Story:

It was cold, freezing even. I was accustomed to seeing my breath as it was much hotter than the average beings, but here I exhaled pillars of steam. My back was drenched and cold, the snow that touched it melting instantly due to my burning mane. I shivered as the cold seeped past fur and chilled my skin. With frostbite close by, I began searching for sanctuary, which was much harder than you'd think. Out here, everything blended together in shades of white as the snow absorbed all color from the earth. I pressed on, squinting through the heavy snowfall as I went, searching for some sign of safety. My eyes fell onto a shadowy figure in the distance, and a chill ran down my spine. I shoved it aside and pressed forward, calling out to them. To my surprise, they simply turned and walked away. How rude! I pressed forward, my mane's heat increasing as I stormed through the snow towards them. It would've taken me no time to catch up, if it weren't for the snow. My pace was faster, but the thickness of the snow slowed me, while they seemed to almost glide through it. It was clear that they were adapted to this freezing state, though it made me wonder just who would willingly reside here.
I followed them for some time, refusing to give up in my pursuit, until finally they stopped and turned to face me. Determination flared in my mane and I shoved through the snow toward them. When I was finally before them, I attempted to speak but was so out of breath that all that came out was pathetic wheezes. The other watched me then gestured to the right in silence. I followed their gesture and stared into a cave untouched by the cold. I turned excitedly to thank them, but they were gone. Not trusting my vision in this state, I called out a thank you and went into the cave. Without the constant snowfall to wet my back, my fire roared to it's usual state once more and I flopped onto the cave floor with my tail in front of me like a campfire.
As I began to doze off, I heard a squeak and saw something tumble in from the corner of my eye. I turned to look at it and found myself gazing at a toasted marshmallow plush with two smaller ones beside it. I hesitantly reached out to grab them, but froze when I spotted viscet paws walk within the cave. I stared in silence as a the viscet calmly walked within the den. She eyed my mane for a moment before laying down across from me in silence. I cleared my throat and smiled at her. "Why hello there, are you lost too?" Her reply shocked me.
"I live here. You can have those, they should help keep you warm, though it looks like that's not a big problem for you."
I stared at her blankly and slowly picked up the marshmallows. She was right, they were extremely warm, and soft. I pulled them to my chest, still watching her in silence, then ever so slowly laid my head down. "What's your name?"
"Akachi. Now get some rest. The storm will be gone tomorrow." I could tell that she was dead serious, so I closed my eyes. With the marshmallows, it was no problem. Something about them provided me with such great comfort that I fell asleep within moments, though a part of me wishes I hadn't, for when I awoke, Akachi was gone.
