bella sobbed as she cradled her stallions head. After 25 years of knowing him, this couldn't be the end. But it was. He was tired. He was in pain. He had been the best baby she had ever had. "Oh Neptune..." She nodded to the vet who was putting him down. "Go to sleep my love. I will always miss you..." Bella started to sob as his breathing became sharper and then.. Finally... It stopped. "Neptune!" Bella howled gathering his mane into her face. She breathed in his horse scent. "Neptune..." She then found herself at his grave, a small grave in the middle of the forest at Brumby River Ranch. "He was a great horse. He never let me call him that. He had an aura around him saying that he was no mere horse. He always nickered to me. He died as he lived, a proud stallion with no fears. He will be remembered as the oldest horse at brumby river ranch, dying at the age 36." Bella smiled at the memory of getting him 25 years ago, when he was a 11 year old stallion.. "He will always be remembered."

When Cryptic was alive, he was riddled with pain
He was born with a defect of unknown name
He never got to play, trot or kick
For this little devil was always sick
Of course he was pampered
A pet for all days
But a troubled little horse in all his ways

At last came his day
He danced with death
Within this world not to stay
A final breath by those he loves
And gone forever with a final neigh
At age 25 he now flies so high

A dance with death so intertwined
For this sickly horse, a new life sublimed
Free of pain, fear and dread
Now that Cryptic is finally dead

How does he die? Dexter has arthritis and has been increasingly getting worse since he was 10 years old. He used to be a show jumper but was pushed too hard and it took a hard tole on his body. At the age of 18, medication just wasn't helping anymore and we took the brave decision to put Dexter down so he wouldn't be in any more pain.
