They would also see her jump as the sweet scent of cocoa, which made them laugh, as she attempted to grab the cup from her parents. They felt when Cocoa grew up she could most relate to her name, and it would connect to her childhood as they told her the stories as she grew up. Overall, it was more of a memory thing to name her after, and telling her the stories always makes her laugh.

Sweet Bitter in Malay

The name 'Sweet Bitter' was given to her because her parents thought that her pelt reminded them of sugar, but also coffee. Her parents found coffee bitter unless you added sugar, so then came the name 'Pahit Manis'. Some others called her just 'Bitter' because of how she acts towards others.
She acts bitter, or aggressive, towards people that she doesn't like or doesn't want to talk to. She is usually a very happy, sweet one, but only to close friends and family. She has trust issues that is a big part of this, and sometimes she even locks herself in a room when she is stressed or doesn't want to be bothered.
Pahit Manis, who also goes by Manis, Pahit, or SB, has always been true to her name, and let everyone that was around know it.

She may be sweet.
But she's also bitter.
