tell me about this babe ;
"Ambrosia" in Greek, translates to "immortal", and in their mythology, the food of the gods. While she is ridden by her owner, the mare is also rented out for parties, most often weddings; events to celebrate and promote never ending love and joy, hence her name.
No horse in the barn can work indoor events, as they can be quite frightening, and frightened horses can be dangerous, other than Ambrosia, that is. While most horses would understandably become anxious in enclosed spaces, she remains relaxed. Nothing phases her, not even elevators - she actually tends to stand by the door with her ears perked forward, excited to meet the guests.
While she doesn't mind other horses much, Ambrosia is definitely a people-horse, if you get what I'm saying. The young, the old, the horse-festers, and horse-lovers alike all end up having a soft spot for the mare. She's such a sweet and gentle soul; it's hard to find reasons to not like her.
She's been known to pick out the most distressed guests and attempt to make them feel a bit more comforted, whether it be nuzzling their shoulders, or just letting them pet her face while she waits patiently with her head down.
It's plain to see, Ambrosia loves what she does. Being fawned over by people, brightening people's days, and of course getting to eat the occasional cupcake all make for a perfect job for the mare.
What most don't know about the mare was that she was bred with the intention of getting a smaller mare for the daughter of a reining champion. Eventually, the family that bred her realized that the mare hated what she was being asked to do. They sold her to her current owner, who was into hunter/jumper work and did some trail rides here and there, and the mare instantly took a liking to this lifestyle.
The parties became a part of the picture a few months down the line when the idea was suggested by a friend. The first one was a big hit, and they've continued to go well since then. It just goes to show you, that when things don't seem to be working out, sometimes all you have to do is try something new. Thanks to the family that was able to understand the value of their horse's happiness, Ambrosia was given an opportunity to spend her days doing what she loves most.
