Natalia had always been a bit of a wild child; a restless and reckless girl who could never sit still or follow the rules. Unsurprisingly this got her into trouble quite a lot at school, and she was a regular in detention. This didn't seem to bother her much. "I can't help it if you're all boring," she'd say, idly setting fire to paper she'd torn up, and then scowling when her lighter was confiscated.
It seemed only her art teacher saw hidden potential in her. She was the one who really encouraged Natalia to channel her spirit into something more creative, and this led to her discovery of paint pouring.
She was immediately fasinated with this method, and what could be made with such an unconventional technique. She also loved how unpredictable it all was. Yes, she could choose the colors to her liking; bright, neon, colors that suited her indeed - her perfect rainbow. The amount of silicone spray added, something she had to be careful about, and so she had to concentrate and keep a steady hand. The size of the canvas, which suited her fine, because she preferred a large space over a small area to work in.
But once the paint was in the cup, and the cup flipped, then it was out of her control.
She had no say in where the paint would move, or which colors would collide, or how the piece would look in the end. This medium of art almost seemed to calm her down, even when given the torch to bring out the silicone bubbles.
She surprised herself in how much she enjoyed making art like this, and how satisfying it was to create these works and do something productive.
Plus it gave her an excuse to use a blowtorch.
