surprised, usually people run when they see me. She must be new around here is what I thought. 'Uhhhh.....running away...' I said. Hey there was no denying it, what else was I supposed to say? 'Why child? Are you in danger?' She ask's with that smile still on her face 'HEY THERE HIS IS GET HIM!' I hear someone yell. Dashing away from her and the others I hid in a garbage can waiting for the chasers to go by. After a while I climb out and start sneaking away but I bump into someone looking up it her again. 'Child don't be afraid, I wont harm you.' she says to me 'Do you know who I am? No one talks to me I'm just a street rat.' I snicker to her seeing her little one pop his head from behind her back. 'Yes I do young one, and I want to help.' I laugh 'Ha you help me, don't even try, there's no helping me.' I say laughing so hard I fall on the ground 'Oh but there is child, you just long for love. I want to give you that. Now come child.' She says, no it was more like a demand, I followed I didn't think there was a chance of getting out of it. So she takes me to her home, cleans me up and starts talking to me 'You're name is Atlas right?' She asks, nodding to her she continues to speak 'I've seen you around, you get into a lot you trouble don't you.' she chuckles. 'I remember when I was your age, I was the same way, didn't care what the world thought of me...but I still wanted to be love. And I can see that in your eyes. I never got the chance to be loved and I see that you long for it....would you like to stay here Atlas? Live here with me and my son, be part of our family?' She ask's me 'What just like that?! No getting to know me or anything. I'm the wild one, everyone knows me, they stay away, so why don't you." I snicker. After a long pause she replies 'Because everyone deserves a second chance. So what do you say Atlas? I'm not asking to be your mom or replace her, I just want to get you on your feet on a good path in life, you have a good head on your shoulders, and I believe if someone pushes you that you can get somewhere.' She says with the warm smile of hers. 'Fine....' I all I was able to say. It took some time to get used to it. I didn't have to sleep in a box no more I had a bed, I didn't have to steal and lie anymore....I was loved. And it felt great. I guess you could say she adopted me, and the thing is, she didn't have to! She did it out of the kindness of her heart. I never knew there were people out there like that. I don't know if it was destiny or what, but someone was watching over me and gave me this chance to turn my life around, and I have. I'm a much better person now. Other's trust me now, I'm still getting attention but it's not it the negative way anymore, and I like it that way. One day we were out in town and I got separated for her, I couldn't find her. So I called out, and what came from my mouth surprised me. I yelled 'Mom!' It took me a few seconds to realize what I said and by that time she was running to me grabbing me and pulling me in her arms. And you know what, I didn't regret saying that. She is my mom, maybe not my real mom. But who said family had to be blood? So here I am today, loved as much as I can possibly be. And I have her to thank for that. Thank you mom, I don't know what I would have done without you."
