I sat in the livingroom, typing away at unanswered emails. The distant neighing of my horses, being heard from the livingroom.
Suddenly my cellphone beside me began buzzing and playing the familiar ringtone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is the official Hyrulian Gypsy Barn. We are calling to tell you that we have found you a yearling based on the form you filled out"
"Oh, ok, thanks, when should I come pick them up?"
"You are able to come pick up at anytime"
"Awesome, thank you very much"
"You're welcome"
*boop*"Oh, that's awesome! I can't wait to meet my new yearling" I said to myself, as I got up from the couch and went to fix myself up before leaving. I was going to go see my new beauty as soon as I could. Once my hair was fixed up and I was looking presentable, I left and got into my truck, with the trailer attached to the back.
I pulled up to the barn, looking around.
I parked and got out of the truck walking around to hopefully find some one to show me to the yearlings.
I walked around for a bit before meeting an employee who guided me to the pasture with the yearlings. As we approached the pasture, my eyes scanned the lot, each and every yearling was so pretty, I would be lucky to get any of them.
"Yours is that one over there" said the employee, as she pointed to a young colt grazing along the fence.
"Thanks" I said briefly, as she walked off.
I was awe struck, this colt was simply gorgeous, he had a beautiful Dunalino coat with Frame Overo, and the soften lavender eyes I have ever seen.
Though it did take me a second to realize that he was grazing away from the others and in a patch of flowers.
My first impression was big sweet heart, and almost seemed easily distracted, as he kept sniffing at the flowers and eating the soft, lush grass instead of going back to the other horses.
I slowly made my way over, and made sure that I came toward him from the front, not the back, as not to spook the young colt. As I approached he lifted his head and nickered at me, before bending back down and sniffing the flowers.
Once I was close enough, and he didn't seem bothered by my presence, I climbed over the paddock fence and sat in the grass in front of him and waited. It didn't take long until he wandered over to me, lied down, and rested his head on my lap. I patted his neck and scratched behind his ears gently. We seemed to already have a great bond. After a little bit, I started picking the flowers he kept sniffing at, and began entwining them in his mane.
The yearling seemed to enjoy this, sitting in the paddock, playing with the flowers, and just being lazy in the sun. I realized he didn't have a name yet, so I began thinking of some. Several occurred to me, but none seemed to fit him. Until I thought of Chrysanthos. Meaning "golden flower" I thought this name was lovely, because of his coat and his love for flowers.
I checked my watch, it was already close to dinner time, it must've been somewhere around and hour that we spent in the paddock. I gave Chrysanthos a gentle pat on the neck before standing up and going to find the employee.
Once I had found her, she began helping get Chrissie into the trailer. I had backed up the trailer right to the gates to we wouldn't have to worry about using a halter. The next task; loading him into the trailer.
