Reason behind the costume:

Tae chose a flower for his Halloween costume first and foremost because it was expected of him. With his delicate coloration, flower-like markings, pretty blue eyes, and soft feathery voice, he's the perfect image of a little girl. And everyone knows all little girls his age are obsessed with flowers and princesses. Even if he's only a girl biologically. Sometimes the most obvious choice is the best one. Especially considering Tae does his best to make sure that he doesn't stand out too far from the crowd.

The second reason Tae chose a flower for his costume was to play off his best friend's costume. Niklaus had chosen a fairly realistic spider costume this year, and Tae was absolutely determined that they have matching costumes. So a flower. It's common knowledge that many spiders love to live and hunt among the colorful petals of flowers. And even if it's normally Tae who normally hides behind Nik waiting to strike as soon as he see's an opening, the opportunity to go trick-or-treating in matching costumes was too good to pass up. Plus the irony behind their switched roles is a delightful bonus.

Friend story:

"Hey Nik," Taelyr said, trying to get his best friends' attention even as he carefully sorted through his candy. There was no use keeping the really nasty ones afterall. "Do you think ghosts are actually real?"

"Of course they're real." Niklaus said quickly, raising his head to look directly at the magenta viscling. "And so are demons and witches and necromancers. Zombies too. But those things can't exist without a necromancer nearby." He spoke calmly and confidently, in a way that only a child who is a hundred percent certain they are right can be.

"No way!" Tae exclaimed excitedly, looking up from his candy to meet his friends eyes. "All of those are real! That's so awesome. But how do you know for sure?" He asked curiously, eyes shining bright.

"Father told me all about them." Nik said proudly, nodding his head in a way that made his whole costume shake. "But don't tell Dad that. It's gotta be our secret."

"Your Father is the best." Tae stated, sweeping his 'keep' pile of candy back into the flower patterned bucket he had chosen for the night. "Are you ready to go? I heard the houses over on 54th street are supposed to be giving out all the really good candy this year."

Nik quickly scrambled to his feet, nearly collapsing on his nose when one of many spider legs got trapped beneath his own paws. "Yes, yes, i'm ready to go! Now hurry Tae, I want to get at least one snickers bar before the nights over."

Tae laughed as he climbed to his feet and made his way beside his friend. "Let's go then."

Together, the two of them hurried down the street. There were visclings and their parents everywhere. But, Tae was proud to notice, there wasn't a single spider or flower in site besides the duo.

When they reached 54th street, they were awestruck by the literal hundreds of halloween decorations that were stuck in front of each building. "Wow, look at all these skeletons everywhere Tae!" Nik said happily, boudning up the steps to the first house.

"I know! This place is awesome Nik." Tae said happily, stopping on the top step for a moment before reaching forward to ring the door bell to the house and then scampering back behind his friend.

Tae had barely reached his friends side when the door swung open, revealing an older black and white female viscet. "Trick or Treat" Tae and Nik chimed in sync, identical smiles on their faces.

"Why aren't you two the cutest things." The older female said, leaning forward to drop a pair of chocolate bars into the buckets the two visclings held out eagerly. They quickly thanked her and stepped off the porch.

Checking his candy bag, Nik squeled. "Look Tae, I got a snickers bar!" Tae laughed. "Come on, let's go to the next house. Maybe we can get a few more!" Together, they raced down the street ot the next house.

"Niklaus." Taelyr called out, high pitched voice echoing eerily through the mansion. Personally, Tae didn't see why Nik and his fathers wanted to live in such a big house. Surely a small little apartment would be much homier. "Nik! I'm gonna find you any minute now. I know all the best hiding spots too!" It was a lie, but not much of one. Nik had showed him all the best spots already, but the mansion was huge. The spiral staircase he was currently climbing up was only one of many.

Just as he hopped up the last step and onto the small landing, Tae giggled. Peaking out from around the corner, was the very tip of an orange tail tuft. He had found Niklaus it seemed. Moving carefully to make sure his claws didn't clack on the hard wood floor, he crept forward until he was just inches away from the corner. Then, without warning, he pounced forward, a grin on his lips. "Found you!" he exclaimed in joy.

With a solid thump, Tae collided into his friend, the two hatchlings sliding across the slick floor in a tangled heap. Everything was silent for a few seconds, Nik too stunned to saw a word and Tae waiting carefully to make sure he hadn't angered his friend. It was unlikely, but it had happened before. Luckily though, after a few seconds, Nik burst into laughter and Tae was quick to follow. "I was so sure you wouldn't find me!" Nik managed to get out between bursts of laughter.

Tae shook his head in fond exasperation. "You silly." he said reaching over to bop his friend on the nose. "You should know by know I'll always find you." Nik smiled shyly, "Always?" he asked, voice unsure. "Always." Tae replied.
