Not knowing this mares history, she was a closed book with a lock, had no key, but all the secrets to life within. Once Elphaba was brought to Tiger's Eye Stables, a volunteer made a connection with her. He enjoyed reading books, especially mysteries and yet, thats all this mare was. Other than an active reader, Ozzie enjoyed drawing from life. At minimum, a day past and he went to the director and asked if he could get to know the strange Mule; the director said possible, but that wasnt soon enough for the boy.

Starting on the first of May, the weather was cool and not much wind- it was relaxing. Elphaba calmed down and became comfortable with her corral. It was early in the morning, and not many people were working. Slowly walking to the side fence, it didnt help with Elphaba's reaction to him. She bolted and continued galloping in a circle along the edge of the fencing. Not knowing how to understand the mare, he tried many ideas of his. NOhting worked as gave up hours after lunch time. With him being in the middle of the school year, he had to finish his art project, but need a subject to draw. Having no brain power left, the light bulb flashed. He grabbed his sketch book, pencil, no eraser and sat down roughly about 20 feet from the gate of Elphabas corral.

Calming down, Elphaba understood the boy was observing her, but why? After hours passed, Ozzie had a variety of poses and sketches of the mule, and Elphaba continued to stay away, but curious. As Ozzie sketched her every day during his lunch break, Elphaba was coming to understand, he didnt wanna hurt her.
