In the midst of the flower blooms
Finds one wild seed that sewn
Among the elegantly planted and pruned
Was found one thorny stem had grown

Striving on its own
To grow amidst it all
One cold night a winter wind had blown
Leaving all but one to take the fall

Standing on its own
Held strongly by its roots
One wild stem had grown
Taking the time it took

Even through rough weather
It has stood the test of time
Though nothing had harmed a pedal
Look closely to see what you will find

The rain brings tears to cry
As they drop to the ground
Falling not only from the sky
As you see those are teardrops you've found

Yet you would not find one tear
Unless you came close to see
Though it has found nothing to fear
It remembers what used to be

After so many seasons passing by
Living the only life it knows
A hand reaches from behind
Then becoming the broken rose

By gentle hands were it taken away
For the reasons it were chose
Love was found that day
Through the life of a broken rose

The patter on the windowpane,the gleam of wetness on the glass,
the certain kind of melancholy,that surely comes to pass.

The dreary grey of morning,clouds misted soft in white,
the pale burn of the sun as it shines upon it's light.

The walk is brisk and quiet still,as hidden on one's breath,
the mist of air that coils up and words that ask what's left?

The heat of air inside,the smell of coffee blooms,
the ache of breath that captures,the quiet and the gloom.

This melancholy is no stranger, he sets up a quiet chair,
as the cold still lingers, he murmurs in her ear.

She sees the life she's lived before in the porcelain mug,
the black gold of coffee, makes her chest feel quite snug.

The jacket is tugged tighter, the quiver of one's lip,
the flash of canines brighten and she bites down on it quick.

The tremble in her frame is slight, but settles with a pause.
The motes dance silently in fright, as she peers down in loss.

The melancholy is no stranger, he offers comfort still,
his touch is lukewarm in her heart, even when though she's ill.

Her breath it settles silently.A calm timbre to the noise,
as she relaxes slowly, with elegance and poise.

And so the melancholy watches as she straightens up just so,
He smiles silently at her. He knows of all her woes.

And so she sits with quiet, her nose warmed by the steam,
The heat and bitter calm her. She's no longer in a dream.
